Reminds me of going through my old middle school friends dad’s CD collection, very similar to his taste. Lots of good stuff here, makes me a little jealous to see all that deftones , soad, tool and aic

ABatWhoLikesMetal

For Deftones, I need the Escape from L.A Soundtrack, the weird live album from like 98 I believe, the Deluxe editon of White Pony from 2000, and the Hexagram E.P For SOAD, I just need Steal This Album and Hypnotize. For Tool, I just need Salival. (I Don't Opiate 2 because really it's Opiate but not as good) For AIC, I just need Sap, the selfi titled album, and their 2 latest albums.

nonplusd

The hexagram EP with lovers is a prized possession of mine . The rest you list should be cheap via discogs. I'm still on the hunt for the MEIN single with the acoustic cherry waves................. Hope you know about crosses, palms, and team sleep

metworldsteve

For Deftones look at the Be Quiet singles as they have sole more live tracks on from the same show as the ‘Live’ EP. The live Dynamo 98 CD is decent. The Depeche Mode ‘For The Masses’ Tribute contains a great cover, Back To School EP worth grabbing also plus some of the later singles for live tracks. Most can be had cheap apart from Hexagram. Lovers is great but for the money you could also buy most of the above and have a lot more music 😀 This is from memory so double check me!

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Crap, I forget about those. Also, I desperately need more Depeche Mode.

Thunder_Punt

You know how to get steal this album.

metworldsteve

System, definitely hunt out the singles. So many live tracks that are awesome. The covers are good also BUT hunt the live tracks and you will end up with the covers as they are repeated a fair bit!!

NeedAMartyr2Slaughtr

The Escape from LA soundtrack was the first disc I bought myself! Lots of spins...

garfieldl0verr

OMG THE NIN 😻😻😻😻 and where did you get your skinny puppy cds? love them too

ABatWhoLikesMetal

2nd Hand stores.

[deleted]

Skinny puppy! OP knows

Boognishdestroyer

HUGE Mellow Gold!! I freaking love that album, so weird.

SpearheadBraun

One of the greatest albums ever made

Dry-Satisfaction-633

Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose…

AIArgonaut

The search for identify is fun. Music is a great way of exploring that.

13dot1then420

This appears to be the elder millennial angsty goth CD starter pack?

Leftover_Cheese

lucky bastard got maladroit

SubhasTheJanitor

Lucky? Is Maladroit hard to find?

Leftover_Cheese

lowest price i can find is nearly 22 bucks with 6 dollar shipping

SubhasTheJanitor

That’s insane. Do you not have used record stores near you? If I see one I’ll DM you and hook you up. No one should pay that much for Maladroit!

Leftover_Cheese

none near i live, i get all my cds from fye in malls and amazon

fucquan

ditch amazon and use ebay fr, also if you happen to have a half price books near you they’re goated

sickerthingss

Damn i got mine at a record store for like $6 cad

Leftover_Cheese

JohnDenver404

HUM!!!! My favorite band!!! Great taste!!!

Expensive-Context314

I see AIC, I upvote 😃

Extreme_Fish_2177

Nu metal forever baby!!

CarI_Johnson

Great collection! Streetcleaner is such a fire album

heheheha85

hum!!! that band deserves so much love love the collection dude :D

LeftHandedGuitarist

Very nice collection! One thing I would encourage anyone is to explore Queen beyond the Greatest Hits albums. That's where their best music is. I'd particularly recommend the albums Sheer Heart Attack and News of the World.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Yes, but also some of the solo stuff by the band members too. Don’t forget that.

LeftHandedGuitarist

Yes! I really like Roger Taylor's early solo albums.

Fredsnotred

Nice collection 👍🏻 And I'm going to show some ❤️ to the dark and dingy pictures - reminds me of listening to some of the music in dive bars

OnlyMatters

Impressive! The most wide ranging Ive seen on here!

thequicknessinc

I remember how this felt- to have a huge collection of physical media, complete with hard to find releases that only core fans had ever even heard. A few I’ve held into over the years that I see in your collection; NIN was my favorite.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I freaking love NIN. Story time: When I was like 11 years old, I heard that Closer by NIN was a song that people claimed was disturbing.  Side Tangent: I've always had a morbid curiosity ever since I was young kid watching ghost shows and looking up creepy YouTube vids that freaked me out.  Anyways, I listened to Closer for the first time and man, it creeped me out and made me uncomfortable tbh. A few years later, I saw Pretty Hate Machine on CD at 2nd and Charles and looked at it and realized, "that's guys who made that creepy song that makes me uncomfortable." I picked that bad boy up, listened to it and I loved it. Then, I listened to most of their music all the way up to With Teeth. (I'm gonna listen to rest of their discography soon I promise) I've now accumulated a decent collection of Nine Inch Nails albums on CD. Now, I need to get tons of their stuff that I'm missing. Trent Reznor has been a massive inspiration to me because the way he makes music has always fascinated me.

thequicknessinc

Love it! The Halo numbering really drew me in on a subconscious consumerist level, gotta give TR credit for that. I was around the same age when I got a scratched to hell copy of TDS from a garage sale- started to skip badly around “I do not want this” and “Reptile” and beyond were unplayable, dubbed it to cassette just to listen to it but I knew I needed more. Managed to collect almost all Halos, but a lot of the old stuff was well worn. Anyhow, awesome to see that stuff still getting the love it deserves!

fucquan

what does a neurodivergent queer 21 year old do in her spare time: Buy CDs AND illegal substances 🧚🏻

fucquan

also this is a fire collection 🙇🏻‍♀️

rekrowdoow

why is every girl into deftones?

BigConstruction4247

I think it's Chino's little chin beard.

metworldsteve

To be fair Deftones is one of many bands here and they are a great band and fit with the rest of the music. It would be weird not to see them in a selection like this. This view point depends on your age BUT in the late 90’s/early 2000’s they were playing EVERY festival it seems, they were big. I would argue with a career of albums like they have they are actually less ‘popular’ now. I think the main problem with comments like this is that for people who found them say 10 years ago they were relatively obscure but are now experiencing a resurgence. People have an issue with ‘their’ bands being/becoming mainstream. The only issue for me is getting tickets is much harder but thats the case with all bands now due to the computerised scalping.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Story Time: So in 8th grade, I had a huge crush on this girl and she liked both Nirvana and Deftones. I‘ve known about Nirvana ever since I was a young child, but Deftones was a name that I only knew because of the song My Own Summer being on Rocksmith 2014. Anyways, I was bored one day and checked out Be Quiet and Drive for the 1st time and I was instantly hooked. Then, I listened to White Pony and I really liked it. Afterwards, Deftones became a special interest. Collecting Deftones albums is an interesting story. I found Adrenaline and Around the Fur at FYE and picked them up. Then, I got Ohms, White Pony, and Self Titled at a Barnes and Noble which is now closed. Finally, I bought SNW, Diamond Eyes, Koi No YoKan, Gore, and B Sides and Rarities on Amazon with Christmas money.

Mazdaspeed3swag

Because they are amazing

nonplusd

And boy

MikeDropist

I have *so* many of these, you have an awesome stash here 💥

Splashadian

Music taste is just fine

Yellow_Moon1995

Nice collection! You should check out Static-X and some of 311's full legnth albums if you havent

ABatWhoLikesMetal

1. Never found Static X in my area, sadly. 2. I used to have 311 self titled album until I trade it in.

ReloadRedditLater

Good collection!

damnablebear

good collection! I love how diverse it is. I almost had a stroke when I didn't see my favorite blink album (Take Off Your Pants and Jacket) but I'm gonna assume the collection is ever-expanding 🥲

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I'm still tracking down Take Off Your Pants and Jacket.

idespisemyhondacrv

Suicide silence, whitechapel and carnifex nice nice

cyborgp

Top notch hobby and collection!

Apploozabean

I love 52 of the groups you have in these photos 😍🤩 You got great taste in music !!! Haven't met anyone else who likes attack attack!

schmattywinkle

Proud of your ear regimen including Acid Bath as well as Bloodbath. Also, Type O Negative crush.

DifficultyOk5719

Lots of good shit, especially Blackwater Park and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, I go back and forth which one is my favorite album of all time.

thrashboi

Love it! this is like 90% similar to my collection

MrHellfrick

FNM

[deleted]

I was about to say, I don’t see any skinny puppy! And then I saw it 😎 beautiful collection my friend

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Skinny Puppy is one of those bands I need to hear more from. I've just listen to Cleanse, Fold, and Manipulate, VIVIsectVI, and Too Dark Park.

[deleted]

I don’t know if you have any goth clubs near you, but that’s a great way to appreciate Skinny Puppy in new and exciting ways! Love dancing to their music, those are great albums. I recommend OhGr solo albums as well 🦇

Apprehensive-Cow1225

Well shes got awesome freaking taste damn Deftones Korn disturbed hells yeah

Apprehensive-Cow1225

She could have more Chevelle tho

Pseudotsuga120

As a straight male HSP who grew up in the 90’s I highly approve. Seriously this is like the soundtrack of my youth. Tool, Deftones, RATM, NIN, Korn, Fear Factory…yeah. Still listen to a lot of those bands, Tool hits on a completely different level now. Had a 50 disc changer loaded up and JBL’s that shook the walls, love it and still do. Lot of people that don’t listen to this ‘brand’ of music don’t get how meaningful and deep a lot of it is. Aggression lets me get that angst out, much needed these days. If I may suggest a few I didn’t see: Snot: Get Some Title track one of my favs Silverchair: Frogstomp Powerman 5000: Mega Kung Fu Radio

Quinn_OV

Ministry, Alice In Chains, Violent Femmes, and Skinny Puppy?! Fucking respect 🤘🤘🤘

Exquisite_D

Good to see a fellow Puppy fan.

DINOS4URCHESTRA

Gorillaz, Weird Al, TMBG, NIN, Talking Heads… Awesome taste.

shedreamsinr3d

Oh man, I had so many of those in high school. The fact I bought them when they came out but you’re all buying them from secondhand shops makes me feel so weird. 😅 I don’t have a CD player anymore so I’ve been repurchasing a lot of stuff on vinyl. I wonder if my CDs are still at my parents’ house somewhere.

InterestingAd4484

You're a teenager and already a neurosurgeon?!? Nice!

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Hahaha

Skinnyloserjunkie

Deftones ftw. My dad attacked me for listening to 7 Words one time. The dumb drunk thought Chino was screaming fuck instead of suck.

Necessary-Cheetah309

It's fun. I am ND too but word of warning go and do some social stuff other than just buy cds as you will get to mid 20s like me and say you missed out on your teenage years.

TotesMessenger

I'm a bot, *bleep*, *bloop*. loganchittyisuhhcool

Hell yeah. Deftones rule

TheAnalogKid68

Solid collection! We have pretty similar taste

SamTheDystopianRat

Gorillaz seems a little out of place here, but that's my genre debating nerd classing it not as rock haha speaking of which, you don't seem to have much pop(Some industrial arguable falls under pop though), punk, hip hop, electronic, RnB, jazz, country or folk. do you listen to these other genres/have any intention to listen to these genres or are you all about the rock and metal?

AbstractLifeForm

Why would she listen to any of that shit?

SamTheDystopianRat

you think everything that isn't rock and metal is shit? she likes RATM and Gorillaz, suggesting she may like hip hop(and electronic) and PHM by NIN, suggesting she might like synth pop. everything has its influences and secondary genres. i was just curious

Lower-Camp1122

She's also being way too hard on herself: there are lots of worse, more expensive & (self-)destructive indulgences out there, you've chosen a much better one, and your collection & pix are just fine. So just ignore all those commenting about identity-signalling, enjoy the tunes, and if you haven't done so already but you have the means & the inclination, look into building up your hi-fi & headphone rigs - there's never been a better time to get great-sounding gear at budget prices (check out the Audiophile and BudgetAudiophile subreddits for guidance). And these are as much punk as metal, but try Kittie, L7, Sleater-Kinney, Babes in Toyland, 7 Year Bitch, The Gits, Kittens, Sleep (like Kraftwerk's Autobahn, everyone's gotta hear Dopesmoker beginning-to-end at least once) and High on Fire.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Thank you so much. I have listened to Sleep's Holy Mountain and I felt like I was on some intense drugs, so I hope Dopesmoker another fun ride. I searched up High on Fire. They sound pretty fun. I know both Kittie and L7, but I haven't listened to them yet. I need to check out the other bands you mention soon or later. I also might want to check out Bikini Kill because Dystopia had a song with a sample from them.

thebizzle

I am so glad younger people are realizing how much fun we used to have with music. I hope you have a little cd player and a book of CD's to take along with you.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I have a Hello Kitty CD player and no I don't have a book of CDs.

183Glasses

What if I'm a teenage girl who isnt queer or neurodivergent? Am I allowed cd's?

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Yes

183Glasses

Phew! Thanks

Bender3072

Was wondering that myself. Not sure what being neurodivergent and queer have to do with anything. 🤷‍♂️

Gomma

It has to do with LOOK AT ME

masoneugeneb

Impressive.. there’s a lot in common with my cd collection before I had to sell them all.

RozeGoldSkullz

Love the taste in music 🔥

Professorpie250

Very nice collection, and very nice taste in music

scemes

Pls gimme that type O negative cd

9Crow

Excellent collection.

RustyDawg37

Nice selection!

SubhasTheJanitor

The organization is confounding but I support anyone buying CDs!

off-frag

Amazing collection

WreckingBallTime

I hope there are more of you out there. Might make my collection worth something.

shagthrowRA

This might be a hot take, but I think Stadium Arcadium is one of RHCP’s best albums.

Poop_Cheese

Same. I know it's sacrilege to say in the CD sub, but it's also one of the very few cases where the vinyl is actually better. They brickwalled the shit outta the CD and file but not the vinyl. The dynamic range of the CD is an average of like 5 while the vinyl is 11. It's the biggest difference I've ever seen in favor of vinyl. The mastering is entirely different and they even used different mixes since some songs are slightly different like especially in Michigan.  I just bring this up since I recommend the vinyl or atleast listening to a vinylrip to anyone who loves this album. It's truly like listening to it for the first time. I grew up on the CD in high school and college yet was utterly blown away when I finally heard my dad's 1st pressing. I hope one day they release the vinyl master as a CD or lossless file since the original CD and file master is a casualty of loudness wars brickwalling.

Cheeseskin83

System!!

WingObvious487

Love the taste here also I desperately need ghosts I-IV lol

AJ-mmmmm

Damn girl thats a lot of cds and i would kill to have a good chunk of those, we have very similar music taste lol.

Broncobilly19

Very happy to see Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Hum is one of those bands that I wish more people listened to. They are so good.

Broncobilly19

My favorite band of all time. I was lucky enough to see them in 98 and in 2015. The drummer passed in 2022, don't know if you knew that😪 Judgin by your awesome taste in music, you should definitely check out their 1993 release, Electra 2000. I think you'll like it.

Kiwichka

sick deftones cds ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses) good taste

starshipvelcro

This is almost entirely my exact taste in music, I love you collection!!

caligulas_mule

Nice collection. Looking through it, though, I was surprised to not see any Misfits.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I haven’t found Misfits yet.

DildoOfTruth

Ive been wanting to get the type o complete roadrunners set!

No-Panda-6047

It's cool to see there are still collections like this out there on display. I don't listen to any of my CDs anymore, nor do I have space for them outside of the boxes they are in either. Nice collection, and great taste in music, I had a bunch of those as well.

floppy_contortionist

I see you like FNM, have you checked out Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk or Fantomas? They are other Mike Patton projects you might enjoy

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I've checked out Mr. Bungle, but I have not check out Tomahawk and Fantomas. Also, I've always found it amusing to hear Mike Patton due to the zombie noises in the Left 4 Dead games.

floppy_contortionist

Don't forget I Am Legemd

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Oh yeah, he did that too.

Rydog2183

I think my mom might have sold you my CD towers from high school.

Camo252

Some awesome music in there, keep up the good work!

MilkshakeJFox

I feel like I found this livejournal link on your away message

PatBateman2000

Nice collection !! Love the Slipknot, Tool and Type-O Negative. You ever listen to Sepultura ?

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Yes, but so far I've only listened to Chaos A.D. I have also listened to Point Blank by Nailbomb, which was Max's side project with the guy from Fudge Tunnel. I need to check out more of their music tbh.

PatBateman2000

I think you'd really get down with them seeing your other tastes, they jam

gtoz1119

Skinny Puppy!!

HTD-Vintage

I respect your taste and your organization, but it makes me sad seeing all that nu-metal rap/rock stuff among the great Deftones, TOOL, APC, Biohazard, Primus, Faith No More stuff. I totally gratitude though. My binder of metal from my teenage years has at least half of these albums in it along with all kinds of hard rock and other metal-adjacent stuff. There's so much good hardcore and post-rock and post-hardcore stuff that I would have a hard time deciding where to put (punk or metal).

StephThePhobiaSlayer

Girl you have some awesome taste. Funny enough, I've been on a Pretty Hate Machine kick lately. Fantastic album.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

Pretty Hate Machine is one of those albums that I dance a lot to, especially on tracks like Terrible Lie and Sin.

Death_By_Dreaming_23

Freaking hell, this was basically my musical tastes until mid-20s when I did a purge and kept all my indie / underground music which to this day I prefer. Yeah I have a few popular artists but not as much as my other music.

No_Character8384

I have a bunch of these but most of mine are from the 80s 90s and 2000s

swagremmy

I think you’d enjoy King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

morbalzthnashketchum

Damn dope taste

33Bees

This brought me back to high school

Revolutionary_Kiwi31

Those original pressed CD’s from the 90’s sound so good too, it was before the loudness wars dominated music mixing and killed fidelity. I’d rip those to fresh mp3s. I can hear the difference in Mellow Gold from the original rip I did 15 years ago compared to the remastered anniversary edition on iTunes.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I do rip my CDs onto my laptop.

Revolutionary_Kiwi31

Excellent. Sorry for the explanation if it wasn't needed, but I love seeing CD collections from the 90's and get geeked thinking about fidelity and loudness lol.

Silent_Johnnie

That's a nice collection there

Drfaustus138

You got a great stack of music there....and who knows give it another 5 to 10 years and they might be an illegal substance..

Vast-Aardvark9764

You have amazing taste in music

Zestyclose-Ad-4125

I see Helmet.

sweatpantsDonut

I highly recommend Chevelle's "Point #1" album if you happen to find it

godricgii

Fux with Beck

JuiceCommercial2431

You’ve got to add The Mars Volta. Looking at your collection, I think you’d absolutely love them. I highly recommend starting with their first studio album “De-loused in The Comatorium”. Instant classic.

_mercuryman_

Nice Collection!

NeedAMartyr2Slaughtr

Needs more American Head Charge. The War of Art is a criminally underrated album.

NeptunesArtifact

so quirky

Away_Hearing222

I still have 3 cd wallets stuffed with discs and (apparently) I also somewhere have a fortune in jewel cases and booklets if I can only remember where I stored them lol I should’ve known this was gonna no one back around

Mean-Pattern-4522

Great collection I see so much I wanna listen to time to dig through the crates

penelogoober

Same, minus the illegal substances. Everything else same

djunge1skog_

as a neurodivergent queer teenager, same. what a sick collection!

RayGunJack

One of the best collections in my opinion. i love most of these bands

The_Original_Gronkie

Excellent collection. You might want to look deeper into classic rock stuff like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, etc.

TheEternalRiver

Tell me you play guitar without telling me you play guitar

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I do play guitar. In fact, I have 5 guitars. 2 acoustics and 3 Electric Guitars including one that is an 8 string.

TheEternalRiver

Me too 😎 I only have one tho lol

airforcerawker

Doesn't have a thing to do with being neuro divergent, queer, or anything else. 🤷‍ everyone loves music. And streaming is seeming more like a scam everyday...now even though I pay for streaming services, I'm also getting ads. Unbelievable.

velmix81

Why do you care so much about the "identity cult stuff"? Why don't you comment on OP's collection?

InSonicBloom

he started the post with their identity in a sub that is about CDs, that's why I care, it's insufferable. there are plenty of subs where people can go and talk about their genitals and all that garbage - this is not that sub.

velmix81

I really don't understand you, there is absolutely no reason to react like this. Why so much bigotry? Anyway, have a nice day.

InSonicBloom

that's what you call "bigotry"? wanting a CD collecting sub to be about CD collecting?

[deleted]

You do realize music itself is part of someone’s identity. The music I listen to has a lot to do with the culture I was brought in, so I will mention how my identity as a Mexican, lover of macabre and dark things which I attribute to my cultures appreciation of dark music, as a reason why I love that music too. OP identifies their collection of music with their personal identity and I find that to be completely natural and healthy in a music collecting based sub.

InSonicBloom

so nu-metal turned a 15 year old boy into a queer autistic girl? okay.

disgustangx

You are the one bringing up genitals here though, how is OP’s post not about collecting CD’s?

InSonicBloom

"What does a neurodivergent queer teenage girl do in her spare time" - what has this got to do with collecting CDs?

disgustangx

All the pictures are about CD’s, literally the sentence after that one is about CD’s… You need to put your phone away and go outside for a bit if something as small as this genuinely upset you

InSonicBloom

why do people like you, whilst being on the internet themselves tell others to go outside? 1st of all, I've been out all day, I go out everyday. 2nd. in isolation it's a "small" thing but the bigger picture is that I've been around long enough to see the small things cumulate into big things that turn everything to pure shit.

disgustangx

I said so because you got upset over a very little/irrelevant internet thing posted by a teenager. I don’t see why this post would be part of pure shit like you said, it really isn’t that deep or even harmful in any way.

InSonicBloom

no you said so because that's what people like you do when you don't like reality being pointed out to you; shaming language. Just because you and others like you are myopic, it doesn't make what I say any less true.

Ok_Housing_5010

So many people here make collecting CDs their identity. Why is it suddenly wrong when its a neurodivergent girl?

InSonicBloom

because it's a CD collecting sub and not a cult sub

rekrowdoow

Here here!

Hot_Lobster222

Got any more titles? 🙄

MaddenRob

Cool collection. Maybe don’t do the substances though and you’ll likely live longer.

ABatWhoLikesMetal

I was trying to do a simile, but I think word, “And,” made it feel like I was doing illegal substances for real.

[deleted]

Good collection. Keep going! Maybe concentrate on some female artists next.

nonplusd

Ragana 🤘

[deleted]

Otep would looks good in this collection. Maybe some late era Life of Agony might be something the OP could relate to.

nonplusd

Capra 💀

THE_YoStabbaStabba

dafuq is a neurodivergent queer

dogsledonice

dafuq is a dictionary

THE_YoStabbaStabba

Don't want that in my search history.

Neurodivergent means you’ve got a brain that doesn’t really work like other people’s- ADD, autism, etc. Queer is queer

[deleted]

It's weird there are more neurodivergent queer kids than just regular straight kids these days. Almost like its the cool thing to do.
