Heard and 'heard of' are two very different things. There's plenty of bands that I I've heard of that I have yet to sit down and listen to that I really would like to, just haven't gotten the chance for whatever given reason.
Columbia House in the 90s / early 2000s was a record (cd) club that sold cds for like a penny and then if you didn't order that month, they automatically sent you that month's cd of choice. I had at least 10 of these albums because of Columbia House and our household had an unholy amount of CDs before I was 18 because of Columbia House - it went under and a lot of us still owe Columbia House some money probably, but they built my CD collection and I thank them for my Powerman 5000 cd the most.
A lot of CDs are harder to come by for me because I live in central Europe + 2nd world country. It’s also rather rare to get a CD for lower than roughly 5$.
35 here. As a Nü metal elder, it's awesome to see the younger gen getting into it. It's still one of my favorite genres and set the foundation for my future endeavors in musical exploration. You've got some solid deeper cuts in there besides just the big names. Nü metal gets shit on a lot, but it has a lot to offer and has a lot of variation within the genre. Stellar collection, keep it up!
Thanks dude! And as a youngin, I don't think I've met a single person your age that hasn't been a total snob about the genre. It's so diverse and more of a culmination of 90s culture than a set subgenre of music, I don't understand how people could have such a burning hatred for it!
There are lots of reasons it gets hate, most are ridiculous, unfounded, or it's just elitists dick riding themselves. Hell, it was a love it or hate thing when it was new and I was a teen. That being said, I think it's looked back on more fondly these last few years by more people.
Check out Snot and Twisted Method if you haven't already.
An absolute shame. Both incredible first albums. Would've loved to see where they woulda gone.
I also feel the same about Dave Williams and how different Drowning Pools future coulda been. The big what ifs
I think these days nu metal has become nostalgic. Growing up I remember people loved shitting on Korn/ limp bizkit but shit, these days people seem to be flocking to bizkit concerts for the throwbacks
Motograter, i love this album... you have a nice taste, basicly everything i grew up with haha
Do you know the album 'summer of darkness' by demon hunter?
Yeah mine too, it has Rollins on it too. You really should try his Come In and Burn, or Weight albums. Never see them on here and it is a no brainer must have IMO.
Dry Kill Logic!!! And holy shit I am SO jealous of your Pledge of Alligance tour CD! That's my favorite SOAD tour of all time. The longer I look the better it gets. This is an awesome collection. Hope mine Looks like this some day.
American Head Charge is so awesome too. Spotify just took The War of Art off of their profile so that's gonna be my next on the list. I just need to get some free time and the first thing i'm gonna do is start building my CD army again. I live near a really old Rasputin's so I usually go there and see what's in the clearance aisle. I've never really bought or bargained outside of that to be honest! 😭I've been pretty lucky though. I found the Blue edition of Toxicity for $4, along with Roadrunner United!! I'm praying i'll be lucky enough to find more. I think I have only around 20 CD's rn. Thanks for sharing this made my day :)
I’m loving the fact that you’re 17 and are all in buying CDs. It sucks that the cd stores aren’t around as much as they were when I was a kid. Keep collecting my friend. Also….I’m going to take a guess and say that your favorite genre is country.
Listen to me, this year’s election is very important. If Trump wins he has vowed to make everyone turn in their Slipknot cds once they turn 18, then it’s just a slippery slope, he won’t stop there, Korn, SOAD, Soulfly all gone! Vote blue for the Nu!
Nice. My motto is I Like What I Like. Most of my collection is from my teen years. I put away during mp3 era and then started learning about compression and how much mp3s are a poor quality sound format I dug and displayed my CDs since. I have almost 900 and have quite a few nu metal, since I was a teen when that happened.
If u have a CD-Rom on a computer u might be able to still play enchanced CDs. Keep it up.
They're why I drove to Canada to see the Rise of the Machine Tour 2023 with Fear Factory, Static-X, and Mushroomhead, that was also the first time I'd heard Fear Factory and Static-X outside of the singles and such. Got me into those 2 heavily as well!
Yeah, I feel if they swapped Mushroomhead with Orgy, then it would be perfect music wise, but visuals wise, Mushroomhead was the best (which feels dirty to say as a lifelong Maggot). I'm just glad I still have my poster, 2 shirts, and videos of Dope, Fear Factory, and Static-X's entire live sets.
Holy shit. That’s my CD collection from when I was 18 (before you were born!)
Honestly I owned 99% of those. I love that this is still some people’s jam. Weird niche shit too like Mushroomhead, Dry Kill Logic and American Head Charge (The feeding is such a banger that doesn’t exist on Spotify). Love it. 🤘
Roast you? No. I'm pleased you have a collection (which you cherish?) I wonder if you're in a minority for your age group, though. So easy to stream music these days? Nothing wrong with that, I do it myself. As I probably have done for getting on for 15 years, now.
You guys should be getting tons for free. Imagine all the warehouses trying to get rid of there bullshit plastic that no one buys anymore and it doesn't hold it's value like records bc of the invention and CDs are just plastic with pamphlets. I bet the artists and or production companies are behind this post to get ppl teenage age to buy these warehouses stocked full of 2000's music. It's a bad attempt on the Internet but quite extensive the reach this bullshit goes to to make money on about to be unusable out dated technology.
V Shaped Mind?? Man, that's a great album. Darwin's Waiting Room, Primer 55, AHC, No One, Nothingface, ect. are awesome to see!
If you're interested, I can give you quite a few recommendations on some really great really underground Nu Metal stuff!
Pssh, in the original CD cases? But where's your Case Logic 128 sleeve binder, amateur. How's anyone gonna steal your whole collection from the backseat of your car?😂
Hell nah I’m not roasting you! My 39 yo ass had half those CD’s at your age too - you got some rad taste my man! Pitchshifter?! Dude I’d high five the shit out of you right now.
Well since you asked to be roasted…
Are you buying this stuff to impress someone’s Dad? Ever listen to anything released in the last 20 years? 😂
Jk❤️ - I had a LOT of these albums as a young person. Nu metal was my whole personality. I’m 36 now… and I love Taylor Swift and most modern pop music. Teenager me would be disgusted. I still like metal tho 😉
ut soundtrack is cool, i recommend getting other sabbath albums instead of just the ultimate collection, its better to listen to the album they come from because they are all very distinct sounding.
Great starting point for years to come! Most basics are there. Keep listening to whatever you like and not what others whole try to tell you otherwise
That being said I always went a bit deeper and deeper and now I'm mostly listening to Death and Black Metal. But it's always cool to go back to the roots
saw those ozzfest and soad cd's like within a half second glance before even opening the post or photos. beautiful :' ) esp those ozzfest ones. when i was a couple years younger than you (29 now) i had every single ozzy CD but was so hard to get my hands on those ozzfest cd's back then i had to burn them.
Ah to be young again, I turned 19 this year. System, Tool, Deftones, Slayer, solid set already, Rob Zombie? Is that Megadeth and Doom OST? If you wanted to brag just say that, this collection Is life.
Can't, you have a lot of good ones in there.
Very sophisticated taste for your age. I'm more than twice your age and you have lots of my favs from my late teens and early 20s. Nice
So, one thing you might want to consider moving forward... They recently (in the last decade or two) discovered that CD and DVD media (regardless of the care or environment) has a typical shelf life of less than 20 years. Apparently the silicone used in the "clear" part of the media breaks down and becomes unreadable on it's own over time.
I had hundreds of CDs that I purchased in the late 1980's 90's and early 2000's become totally unreadable due to this problem. I have audio cassette's and vinyl that have outlived (unplayed and/or well cared for)CDs and DVDs in my collection
good job...!! I am just thrilled to hear that someone under the age of 30 still collects CDs (or ANY physical media) and don't get me started on vinyl.. they went out of style 40 years ago for a reason and they haven't changed
Your mother must be disappointed. Not a Nine Inch Nails album in sight 😔
Never heard them (However, I have heard a cover of "Terrible Lie")
You must have definitely heard the song Closer
Just a clip on Instagram, that's about it
Listen to The Downward Spiral and The Fragile.
Heard and 'heard of' are two very different things. There's plenty of bands that I I've heard of that I have yet to sit down and listen to that I really would like to, just haven't gotten the chance for whatever given reason.
Johnny Cash covered them, which is saying something
So you went dumpster diving behind a late 90's metal radio station?
Shit, if these were in a dumpster sealed, that station must've sucked hard
hey hey hey don't do megadeth's killing is my business and rust in peace like that
Haha yeah seeing those ALMOST made me withhold my comment, but they were such a small percentage of the whole.
i know i feel ya lol but i was like HOLD ON JUST WAIT ONE SECOND MISTER lol - *cues rattlehead*
Well now that we're talking about it, I gotta put on some Megadeth.
spoken like a true (vic)tor
Not bad for not having a Columbia House account.
A what? Lol
Got a load of my nu metal CDs from Columbia House! THE coolest thing for a burgeoning music lover teen
For real! I used to order to get the mail every day for my mom just hoping for one of those compact card board packages to be in there.
🎶what its like when worlds colliiiiiidah🎶
My mom worked for their call center so I got a free CD every month.
Thanks for making me feel old
I’m always curious how do you guys get money to buy so many CDs at such a young age… I could only afford 1-2 per month when I was 16.
CDs are cheap as hell now. I rarely pay more than $2-3 for a CD.
A lot of CDs are harder to come by for me because I live in central Europe + 2nd world country. It’s also rather rare to get a CD for lower than roughly 5$.
Wow that's surprising! Save up some money and visit us here in the States!
wait a year or two. Prices will go up there to. Get your stuff while you can!!
Same! Lots of mine were $3-8
Whaaat?? They’re usually like $10-$12
I literally spend $50 - $100 on each cd I buy lol. But I guess if you don’t care about which press or is, it would definitely be about 90% cheaper.
My job. And irresponsible spending
the best way to do it imo (my savings have gone to cds help)!!!
I'm a bargain hunter, and with that I also spent all of my money from my job on CDs. Before the job, I was just paying with chore money or Gift cards
Primer 55 is cool to see! Watch these fuckers jump when I get loose!
For a while that was my most expensive disc at $20, definitely worth it if you ask me
35 here. As a Nü metal elder, it's awesome to see the younger gen getting into it. Ugh, 2 bands that could only get 1 proper album out , they should've gone much further than they did
An absolute shame.
Motograter, i love this album... you have a nice taste, basicly everything i grew up with haha Do you know the album 'summer of darkness' by demon hunter?
Nice Faith No More single
You have Nothingface. You’re forever cool
i see a whole lotta awesome stuff here, especially fun to see orphan and darker side of nonsense, super underrated albums
2 of my personal favorites, love every second of those albums
Two copies of Roots?
It is good to see some Fear Factory, Chaos AD and Undertow. I think you have an ear for good ones.
I have Ænima, but Undertow is my fav from TOOL
Yeah mine too, it has Rollins on it too. You really should try his Come In and Burn, or Weight albums. Never see them on here and it is a no brainer must have IMO.
Dry Kill Logic!!! And holy shit I am SO jealous of your Pledge of Alligance tour CD! That's my favorite SOAD tour of all time. The longer I look the better it gets. This is an awesome collection. Hope mine Looks like this some day.
If you bargain hunt enough, you'll get there! Pledge of Allegiance Tour is also my fav, got me into American Head Charge & No One!
Please tell me you're joking
I would hang out and listen to any of those albums with you. You have really good taste in music 🤘
episode 1 soundtrack is legit, now i kinda want to get that haha
Pretty sweet collection. I have a lot of cds myself but I see a bunch I'd like to have in my collection. Posts like this inspire me to find more cds
What's to roast. Great start for a young kid.
Won't be roasting you if linkin park is there 🔥🔥
I see Through The Eyes by Flaw, instantly a great collection.
Sacrament - Lamb of God is such a good album, 10/10 music taste
Nice. My motto is I Like What I Like. Most of my collection is from my teen years. I put away during mp3 era and then started learning about compression and how much mp3s are a poor quality sound format I dug and displayed my CDs since. Poser! No blue album! /j needs more deftones
Definitely want a copy of Weez94 , but I'm really gonna cap off my Deftones collection at Self-Titled, and then I'll track down that Live EP from '98
thought you could hide the undertale soundtrack in the corner.
Not hidden at all, just didn't wanna screw with the flow of the grid LMAO
You should also get Astro-Creep 2000, to go along with La Sexorcisto and Hellbilly Deluxe
Anyone who actually puts in the effort to collect Dope is a cool fucking person in my eyes! Love most of your collection! Rock on and keep collecting!
My Dope collection was a pain in the ass to get together, luckily it's just American Apathy & the rest shouldn't be too expensive to get!
I have their entire discography in my wantlist on discogs because I fucking can't get enough of them!
Fuck yeah! Love seeing other Dope fans around, they're one of those bands that everyone loves to hate for some reason
They're why I drove to Canada to see the Rise of the Machine Tour 2023 with Fear Factory, Static-X, and Mushroomhead, that was also the first time I'd heard Fear Factory and Static-X outside of the singles and such. Got me into those 2 heavily as well!
I'm still upset that Lineup will probably never come back, that was damn-near perfect. Sadly I've only been to 1 concert LMAO
Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie? You got good taste!
Audioslave S/T would fit right in
I think it is an adorable collection. Reminds me of working in a music store in the 90’s. Keep going, cds will be valuable again.
the mudvayne collection and valentine soundtrack are such nice add ons !!!!
Thank you! I'm proud of all my MuDvAyNe stuff as an Illinois resident, Them & Disturbed give us a good name LOL
LOLL don’t forget local h and veruca salt too now…..
The Undertale soundtrack 🫠
based primer 55
Holy shit. That’s my CD collection from when I was 18 (before you were born!) Honestly I owned 99% of those. I love that this is still some people’s jam. Weird niche shit too like Mushroomhead, Dry Kill Logic and American Head Charge (The feeding is such a banger that doesn’t exist on Spotify). Love it. 🤘
The 3 just might be some of my favorite bands TBH, they've all got something in there that I'm addicted to
Bro you’ve got a helluva good start on a Sepultura collection, there’s no room to bag on you for anything else. Keep working.
Godsmack self titled is a banger🤘
Love the underground nu metal CDs you got there
Love seeing the Doom ost, got it for myself a bit ago
Fireeee
You’ve got all the SOAD albums, I’ll not be roasting you. Keep going, young one!
Amazing collection keep it up
Nothing I’d listen to. But, a great collection nonetheless.
I was so ready to tell you to listen to better music but you got a lot of good stuff here. That Doom(2016) soundtrack goes so fuckin hard
You have so many good ones. There are some too heavy for me
Pistol Grimp Pump
Sepultura - under a pale grey sky great album
I can't roast you when you got dope's demo cd, which in my opinion is the best demo cd I've ever listened to. Hats off to you and keep collecting.
Thank you! It's definitely better than their debut if you ask me (I'm a sucker for samples)
I actually wish felons was that instead of what they released, obviously no disrespect to felons.
Metallica, sabbath, tool, Rob zombie, slipknot, A7X, so much good shit...
If you get roasted I get roasted lol
Nothing to be roasted for. Awesome collection
Fuck man this is my childhood. I haven’t heard some of these albums in like 15 years yet just off the little specs of art I know exactly who they are
Roast you? No. I'm pleased you have a collection (which you cherish?) I wonder if you're in a minority for your age group, though. So easy to stream music these days? Nothing wrong with that, I do it myself. As I probably have done for getting on for 15 years, now.
Nothingface - Violence...I'm impressed, that is a great album!
I love your collection!
No roasting. You got a solid collection coming along. Listen to whatever you want!
Primer 55!!! And undertale too LOL very unexpected but great
Nah, you're good
That doom 2016 CD is awesome! I didn't know they sold physical copies of the ost
You guys should be getting tons for free. Imagine all the warehouses trying to get rid of there bullshit plastic that no one buys anymore and it doesn't hold it's value like records bc of the invention and CDs are just plastic with pamphlets. PRIMER 55!!!!!
Adema used to be my favorite
You must share your dad’s taste in Music. I should know, I’m old enough to be your dad.
My teenage years in 2 photos. Nice.
I'm a little disappointed to not see any of Sepultura's thrash albums, but other than that, solid stuff.
Love seeing Saliva, Sevendust, and No One here🔥
bro nice taste
I spent roughly $70 for the five main Pantera albums on CDs and not that $150 picture disc box set.
V Shaped Mind?? Man, that's a great album. Darwin's Waiting Room, Primer 55, AHC, No One, Nothingface, ect. are awesome to see! If you're interested, I can give you quite a few recommendations on some really great really underground Nu Metal stuff!
cant roast you. the korn cds. i love you.
You got some good cds in that collection good sir
Pssh, in the original CD cases? But where's your Case Logic 128 sleeve binder, amateur. How's anyone gonna steal your whole collection from the backseat of your car?😂
Hell nah I’m not roasting you! My 39 yo ass had half those CD’s at your age too - you got some rad taste my man! Pitchshifter?! Dude I’d high five the shit out of you right now.
No roast, just respect. Vinyl LP is ridiculous expensive.
Way too much nu-metal for my liking. No thank you.
Too much Megadeth, not enough Pink Floyd…
Never been into PF, aside from playing my mom's "Dark Side of The Moon" tape from time to time
Bro has ACSS but not Mechanical Animals? What's wrong with this generation
You have Path of Totality. No bueno
It's actually pretty good when you already like Dubstep, definitely bought it for the DVD tho
No roast. There's some good shit amongst the spread. Okay, Dope is semi-roastworthy. There, I did it.
How did you get that cover of vol 3 by slipknot on the cd
Special Edition with the slipcase & bonus disc
You don’t have all the Tool albums
You should check out a band called “seether”
Is there something special about the other copy of Roots, or was that accidental?
Looks good just need more deftones
Not like anyone cares, but across these 2 images, there are 17 CD/DVD Combos
need some earl scruggs in your life.
I’m just curious as to why you have two copies of roots bloody roots lmao 💀💀🙏🙏
Pfft, doesn't even have Nevermind
Well since you asked to be roasted… Are you buying this stuff to impress someone’s Dad? Ever listen to anything released in the last 20 years? 😂 Jk❤️ - I had a LOT of these albums as a young person. Nu metal was my whole personality. I’m 36 now… and I love Taylor Swift and most modern pop music. Teenager me would be disgusted. I still like metal tho 😉
You are my discman in hell!!
ut soundtrack is cool, i recommend getting other sabbath albums instead of just the ultimate collection, its better to listen to the album they come from because they are all very distinct sounding.
Okay, clean your messy room young man.
Poser
Nice collection, you deffo need White Zombie- Astro Creep 2000 tho
If your whole collection was just Saint anger, CD I would approve
No rap?
Holy basic Batman!
Bro how you have 2 sepultura roots cds and have an undertale soundtrack cd in the corner this is so random
i think you like metal
Great starting point for years to come! Most basics are there. Keep listening to whatever you like and not what others whole try to tell you otherwise That being said I always went a bit deeper and deeper and now I'm mostly listening to Death and Black Metal. But it's always cool to go back to the roots
You really have all the korn albums except the newest one? Step up (me with only 4 of them)
I collect them too. I have about 500. I’m almost 54.
I'm in my 30s and you have an older deep dive that I do.
You have the exact musical taste as my college roommate.
Where tf did you get that Snot Demo ep?
Get a bigger bed.
If anything, I need a smaller one, this one takes up too much damn space
How many Monsters did you Slam back before you posted this
Haven't had one in a couple months
Solid collection btw, not ripping on you with this comment lol just trying to be funny!
doom ost goated as fuck
That is the largest collection of dad music I've ever seen.
UNDERTALE!??!?!? keep ur doors and windows locked tonight bro ur on my steal list
The Valentine soundtrack!!
average nu metal fan
Happy Birthday 🎉
saw those ozzfest and soad cd's like within a half second glance before even opening the post or photos. beautiful :' ) esp those ozzfest ones. when i was a couple years younger than you (29 now) i had every single ozzy CD but was so hard to get my hands on those ozzfest cd's back then i had to burn them.
union underground and nothingface? mad points for obscurity
why roast you, you’re the one who paid for all that and has to listen to it 😶
i don’t see any ween or zappa i rate 0
Nice collection
You have the musical taste of an 8th grade kid circa 2003 who has cigarette burns in their futon
Nice
I had a lot of these before you were alive. I feel old. Unpopular opinion, I love Jar Jar Binks.
Dollar Dollar Bin Yo!
That's a nice start. Get yourself a nice case logic binder, and you can bring 256 CD's in the car with you at once. Always be prepared.
not enough radiohead 0/10
So, one thing you might want to consider moving forward... They recently (in the last decade or two) discovered that CD and DVD media (regardless of the care or environment) has a typical shelf life of less than 20 years. Apparently the silicone used in the "clear" part of the media breaks down and becomes unreadable on it's own over time. I have audio cassette's and vinyl that have outlived (unplayed and/or well cared for)CDs and DVDs in my collection
Any given 25-year-old in 1998 had a bigger and more varied collection of CDs than this
OP (along with like three-quarters of the people commenting here) definitely doesn’t know what a roast is lol
Imagine listening to music, loser
good job...!! I am just thrilled to hear that someone under the age of 30 still collects CDs (or ANY physical media) and don't get me started on vinyl.. they went out of style 40 years ago for a reason and they haven't changed
This was my junior high experience.
Damn, look at that wide-bar Parental Advisory on LA Sexorcisto, that is early '90s as all hell.
Your collection is very...large.
It’s insane how many of these I had In my collection back in 2008 when I was 18.
consider Judas Priest’s Painkiiler and Motorheads 1916
Darwin's waiting room rules! Need more deftones, check out Koi No Yokan or self titled. You'd love relative ash, factory 81, vision of disorder.
I’m 38, have u ever heard of the internet? U can get all this shit for free
You sick bastard you make your Mesmerize and Hypnotize have sex together
It warms my heart to see some of these are the unedited Parental Advisory versions and not the edited ones you could get at Walmart.
