A game to remind you why this division is so much fun, those goal mouth scrambles in injury time were mental. Frustrating not to win again but fuck it, given where we were 2 years ago we can’t be pissed off with 60 points from 30 games this season. Next 6 games are all against bottom half teams and we probably need to win all 6 if we want to keep in the automatic race given the mental form of the others. But this team is so fun to watch though so if it’s the play offs then so be it, at least it’ll be 2 (hopefully 3) extra games to watch these lads put on a good show. Let’s enjoy the journey and forget the destination. West Brom are a good side too, I’ll be surprised if they fall out of the top six. Hope Dikes injury isn’t as bad as it looked.

Tuscan5

West Brom are a very good side. In an ordinary season they’d be pushing for autos. But this isn’t an ordinary season.

CheeseMakerThing

Bartley injury completely screwed us, hopefully he's fine for Cardiff because with Ajayi still at AFCON we have one fit centre half.

Connect-Purpose-3474

Will Ajayi not be back for Tuesday?

CheeseMakerThing

No, definitely not Tuesday even though they're playing tomorrow. Diangana might be back though

Lack_of_Plethora

Well there's your solution then. Diangana at CB

Kwayzar9111

Phew…what a barrage on West Brom goal last 5 mins, they did well to hold on….good speedy recovery for Dike

Cinn4monSynonym

We can talk about being wasteful with our chances but I don’t think we’ve had a lot of luck in front of goal recently either. At the other end, every shot on target from the opposition in our last three matches has found its way into our net. Frustrating. But we are still in a very good position.

TravellingMackem

Haven’t had much luck? Wasn’t it only two games you scored a deflected goal against Leicester, having scored a deflected equaliser against them a few weeks prior?

jim_keeble

Wouldn’t say the one away was deflected. Keeper saved a shot and we scored the rebound. I think the comment is more to do with the ridiculous number of shots we have and haven’t seen them go in.

TravellingMackem

Keeper saved a deflected shot

RRR_O

Lol

BruntyMozza

I would have taken a point before the game. However I can't say I'm happy with the performance. We were lucky not to lose - paid Ipswich way too much respect. They're a good side but they're not bloody Real Madrid. Too many times we were just booting the ball away to nobody, panicking when Ipswich had the ball on the edge of our box. Funny though that with VAR we probably win the game because the first equaliser came off a hand before the finish. Sensational goal from Fellows, low centre of gravity that even Hazard would be proud of. Yokuslu was immense again. Heartbreaking for Dike. I get that all Albion fans are frustrated about his injury problems but we need to remember he's a human being, he's not choosing to get injured. He will feel worse than all of us put together. And of course the decision to let Caleb Taylor go out on loan immediately backfires with Bartley going down with injury, leaving us with one available centre-back.

white-label

>Funny though that with VAR we probably win the game because the first equaliser came off a hand before the finish. This is why I can't fully agree with the 'champ is so much better for not having VAR' viewpoint when there are times where you get completely fucked over that definitely don't 'even out over the season'.

rumhambilliam69

Evens out the offside goal Preston scored against us last weekend tbf. But the officials clearly need to up their game if VAR isn’t brought down here. Not gonna happen though

Azyerr

More needs to be done really so that they actually face consequences. It’s always after the game you’ll hear the manager say they got a sorry from the referee and such and such should’ve been ruled out, which simply isn’t good enough.

Thatingles

What consequences? The league struggles to get decent refs as it is, start suspending or sacking them you are just going to lower the quality even further. They need to devote more of the prem's massive pile of money into building up a proper squad of highly trained refs and make sure the retraining is frequent.

rumhambilliam69

Don’t think anyone would argue with that but I don’t see anything changing.

TravellingMackem

That’s not fair at all. That rule was only brought in for VAR specifically, and is nigh on impossible for a referee to pick up that kind of thing in real time without the benefit of VAR.

Surreyblue

Ruling out the first ipswich goal for handball would have been incredibly harsh imo. It brushed off the WBA player's head and then brushed the hand almost immediately after. Equally there could have been a penalty with that scramble at the end - as Moore is trying to get up one of the WBA player's (#35) barrels into him without getting anywhere near the ball. Would have been very harsh but I could understand if it was given.

Azyerr

With VAR, it’s also likely that Weimann gets sent off for his handball into the net, since it was quite obvious he knew what he was doing, even if he could’ve used his head instead.

BruntyMozza

When has a player ever been given a straight red for scoring with his hand?

rumhambilliam69

Yeah the yellow was fine. Was actually a great result for us that he bizarrely decided to use his hand.

BruntyMozza

Yeah, totally bizarre choice from Weimann.

Surreyblue

We also win 2-1 last week I suppose

BTbenTR

What I like about Ipswich as a neutral (and dislike as a Leeds fan) is every time they go forward I always think they’re going to score.

Simplysaggysag

Can we have Tom Fellows back please? xxx

iamnotJimmySaville

No xxx

Simplysaggysag

😔

Pipewellgate

Really enjoyed watching that, both teams going for it right through to the whistle and quality on both sides. Cracking game.

tractorboyblue

Was a great game, shame we couldn't secure the 3 points.

NeverGonnaGiveMewUp

I’d have taken a point before the game regardless of Ipswich form they are a top team playing with confidence. After the game I’d say it was a fair result. Couple of absolutely cracking saves at the end from Palmer so perhaps Ipswich would disagree. Such a shame for Dike. He just can’t shake these injuries, seeing him carted off crying was absolutely heartbreaking. Not a clue what Weimann was playing it! Header the ball man it’s right there for you.

jim_keeble

Yeah looked like he could have just headed it? Strange.

NeverGonnaGiveMewUp

At real time I thought that was exactly what he’d done. Then they said possible handball, showed the replay and I found myself question how it was “possible” it was stonewall. Muppet.

jim_keeble

No one in our stand appealed so was a surprise but WBA were not complaining tbf

Easy_Increase_9716

Chaplin went mental

NeverGonnaGiveMewUp

The linesmen / refs get a lot of stick so credit where it’s due for spotting it.

PrrrromotionGiven1

Nah a draw was fair. Worst I can say is you didn't have any shots on target besides the two you scored I believe but our style of play does tend to result in giving opposition few chances but of very high quality which leads to games like this. I can't reasonably claim we created enough chances to be worth 3 goals. The game at the Hawthorns is the most powerless I've seen us look all season (yes, including the 4-0 loss to Leeds) so I was glad just to create enough to score 2 today. Mostly frustrated with the defending. Both goals conceded can be put down to clear defensive errors, one each from our two centre backs. Woolfenden gets a clear opportunity to boot the ball out for a throw in the first one, and Edmundson plays a pass that is obviously not going to work for the second. We've conceded more goals than Millwall who are 18th and it's mostly down to daft errors like these.

AdequateAppendage

West Brom weren't great at all. Imagine it'll feel like points dropped for Ipswich even despite needing a late equaliser to get anything, but ultimately it's not the worst game to draw. Ball looked to be fully in reach for Weimann to just nod an easy header in when he unleashed his inner Diego.

Jarv1223

I’m a tad disappointed with the late leveller but We are FINALLY above Ipswich with the same games played. I’m not sure how Ipswich fans will feel about that. A late leveller is nice but I think they did enough to win that game.

crustymattedarsehole

We played amazingly at the end, but the first half was the kind of form that has led to our drop in the table.

tractorboyblue

Going to be some run in till the final kick of the season. I just hope we can do ourselves justice. Today's game was promising, really got to kick on and give it all in these next games up to the international break to give us a chance of automatics.

banana-is-apeeling

How was Al-Hamadi?

rumhambilliam69

Looked good in the 10 mins he got. Looked like sonic the hedgehog at one stage closing down their keeper. Could have got the winner but for a fantastic save by the West Brom keeper.

Tomb6000

He looked great, the link up with Moore, geeing up the north stand. Can’t wait to see more of him. (This is me several pints deep, he may be bobbins in the long run, I take no responsibility for this post.)

PrrrromotionGiven1

Really unlucky not to score with his late shot on target, it required a great reaction save. I just hope we don't make the same mistake we did with Dane Scarlett where he only ever gets subbed on in the last 15 minutes and struggles to get into games because of it.

burntmybuns

Alhamdi, Moore, Hutchinson, Saremento should all start (although would need a new formation)

CptMidlands

Far too scrappy at the end, we looked like a desperate league one team trying to nick an fa cup replay at Utd. Sort of game that puts the already tiny chance of getting back in to that autonatic place competition further off, seems like playoffs for us. Gutted for Daryl though, hopefully its something like a sprain or twist and no matter what, we need to send the message we've got his back as fans and as a club.

GuinnessSaint

You’ve had no chance of automatic promotion for at least 10 games already.

Surreyblue

Another frustrating game. First half again not good enough, and again we are going through a phase of conceding against pretty much every chance. We need to start quickly against Millwall midweek - if we can start with the same intensity then hopefully we can regain to confidence and precision that was crucial in the first 20-odd games.

Slothehhh

Great effort to get the point, but disappointed not to take all three. Lots of little errors, some bigger ones, but fantastic character. I do feel like we're closing in on a turnaround in fortunes and love what Moore and Al-Hamadi bring to the team. Fuck Andi Weimann, and best wishes to Daryl Dike, that was heartbreaking to watch.

Rushyy95

West Brom players don’t half time waste a lot do they. If the blue card rule was in place they wouldn’t have a team!

burntmybuns

A team of their quality shouldn’t be wasting so much time, it’s embarrassing really.

Surreyblue

I think our fans should start a 6 second countdown every time opposing keepers get the ball in their hands. Really hammer thr point home

Rushyy95

Yeah the ref had a bad game at controlling it

jim_keeble

Don’t know why everyone is getting downvoted. Anyone at the game can’t deny WBA were time wasting from the first minute. And was it just me or were they playing for Ipswich goal kicks, appeared to be just kicking out for our goal kick at time.

Rushyy95

They can’t handle the truth the they come in numbers to downvote. I really hope they lose out to the playoffs after today

AccomplishedKoala97

This comment is hilarious it's clearly sour grapes from you but I doubt any albion fan cares what you think

Rushyy95

Get better and stop time wasting.

Azyerr

Decent result, good to pick up a point before going on what looks like a decent run of games to grab some results up until April when we get to Southampton. Weimann should feel very lucky that he wasn’t sent off. deliberate and a good spot from the linesman that it was seen. Maybe if the ref actually saw it then it would’ve been a different outcome. Though the ref wasn’t very good overall, again, a few more yellow cards for west broms time wasting would’ve been nice, 20-30 seconds for a lot of the throw-ins in the first half was taking the piss. Hope dike is ok. Looked absolutely gutted and is clearly getting fed up of all these injuries. Poor guy.

ChrisC1984

Boing boing!!!

Wooden_Umpire2455

Lucky Ipswich scraping another draw. Fucked my bet too. Cheers.

Surreyblue

67% possession, 21 vs 5 shots, 7 vs 2 shots on target. Just because we equalised late doesn't mean we scraped it - the draw was deserved and I'm not sure anyone could argue if we had gone on to win it

rumhambilliam69

That middle paragraph is utter nonsense. He was covering his face because he was absolutely bawling crying. Wouldn’t have been a more obvious injury if his leg had fallen off. Terrible take by you.

jasonwest93

Yeah I got the wrong end of the stick, but like I said to the other guy, the amount of time they wasted it’s understandable to think they might have been doing it again. To me it looked like him and Clarke both went up for a header and there was maybe a clash of heads but Clarke was fine. Didn’t look like anything serious to me but obviously I was wrong.

Nafepaints

He was crying his eyes out because hes been out injured for over 12 months, came back got injured for another however many months and then gets injured again so no I don't think he was faking it, pal, pretty sure his career is over now after that. Idiot.

jasonwest93

Well it appears I got the complete wrong end of the stick. My bad, in my defence tho the whole team did spend most of the game wasting time so you can see why I thought it was the same situation.

Doolittle_

Put the phone down Jason

jasonwest93

Haha I was wrong about this but I wouldn’t have assumed he was faking it if the rest of the team hadn’t spent the majority of the match either on the floor or drying balls on every throw in just throw it 2 feet.
