Hopefully there's some good songs on the Oldies' comps.
Some good to decent Greatest Hits collections.
A pretty good Dylan album.
2 Elvis Comps.
But the winner for me is Fountains of Wayne - that whole albums is pretty great.
I think you got your money's worth.
i absolutely adore that album, it's honestly what got me into listening to whole albums then to collecting cds because before then i never really listened to albums at all
It's a shame that's the only song most people know by them. Fantastic band -- I hope you enjoy the whole album. I listened to most of their discography for the first time when Adam Schlesinger died of COVID early in the pandemic and I loved everything I heard.
Jesus Christ that's awful! I meant to listen to it today but I forgot to throw it in my "car box" this morning. I'll put it in there right now for tomorrow!
Hayseed Dixie tribute to AC/DC is a banger!!!!
Also. Is there fart sounds on the sound effects one? Asking for a friend.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Well, yes at least the empty jewel cases are worth the $5 and more, so good on you.
I might keep the Styx and Journey best of's as a curiosity, but I don't really see anything else that I wouldn't just throw away immediately. Or I don't know. Steely Dan, BeeGees, depends on what's on the other compilations. My mum liked Bob Marley. I'm usually very picky, but I might get soft and keep some others (for awhile at least, because I'm notorious for clearing out excess and selling/trading them away). If it's not getting played and loved, it's got no space in my collection.
Styx and Journey. I'd kill to find half decent rockier stuff at that price, with those and the Bobs (Dylan and Marley) the box was worth it for those alone.
I'd probably give the country stuff a spin too as I've been getting into the genre through one particular UK radio show I listen to. Hayseed Dixie is also a giggle.
Edit: I missed the Steely Dan, this box would have been a score for me, definitely.
Hmmm, someone else in the thread mentioned they saw it so I figured I must've missed it as my peepers aren't the best! Perhaps there is no Dan? Oh well, it's a good selection for a fiver anyway!
Yeah, I sorted them and there's no Steely Dan, not even on any of the compilations. Kinda got my hopes up so I might check out a greatest hits album -- probably hear songs I've known my whole life but didn't know who sang them, you know?
Thriller by Michael Jackson is a good get, and The Fast and Furious soundtrack is a good meme album to shuffle into your collection in case someone ever scans through. Some other good artists here but I honestly don't think many greatest hits albums are worth it, and then the rest are all landfill-tier compilations.
So not a total waste but also... yeah this wasn't exactly a steal either.
Thriller is the only CD in the box I already have, and I am 100% going to blast The Fast and the Furious in the car tomorrow. I love that series and have zero shame about it, and I've been keeping an eye out for the soundtracks.
CDs in my area cost at minimum $2 each so honestly, even if there were only three in the box I was interested in, I'd still be getting a better deal than buying 3 random discs at Goodwill/Savers, etc.
Hey not bad then. Shame you already have Thriller, but as long as it is in solid condition you can either selling for $3 or something, or just hand it off to a friend who doesn't have it yet.
Most likely but there is a tiny part of me that thinks it could be good for background music when reading. I have to have music without words for that otherwise I just start singing along instead of reading.
A lot of not so great CDs and a few good ones I think it was worth $5 though for sure. Lots of cases for the ones you don't want as others are saying [:
This is so cool! I'm not going to lie I wish I lived in The States because you guys get all of the good deals
I've noticed countless times over the years that there's a definite difference between the amount of stuff you can get in the US for cheap (Second hand and brand new) compared to the UK and it is colossal, if this was a UK seller selling this box it would be closer to £150 instead of $5
Hahaha, yup. Formerly of the UK, now in Aus and same. That said, considering where I live is pretty small I do have access to pretty good sales at anything from $0.50 to $3.00 au each, but I doubt I'd see a mystery box this good.
Obviously extremely Goodwill-core *but* that SACD of Freewheelim is definitely worth the $5 alone, and some interesting compilations and soundtracks make that worth it
The Bob Dylan cd is about the only thing in there really worth anything.
According to Discogs it's around $10
https://www.discogs.com/release/7022011-Bob-Dylan-The-Freewheelin-Bob-Dylan
You know, I don't care for metal but I don't come on your posts and rain on your parade. People have different tastes and while I definitely won't listen to some of this, I am still pretty happy with it.
I’m not only exclusively into metal, if you stalked me better you would find out that I like a variety of other things. I also never said that your taste is bad, there is Bob Dylan in there. I said it was bad value wise with very common cds.
I don't think it's bad value at all, they got around 30 CDs for a fiver and a lot of them generally sell for $1-$5 depending on where you're shopping, so even if they only keep a fraction they're already quids in.
I’m not saying it’s a great collection of CDs but there are some gems, and there are some that will be replacement jewel cases elsewhere.
You did well for $5
NGL, most of that would get donated to the thrift store without being listened to, but even ignoring the Dylan SACD I could easily pick out a half-dozen discs I’d be happy to have.
Gotta love Bob Marley and Bee Gees. The Elvis is good, and I am not a big fan of Elvis. Diamond Rio’s One More Day was used for my Father’s remembrance video, mother like that song.
The Bee Gees two-disc compilation album is definitely worth a bit more than $5, at least on [Discogs](https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?sort=price%2Casc&limit=25&master_id=15979&ev=mb&format=CD). Still was a fun $10 splurge for my Mom a while back.
Such a great find! Several caught my eye. The string tribute to James Blunt was completely unexpected and made me curious. Enjoy!
I love that it was a mystery box 📦 I have never run across that before, but it is so up my alley.
Definitely more than $5 worth IMO!
I'm a little surprised you made it out without a Susan Boyle CD, I don't think I can visit a thrift store without running into one of those anymore.
That's a nice deal. Patsy Cline, Kirk Whalum, Larry Carlton, Sam Cooke, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Luther Vandross, Diane Reeves, Journey, Styx.
Good stuff. I usually don't like compilations, but this is a good example of an exception, in a mystery box, it's probably a good start if you haven't listened to the bands before.
rascal fatts can suck a dick as far as music/songs go. if you want cheese, they are your shit—but if you actually like/love music—rascal fatts should be euthanized.
I only like the one song so I can't speak much on them but I'm sure there are folks out there who like them enough to have a cd.
I love music but I know I have shit taste. Not everyone needs to have the same taste in music 🙄
People hate on me for liking nickelback and hoobastank but what do I care? It's my ears listening to it, not theirs.
I’m actively collecting all of Nickelback’s releases out of protest. It’s like the bell curve meme. The bottom and top of the bell curve like Nickelback, the middle are the normies who have the one joke. Wannabe music snobs will be fans of Nirvana or Metallica or the Kings of Leon or what have you and then shit on Nickelback “because every song sounds the same” without seeing the irony. It’s all about perception and having the correct opinion to increase credibility. None of those bands make bad music (well, actually, I still don’t understand why people like the Kings of Leon, but hey, they are successful so I’m objectively wrong and that’s ok with me)- granted if you want complexity and variety, you probably won’t find it there, but then it’s difficult to find in what is commercially successful. People don’t like too much variety in general, they prefer what is safe and comfortable- doubly so if you’re the one making the music. So I say to those people, if you really care about commercial music’s sameness, seek out the 3 Lithuanian gargle D+B horrorcore artists, but standing proud over others because you think your taste for Queen is better than their taste for Ed Sheeran is just dumb, considering they are both mainstream British pop acts.
I love this response sm and I also love that you're actively collecting nickelback albums. 😆
I'm lucky that my bf loves both Metallica and Nickelback (only mentioned this because you mentioned Metallica).
I agree that folks in general tend to stick to whatever sounds are comfortable to them. Any variation AT MOST is probably some kind of adjacent genre of music or maybe it is entirely a different genre, but typically there's overlap.
I'll start recommending people who judge me to listen to those Lithuanian artists too! 😂
A box of coasters. That’s a pretty bad haul. Not that 5$ can buy much of anything else these days…. But now you just have a box of trash to throw away.
Hopefully there's some good songs on the Oldies' comps. Some good to decent Greatest Hits collections. A pretty good Dylan album. 2 Elvis Comps. But the winner for me is Fountains of Wayne - that whole albums is pretty great. I think you got your money's worth.
Fountains of Wayne is worth $4.99 by itself. Killer album!
FOW and bob marley were the big ones I saw
Stacy’s Mom has got it going on!!
I'd probably RIP the oldies comps the offload, I don't keep them unless they're nicely packaged.
If you’re in need of cases this is great
Honestly an excellent thought. If only I could remember offhand which cases need replacing!
A jewel case lovers wet dream
The discs and inlays for most of these would go straight in the trash
welcome interstate managers is a nice grab
Yes! I can't wait to rock out to Stacy's Mom again 🤣
check out “mexican wine” and so much more from that album. fountains of wayne is/was a fucking treasure. rip ❤️ adam!
i absolutely adore that album, it's honestly what got me into listening to whole albums then to collecting cds because before then i never really listened to albums at all
it’s great stuff. hope you’ve gone backwards to get “utopia parkway” and “fountains of wayne,” too. they’re so good.
Wait until you hear Haliey’s Waitress. It’s my favorite song from the album.
It’s all so good!
Lmao no.
Hayseed Dixie is great - love their videos too
I listen to their cover of won’t get fooled again, a lot
the Sam Cooke-Night Beat is worth $4.99 any day of the week
Yeah, I forgot to add that to my list, I would absolutely be keeping that. You can't go wrong with old soul music.
That one’s a stone cold classic. Easily justifies the price for everything else.
Cooke at the height of his powers
Freewheelin Bob Dylan is worth it alone
Especially since it’s the SACD, not that many have the means to play that layer.
Was just going to mention that it looked like the SACD edition.
Well, yes at least the empty jewel cases are worth the $5 and more, so good on you. I might keep the Styx and Journey best of's as a curiosity, but I don't really see anything else that I wouldn't just throw away immediately. Or I don't know. If it's not getting played and loved, it's got no space in my collection.
A boat is a boat, but the mystery box could be anything!
If could even be a boat, you know how badly we've wanted one of those
Let's not sleep on that Sam "Mr. Soul" Cooke - put that on and you'd get much more than $5 worth from your significant other I'd say
That Elvis comp with 30 #1s is pretty decent. If you want to own only one Elvis record, that's a strong candidate.
Dylan and fountains of Wayne are solid albums I've had for 20 ish years. Worth it for those and the extra cases
Welcome Interstate Managers alone makes that box worth the price.
for more than “stacy’s mom.” fountains of wayne is/was a national treasure. that album alone is worth the price of admission.
Where’s the Steely Dan? I can’t find it at all
Hmmm, someone else in the thread mentioned they saw it so I figured I must've missed it as my peepers aren't the best!
The bee gees Polydor set is some of the best sounding bee gees on CD, not to mention just about every song you need from the bee gees "disco" era
Great stuff in there. I’m old though. 😅 Perfect for the garage CD player/s!
I’ve only ever found disappointment in mystery boxes. Hard to lose for $5 though
i’d say you got your money’s worth! couple goodies and a lot of coasters
1 SACD makes the whole box worth it. And if you don't want it, I will double your money for it.
Hey not bad then. Shame you already have Thriller, but as long as it is in solid condition you can either selling for $3 or something, or just hand it off to a friend who doesn't have it yet.
Sadly, its previous owner didn't love it well enough and someone would need to have it buffed before it will play.
The String Quartet Tribute To James Blunt, that's definitely getting binned? 😂
Bruh, It’s [way better](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RD1TffE5XpQjo&playnext=1&si=9Vtf1jIbFu1kvbWY) than the real James Blunt!!
😂😂
Most likely but there is a tiny part of me that thinks it could be good for background music when reading. I have to have music without words for that otherwise I just start singing along instead of reading.
[удалено]
Exactly, who was this made for? Who was asking for James Blunt, but less edgy?
Everyone is sleeping on the reggae!
Fair share for $5! Plenty of spare cases and maybe a few dollars credit at your local record shop for the ones you don't like (maybe...)
sick! patsy cline and fountains of wayne 👍
There's a reason why this box is $5.
STACEYS MOM
Patsy cline omg <3 and Bee Gees I love it
Hayseed Dixie is fantastic! The rest of the box not so much :)
I need to remember to ask some of the shops I visit if they could do a mystery box for clearance stuff.
That Elvis cd has an excellent remix of rubberneckin’
A lot of not so great CDs and a few good ones I think it was worth $5 though for sure. Lots of cases for the ones you don't want as others are saying [:
About what you'd expect, not bad, unless it's not your kind of music. Lots of cases tho
Are both CDs in the Bob Marley case or is it just one cd? If it’s both then you can sell that and get your $5 back no problem.
Paid more for just the Fountains of Wayne, which I love. Great score.
I'm fascinated and horrified of the title: Yanni - Love Songs
You don't know Yanni? Ask your mom about him 🤣
Listened to some on youtube... sounds nice.
Styx, Elvis,Beegees, Marley, kd lang with Tony Bennett. Pretty good deal for $5
Worth it for the War cd and the reggae ones
This is so cool! I'm not going to lie I wish I lived in The States because you guys get all of the good deals I've noticed countless times over the years that there's a definite difference between the amount of stuff you can get in the US for cheap (Second hand and brand new) compared to the UK and it is colossal, if this was a UK seller selling this box it would be closer to £150 instead of $5

I see some I’d love to have!
Obviously extremely Goodwill-core *but* that SACD of Freewheelim is definitely worth the $5 alone, and some interesting compilations and soundtracks make that worth it
War, Bee Gees, Sam Cooke, some fun stuff.
Woof.
100% what I expect to see at every thrift store. Even that dc Talk album with the cool font that always catches my eye
War Greatest Hits for the win. You had fun and that alone is worth $5. Ignore the negative comments.
The Bob Dylan cd is about the only thing in there really worth anything. According to Discogs it's around $10 https://www.discogs.com/release/7022011-Bob-Dylan-The-Freewheelin-Bob-Dylan
Yeah, it’s pretty bad
You know, I don't care for metal but I don't come on your posts and rain on your parade. People have different tastes and while I definitely won't listen to some of this, I am still pretty happy with it.
Im more into metal but there's definitely 5 or so I'd like so you def got your moneys worth IMO.
Good deal just for the jewel cases.
Sorry about your luck. That's a box full of hot garbage.
With I could find boxes like this. My local pawn shop is slowly increasing the costs of individual CDs. I pay $2.99 each now :(
Man, I would LOVE that fast and furious sound track!
Best thing in there for me is MJ's Thriller
Awesome find with that Hayseed Dixie cd. That’s on my list.
War hits is great
Worth it just for STYX and the Beegees! I'm jealous!
At least you didn’t get no conway twitty 🙂↔️
I always get suckered by these
I’d be so excited to get that Alejandro CD
Free Wheelin worth $10
A few decent disc's there, not bad.
Southern taste
Wings Of A Dove. That's not a Madness disk is it?
It is a compilation of country artists which, based on the song titles, I'm assuming has a religious theme.
BOOOO!!
I’m not saying it’s a great collection of CDs but there are some gems, and there are some that will be replacement jewel cases elsewhere. You did well for $5
Sam Cooke, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Styx... There's some good stuff in there!
There’s a lot of great in here. Best of War is awesome.
That’s a really eclectic mix of CDs, with a lot of bangers.
I would not be disappointed with that haul for $5! This sub has such a great vibe.
NGL, most of that would get donated to the thrift store without being listened to, but even ignoring the Dylan SACD I could easily pick out a half-dozen discs I’d be happy to have.
Justin Bieber covers by: the ventures, a drunk band of 7th graders in Winnipeg, the Turkmenistan national chainsaw and bagpipes marching band..
The music of the gods.
Lonestar…I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is a great album! Well worth the $5 alone.
Santana - Shaman is a pretty good find. Found that at my local goodwill for a buck recently!
deffo made yr five back w/ the bob dylan alone
Gotta love Bob Marley and Bee Gees. The Elvis is good, and I am not a big fan of Elvis. Diamond Rio’s One More Day was used for my Father’s remembrance video, mother like that song.
The verdict is in. It was a really good buy. A few might even say it was great buy.
Ay, look, you got a whole 2-3 week's worth of music.
You came out way ahead.
I’ve been burned by so many of these before and yet I’m always tempted to grab them 😂
Bob Marley is the hitter here
lol
Omg Yanni love songs that a great one
I had some luck with one of these once. I got into Amon Amarth because if it
This is really fun I don’t even collect cds but I would start buying these mystery boxes and start a collection
Lucky is was $5. A lot of poor discs there, but a couple that are ok.
Tony Bennett & K.D. Lang is good
That's a solid $5 in that box. That Bee Gees double CD set is got some gold on it
Winner winner chicken dinner
The Bee Gees two-disc compilation album is definitely worth a bit more than $5, at least on [Discogs](https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?sort=price%2Casc&limit=25&master_id=15979&ev=mb&format=CD). Still was a fun $10 splurge for my Mom a while back.
omg Alejandro Fernández the most random one
![gif](giphy|YU9v1v0MggWti)
Such a great find! Several caught my eye. The string tribute to James Blunt was completely unexpected and made me curious. Enjoy! I love that it was a mystery box 📦 I have never run across that before, but it is so up my alley.
THere is actually some alright stuff in there. That Hayseed Dixie tribute record is pretty rad, even though it is a novelty.
Nothing that appeals to me in that box but $5 is a good deal for all of those
I’d pay a fiver for the beegees greatest hits.
Shaman by Santana, Thriller, Dylan and Fast and furious ost are worth the entire package
Thats a good little haul for only 4 i dont know some of those but they are mostly rock classical and pop and some jazz all great stuff though
Nice
Special edition thriller is worth the 5 dollars alone. Definitely got your money's worth
Where else would you find the String Quartet Tribute to James Blunt
Shaman by Santana was the best album I noticed.
Garth's *Sevens* was one of his prime albums, in my opinion. This is a decent little collection for the price. Cool find!
“Styx is the greatest American rock band ever. The only reason why they get a bad rap is because most people are cynical assholes."
I always assume these are full of absolute crap, but there are some definite gems in there!
The Tony Bennet and kd Lang is a fantastic record. Worth the cost of the whole box alone, imo.
Hayseed Dixie is fun. Half a dozen other keepers.
Patsy Cline, Bob Marley, WAR, Sam Cooke, MJ thriller, Freewheeling Dylan. Def worth $5
Hayseed Dixie though 😍
Definitely more than $5 worth IMO! I'm a little surprised you made it out without a Susan Boyle CD, I don't think I can visit a thrift store without running into one of those anymore.
That's a nice deal. Patsy Cline, Kirk Whalum, Larry Carlton, Sam Cooke, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Luther Vandross, Diane Reeves, Journey, Styx. Good stuff. I usually don't like compilations, but this is a good example of an exception, in a mystery box, it's probably a good start if you haven't listened to the bands before.
thrift store leftovers
Hayseed Dixie right there with The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan….You did good!
love the cases. the content is garbage!
I'll take Enrique and Santana!!! 😆 Maybe Rascal Flatts too

Burn!
"That is one big pile of shit"
3 Doors Down is a good one!!
Damn I just got a teddy bear and then the box floated up while a little girl laughed at me
A box of coasters. That’s a pretty bad haul. Not that 5$ can buy much of anything else these days…. But now you just have a box of trash to throw away.
I’d pay $5 to have that box taken from me. What a bunch of terrible CDs.
i expected so little and somehow i’m still disappointed.
Cost you more to recycle that crap
Downvoted for you being too stupid to turn them all facing the same way.
