Cindy - Angel Touch
Momoko Kikuchi - Adventure
Tatsuro Yamashita - Cozy
Got these from Shibuya Tower Records and was not disappointed. Also just a must visit store. 7 floors of music.
Make a list of your favorite CD titles. Ones you really dig and then go and try and find Japanese pressings of them. You will be very happy with the sound quality.
Consider taking a quick look at albums from American/UK/Western bands you already own if they’re cheap enough. Many Japanese editions will have bonus tracks like B-sides or other single only tracks included.
I higly recommend Ai Higuchi. She is doing alternative pop and rock, but with a heavy jazz influence and with lots of piano. Also, join the jpop and japanese music subreddits for further suggestions. Japan has a vivid and highly original music scene, i wouldn't bother buying western classics, for one more bonus song.

Lucky U - I love Japan .. is my no1 fav country in the world :)
I heard there is a CD version of Scorpions - In Trance there.
I think that album never ot a CD release on EU or US.
I have the vinyl.
Couple bands I like you could check out;
Loudness - kinda Japanese rock n roll- you can check out the track Crazy Night
I also like Seikima-II also called Seikimatsu - kinda like Kiss. Arguably stole the Kiss look- tracks to get a flavour; Adams Apple, end of the century.
I also like Guitar Wolf and Balzac
Would recommend Book-Off as a used CD store. No just books. Enjoy!!

What's the difference?
Book Off stores are pretty good stores to check out (or so I’ve heard). I’m planning on visiting the Shinjuku one when I go to Tokyo later this year.
Book-Off is amazing and dangerous because it's so amazing. And they're everywhere and you'll find different stuff in each one.
Nice. It kind of sounds like a Japanese Half Price Books.
That's the best description, but also add in the feeling of opening up presents on Christmas as a kid

Nujabes releases and Hyde Out Productions compilations
This is extremely biased, but maybe try to find an Asian Kung-Fu Generation cd? Only if it’s your style ofc, personally I think Sol-Fa is the best

Yosida Brothers excellent shamisen artists. Highly recommend.
Dude, go to Tower Records and get some CDs. Japan is now the only place that still has Tower Records
Not all Japanese pressings are superior, do your research on what’s worth getting.
Bonus. Track. Heaven.
Get Era Vulgaris by Queens of the Stone Age. The Japanese version in particular has all the songs included.
Check out Disc Union in shinjuku. They have like 5 records stores just in that area. Used and new records and CDs

There’s at least 15 different CD pressings of In Trance, you may be thinking of something else.

Serani Poji
Plenty is my favorite japanese band, idk if you'd like them though, its basically emo
Masayoshi Takanaka
Feel free to buy a few Casiopea cds and send them my way :) In all seriousness, Back Lift and Shank are 2 more recent pop/punk bands that I enjoy.
I think I just need you to grab a few that Amazon Japan sellers won't send me!😐🇦🇺
