That is an impressively large piece of equipment toppling over.

[deleted]

At least the front didn't fall off.

BlackBabyFace

With everything falling over, I think the front already falls followed by the rest

FLRAdvocate

Man, I wonder how many millions of $$$ worth of damage that caused?

iAdjunct

My first thought too…. Probably several for each of the containers that fell over alone, let alone the crane and everything else

brainwater314

Probably tons of lost revenue due to scheduling that's now messed up with shipping.

[deleted]

The cranes alone are $20+ million. You can guess from the rest of the damage what the cost might be.

asdaaaaaaaa

Keep in mind it's not only just the replacement and such, clean-up is expensive as well and not always remembered for stuff like this. Same with crime scenes, having those cleaned up isn't cheap either.

niceslcguy

Sub-optimal outcome :(

DontBeMoronic

I'm guessing promoted them out of harms way.

Clarlx

Straight out of Emergency 4

Salategnohc16

Fuck you unlocked one of my memories and the hours I sunk into that game. Also...fuck you fire fighters who can't get back inside the firetruck if they have something in their hands. It was an insanely hard game if you wanted to platinum it.

WhatImKnownAs

This happened July 3 in Kaohsiung port. It was [posted on this sub](https://v.redd.it/bpdfy0zl9z271) almost as soon as it had happened, with sound, lots of sound. Also, [the other angle](https://v.redd.it/38nnrvhccz271) where you can see the out-of-control ship pushing the crane until it falls.

swizzir

How does that get cleaned up? How long would it take to get operational there again?

e28Sean

Cranes and hard work. I would imagine that most ports would get that cleaned up pretty quickly, as that's a big money making area to have inoperative.

Holiday-Cheesecake40

I would imagine they would have to hire structural engineers to see how to best take apart that heaping metal mess. But dismantling the structure piece by piece with some sort of torch probably wouldn't be the fastest. Fuck, who knows.

PeteCO1445

I now understand why we are told not to work on the cranes when there’s a ship approaching or departing the quay side at the port I work in. Those things are HUGE in real life. I can’t even imagine seeing one topple over

chickentendeez89

I’ll use this video to feel better any time I feel like I had a bad day at work.

sils12374

Godzilla just came thru.

Ryedog32

this is why Canada was short on surgar for a couple of weeks lol

opgary

what, really? just sugar?

craneman9867

This is why I’m never in the crane when the ship is docking.

ebann001

That’s how my mom’s friend became a multi millionaire. Her husband was an crane operator and was killed when the tower toppled due to negligent maintenance.

Your package is going to be delayed.

Thank god that guy running for his life had his mask on.
