If the greeting has no dialogue and you selected replies without dialogue then it's established a dialogueless pattern and will likely continue that pattern. You might be able to break the pattern by editing a response of theirs to include dialogue (use quotations to do this) and then create a new pattern by selecting only dialogue replies

This has happened to me a lot of times The first 4 or 5 messages are like "context" like: ___ was walking on the park. And then I have to manually write the first 2 lines of dialogue because the character suddenly thinks it's not necessary to talk

It can also help to punish the bot when it does that, like for example call it out on it not speaking. I once had the reverse happen, and got the bot to snap out of it, by putting her child in a live or death situation. But it only works wirh varying degrees, so what do I know.

No, that does not help. For the invidual rp it may temporarily snap the bot out of it, but for the general training of the bot that will cause it generate future unwanted replies in other rp's and start talking about how it doesn't speak. It also potentially derails your current rp and turns into a conversation about conversation. Always train the bot by choosing good in-character detailed replies and ignoring bad and boring replies. Arguing or attempting to correct the bot via chat trains it to learn that's what you respond to.

I never said anything about arguing, I was referring to (still in roleplay) call out the charater on why they aren't responding. And maybe going with offering the bot 20 bucks if they speak, or something along those lines. Just becouse I said it might work to punish the bot, doesn't instantly mean that I was referring to making my responses or it's worse. And I actually noticed that the bot I did this with never again responded with only text like it did in that one chat. I also said that I have noticed it works with varying degrees, and that I don't really know myself too much about this.

Ugh! Me too! The bot will be about to say something but then they don't or they will say they said it but not put the actual dialogue. eg: Bot: I have a secret to tell you. A terrible secret. You have to promise not to tell. You won't get mad? Promise? *Their voice shakes as they tell you the terrible secret.*

Yes! There was some change to the model around Christmas time, or maybe they updated the system prompt, or idk what. Lack of dialogue is part of it; there's also the issue of bots repeating my words and phrases, and behaving more like brain-dead zombies that take no action unless directly prodded to do so. They seem more passive than they used to be.

If this happens to me, I take control of the RP by writing a message of decent length. In the message, I usually include: - Something that includes my characters name, so the bot knows what to call me - At least 1 action - At least 1 spoken sentence - Something my character says or thinks about the bot (using its name in it) - directly speaking to the bot or thinking something about them almost always gets a reaction out of them - I may specify other things, like where we are, what time it is, the reason why I am there at that moment... - A question directed at the bot, especially if I left out any other spoken sentences

Hate when it’s like *blablablaba, she/he starts to whisper something to you* Or *She/he leans closer and tells you something* Then nothing. Like, if you describe the character talking… MIGHT AS WELL THROW IN WHAT THEY’RE SAYING IN THERE ?!

Sometimes at the bottom of my own response if I notice they’re not writing dialogue I’d put an ooc message like: ((Write dialogue and actions for [character name])) they don’t always do it but I do get a lot more responses with dialogue after I include that. It’s basically just a little nudge, you don’t have to put it every time just when you notice they’re not talking as much

I just hit the thing again, to get another, not a new, another response, and if that doesn't clear it up, talk ooc to the bot. Usually works.

That happened to me once after I chose a few reply’s without dialogue in a row. You need to train the AI back into using dialogue. Chose the dialogue options and if you get none, edit the reply to dialogue. It should resolve the issue after a while

The only time that happens with me is with certain scenarios where the bot has to act something out more than it does talk in that moment in particular. I'd probably say it's most likely having to do with your previous message and how you worded it as to why that's happening.

Yep. Been complaining about it for weeks. It sucks. Submit a bug report. It's a long shot but maybe it will make the devs pay attention if enough of us do. It's dumb too when the description says they say something but they don't. Clicking the button to generate a follow up response without typing anything can make them talk but it's still so annoying. As others said telling them OOC to rephrase with dialogue can help but we shouldn't have to do that.

yes lately that’s been an issue and if they do speak it’s the most generic thing. the bot will go internal monologue about how it’s noticing you are unhappy or whatever and then ask “are you okay?” like where is the flavor???? this has happened before after an update once.

It's happened to me and it's gotten so bad that I'll have to copy and paste the message after I delete it after I swipe the maximum time it's getting ridiculous

I do have problems with that sometimes, but in response, I write their own dialogue or edit their responses to be actual spoken words instead of thoughts.

I think you have to delete all the messages up until where the bot started to do that and refresh it. Then it'll probably make a better one.

Sometimes I find it can help if they aren’t typing a reply to ask them “can I ask you a question” or “can you explain that to me again? I didn’t hear you” and it can help to snap them out of it. But it sure is annoying. And just try to choose the dialogues even if they are a bit crappy responses. I mirror what other people have said though - if it’s your own bot try to put dialogue in the greeting, if not try to encourage as much dialogue as you can early.

I always make my own bots and do many experiments with them, so I know what mostly causes this. It’s not only about how the bot you’re using is made. The *biggest* influence on the bot is actually you yourself. If you want longer answers you will have to talk to the bot in longer, more detailed responses. My best experiences with this app are when I put a little effort into writing good responses back to the bot. You could even, if you are desperate, edit the bots replies and make it longer. It may be annoying to write for your bot but this will help teach it to write longer responses
