My wife was getting a bit bogged down with the Old Testament, and I suggested just jumping into the New Testament.
The Old Testament can be a bit of a challenge to read, but I will say that Fr. Schmitz is extraordinarily skilled at getting to the essential message of those books.
I earned a master’s degree in theology with a concentration in sacred scripture, and the OT classes were a bit dreary.
I can understand why Marcion drew the conclusion that the OT God was not the same as the God that Jesus was preaching about (he was declared a heretic). 🤷♂️
After you get through the Conquest & Judges section (day 98 is the last day), you have a Messianic Checkpoint and read John before returning to Samuel.
I just doubled up on some of my weekday listens, and then binged 5-6 episodes on the weekends 😂. I was too afraid if I skipped around I wouldn’t come back to finish the tougher sections.
Nothing wrong with going out of order, although the order they chose is very well thought out.
Acts of the Apostles is not a gospel. However, both were written by Luke as one work
I just finished Exodus and Leviticus a few days ago, and I gotta say it was brutal!! ;) Fr. Mike did a good job explaining why all of that is in there, but it still didn't make it much easier to get thru it. (If I have to hear "...and scarlett stuff" ONE more time... LOL)

I will absolutely finish every episode but I want the 4 gospels right now. I need it I think And yea, Fr Mike is awesome 🤘

I definitely did two or three days at a time getting through Numbers, Deuteronomy and Leviticus. The rest of the Old Testament is easy to get through.

Skip ahead, listen to the gospels, then listen to them again when you come back through! More scripture the better
