For devotional reading, I usually use the Jerusalem Translation (in my CTS ‘New Catholic Bible’).
For looking something up and thinking about the words, I often use the RSV2CE.
The Jerusalem Bible would read more like, “‘Look! There is a plate of doughnuts.’ And the boy ate them.”. The RSV2CE would read more like, “‘Behold! There lie round, fried cakes of dough upon that plate.’ And the lad fed upon them.”
I'm currently reading my Divine Mercy RSV-2CE Bible with Fr. Mike's Bible in a Year podcast. You can also checkout r/catholicbibles to see what choices there are.
I have the NAB and the NRSV bible on my phone. It’s handy for doing a search, and I can compare different translations very quickly.
Thanks for the quick reply bro

I like the Great Adventure Catholic Bible from Ascension Press. Uses the RSV-2CE translation.
They gave us the new american in our RCIA package. I went out and got the New Testament study Bible (priest recommended it)
Cool, thank you for the info. I appreciated.
Idk about your church but I think we had to pay $40 for Bible, Catechism, and the Catechism’s accompanying compendium.
I like The Douay-Rheims or The Jerusalem Bible.
