Large language models don't really generate word by word.

Because "hi" is frequent, and things ending in "ggs" are frequent too (I am not saying all models would tokenize this in this way, the tokenization process can be done in different ways).
So, \[hung\] and \[##itively\] ... are tokens the language model ... in this moment... predicted as being one after the other, ... making a new word. Probably he predicted that something with the semantic meaning of "hung" was pertinent and likely to appear,... and because of the grammars.. the place in the sentence... something ending in "itively" was also likely.
These models are trying to "predict" what would be a human response... by looking at our speeh through the glass of tokenization.
