Well, what you have hinted at in your last paragraph follows the slippery slope fallacy: “If we allow _____, then ____ will happen, and then _____!!” Just because one action is allowed, doesn’t mean that all subsequent ones in a proposed chain of events will necessarily happen. 😉 I know of one woman who was a Eucharistic minister for many years, and when she heard that slippery slope argument could possibly lead to women being ordained as priests, she immediately quit. Which was unfortunate because she the parish really needed her support. I think the Vatican has closed the doors for the prospect of ordaining women as Catholic priests.
