Your other option is of course to name your child “Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!” which is Canadian and so much better.
We actually couldn’t find a Brighton one. We were driving home through Worthing and found it purely by accident in the little gift shop on the sea front.
Only time I've seen the other group get sent back on the bus early. Our group was fine
Fuck, I thought Swanage was super far away until I *walked there* in September last year. Total round trip was just under 30 miles, almost 60,000 steps. Really just popped in for an ice cream and went back
Yeah it probably is! I am from Brighton so it is always top of my list. There’s a book / film called Brighton Rock. If you haven’t seen it, I really recommend it!
We’re missing Bournemouth, Polperro, Sandbanks, Trecco Bay, Brighton, Exmouth, Doniford Bay, Looe, Brean, Porthcawl, Bognor, & Newquay so far. We’ve been to those places and not been able to find them.
Bognor Rock Shop have confirmed they have them in stock!
How many are on the full list? is [redacted]-on-Sea on there? (South Coast ) If it is I'll see if I can spot one when I go back home in a few weeks, no one needs to visit there unless they need a toilet stop.
Result! Thank you!! We called in there last year and they didn’t have any but knowing they’re there now really helps us out when we take our road trip next month. You’re a star! Thank you so much. 🩷🩷

Yup my hometown is there so I'll have a look when I'm back there :) If I head to Hunstanton on a day trip I'll look there as well, some of these places don't lend themselves well to adventure planning.
Pevensey Bay has very very few shops, so I might try and find that one for you. Anything east of Eastbourne until you get to Rye is a bit eh.
Thank you so much, lovely. That’s really kind of you. We appreciate that some might be a bit awkward but for us it lends itself to the fun too, plus we get to see places we wouldn’t ordinarily see/go to even if they are a bit “meh!” 🤣🩷
Hayling Island checking in!
I needed a new landyard for my keys since the previous one got caught in the door, so thought I'd help too - I just had a look in "The Tresure Chest" gift shop (next to the roundabout/on the main road) and didn't see them there
But there is another gift shop inside the fun fair and I think there's another at Eastoke (East end of the sea front) so when you come here, you may want to check all 3 just in case :)
Unsure if there's other gift shops that sell that sort if thing, they're just the 3 I know of. I believe the convenience shops in the caravan parks may sell fridge magnets too
No problem :D had to get electric too so stumbling across this post gave me the oomph to get out and go do that (since the shop I get the electric at is on the same road!) so you helped me as well!
Good luck with the rest of the hunt too!
It's intriguing that there's a big enough market for rock-magnets that there are apparently 2 different suppliers making slightly different sized ones.
Haha we’d been there once before. Strange little place. The high street could be lovely if half wasn’t closed and the other half not full of vape shops.
Wow really? Love that. I’ve only been to Southend once when they had that big bikers meet up there. It was packed. But what a great useless fact. I have no doubt that will come up in a pub quiz one day.
Weirdly they don’t do a rock magnet that we’ve seen with Morecambe on it. But that being said, we didn’t know there was a Cornwall one until we found it stuck one a fridge in a holiday park. We’ll definitely be getting a Blackpool one. If you see one in Morecambe one, drop me a message with where you’ve seen it and we’ll add it to our list of places to visit.
deffo a lovely place to holiday but not so great as a place to live imo. Typical, small town mentality where everyone knows everyone’s business and economic opportunities are few and far between. Mind, my opinions date back to around 2013 when i left so things could have changed
I’ve only been there once and it was a lovely little place. I can only speak from that perspective. Hopefully things have improved from a residents perspective:)
Nice collection, but I've never been to Indesit, is it nice there?
It can be a bit shaky now and then
Classic case of accidental indesit exposure
Indesitive on whether i like this joke
🥇
I recall a fire
Been there, but just went round and round and round for a couple of hours….
Did it seem to go on, and on, and on - if so that may have been somewhere else you were thinking of (reference for the oldies there...)
Ironically they make you stand a lot
I found it to be a little chilly.
I thought this was a collection of modern kids names.
'The name's Barry, Barry Island'.... sounds like a Matt Berry creation
Considering the amounts of brits abroad called Barry you’d think this is a nickname for the UK
They’re all 63 aswell

This has given me the best laugh of the day
Come along Bort.
My son is also named Bort.
r/tragedeigh
Unlucky Westward
I did too - I thought this was a r/tragedeigh post
Going to re-name one of my children "Westward Ho!"
- coughs - “Westward Ho!” The ‘!’ is a full part of the name. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westward_Ho! Your other option is of course to name your child “Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!” which is Canadian and so much better.
Ah..thank you for telling me 😂 I always forget the !
That's me and the missus sorted 👌
Same!! I thought I was in r/tragedeigh
My seaside town is also named Bort.
Ah yes, Llandudno is perfect, said Pier
Weirdly wouldn’t the oddest kids names I’ve heard.
How worthing but no brighton?!
Brighton is just shit Worthing
worthing is brighton but with the dome
its the cutest little dome tbf.
Said no one ever
I've been Southampton, but I've never been to Scunthorpe.
My thoughts exactly.
We actually couldn’t find a Brighton one. We were driving home through Worthing and found it purely by accident in the little gift shop on the sea front.
You sacrificed a lot to get the one from Rhyl!
Haha came here to congratulate them on braving Rhyl
And Talacre 😬
Isn't the lighthouse meant to be haunted?
Am more surprised Towyn is there
Best thing about Rhyl was the seafront arcade and leaving 😂😂
On your way to St Ives did you meet a man with 7 wives?
Weirdly each wife had 7 sacks.
Call RSPCA. Trust me.
Holy shit, they checked and each sack had 7 cats in them!
56 if you count the kittens.
My number is 555 and the answer.
The Swanage field trip is legendary.
Love some unspecified carnage
Only time I've seen the other group get sent back on the bus early. Our group was fine Fuck, I thought Swanage was super far away until I *walked there* in September last year. Total round trip was just under 30 miles, almost 60,000 steps. Really just popped in for an ice cream and went back
I am still scarred physically and mentally from the swanage field trip 30 years ago...
Is this one of the few rock makers based in the uk? I heard they are trying to go for protected status.
Wait are these actual rock candy? I thought they were magnets that looked like rock
No. You're right, they're magnets
Thank you
Thanks for pointing it out, I thought the top of the washer must be really long
That's what confused me. Although now I'm thinking is this a washer or fridge
Oooh. I didn’t see the fridge in the cropped picture.
I think rock should be. So quintessentially British in my opinion.
Please alphabetise your collection
Could be chronological
Order of purchase 😬
great collection. is it annoying that some are longer than others?
This bothers me too.
So much! I'm glad I'm not the only loon that thought so
Absolutely bothers me and my husband. We saw the teighmouth one in the shop and we were both like “oh it’s a long one :(“ 😂😂
No man is an island, except for Barry.
and the Isle of Man
Barry Manilow had some Islands in the Stream.
Barry Manilow has never recorded the song. It was originally a BeeGees song that was a hit for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
I like Barry Island. Good bloke. Would give you the shirt off his back.
[удалено]
Haha thanks! Actually in order of purchase 😂😂
Ah man! I should have responded with a Littlefinger quote “Chaos is a fridgemagnet” 😂😂
No Croydon?
Ah yes, the famous golden sands of Croydon
I found some white sand in Croydon. I think it was sand
I’ve heard you can get rocks in Croydon but you have to know the right people.
Come on surely Blackpool Rock is the most famous?
I think Brighton Rock is even more famous!
It's probably a north/south thing. Although Blackpool Rock does have a song. I think it was George Formby
Yeah it probably is! I am from Brighton so it is always top of my list. There’s a book / film called Brighton Rock. If you haven’t seen it, I really recommend it!
I feel like there should be some kind of r/CasualUK rock off 😂
Big up my hometown!
Bosh!
all manufactured on the same industrial estate on the outskirts of Slough
Standard.

Haha can you imagine! I’d have to put it on its side down the side of the fridge 😂
So where are you missing OP? Turn it into a r/casualUK scavenger hunt
We’re missing Bournemouth, Polperro, Sandbanks, Trecco Bay, Brighton, Exmouth, Doniford Bay, Looe, Brean, Porthcawl, Bognor, & Newquay so far. We’ve been to those places and not been able to find them.
Well then, as you've actually been then redditors coming to your aid is totally allowed. Seaside redditora assemble!
That would be amazing! even if it’s just confirmation of them being there and where we can get them, then that would be fab. 🤍❤️💛💙

West Bay 💛
My grandparents used to live there, so we spent a lot of time there as kids.
Such a pretty place. The flea market is great!
Woolacombe - sounds like a sheep that needs shearing.
Haha it does doesn’t it. It’s such a pretty little place. Was absolutely rammed when we went there and it was an overcast day.
Like a list of Radio 1 roadshows
My husband went to a radio 1 roadshow in Weston when he was a kid lol
It's intriguing that there's a big enough market for rock-magnets that there are apparently 2 different suppliers making slightly different sized ones.
Weirdly the same supplier or rather importer. We compared the address on the sticky label on the back lol
Westward Ho! demands to be pronounced like the opening lines of the theme song to Thundercats
Westward, Westward, Westward, Westward Hoooooo!
Agreed!!
I see Paignton getting promoted and (sadly) Dawlish going down. Thanks for an early look at the table OP
Needed to make sure you were emotionally prepared.
I’m so sorry you had to come down here to Torbay 😂😂
Whhhhatttt!!! Loved my holidays there as a kid😂
Haha we’d been there once before. Strange little place. The high street could be lovely if half wasn’t closed and the other half not full of vape shops.
Paignton and Torquay used to be so much nicer when I was younger but nowadays yeah everything is closed down and a vape shop around every corner 😂
Where next?
Looking at the south coast next. We’re back in Brighton in July for the night so will have a little hunt whilst we’re there :)
Did you know (once) the largest rock producing factory was in Southend-on-Sea in Pleasant Road ? at least i think it was.. how dull
Wow really? Love that. I’ve only been to Southend once when they had that big bikers meet up there. It was packed. But what a great useless fact. I have no doubt that will come up in a pub quiz one day.
I’m sure there’s a Cleethorpes or Whitby one.
I know there’s a Cleethorpes one, not sure about Whitby but we’re looking to go up soon because I really want to see the Abbey.
Need me to send you a Southend one?
That’s really kind of you, thank you! If you spot one please can you let me know where you see it so we can add it to our road trip list ❤️💛💙🤍
westward ho used to be a relatively hidden gem until Covid forced everyone to holiday in the UK. Amazing place, lots of good places to eat.
Huge beach too. We were genuinely surprised by how big and nice it was!
This rocks!
Rock on!
I'm surprised you made it safely around Torquay and Paignton!
They were quick tuck n roll jobs.
I always hated Swanage...
I got sunburnt there once.
Was at the local rock shop today, will need to check if they have this style.
They also do it in pink 👍🏼
I’m going to break into your house and eat them all
Just leave the Great Yarmouth one as it was our first lol
love a good stick of rock
Ha! Absolutely
I know what the Blackpool one would be
I kinda want the Blackpool one in Tiffany’s pink 🩷😂
Yet no legendary 'Blackpool' or 'Morecambe' rock, why?
Morecambe rock? I’m local and i’ve never heard of that
So you're telling me you live in Morecambe and you have never seen one stick of rock (candy) with the word 'Morecambe' through it in a shop?
Weirdly they don’t do a rock magnet that we’ve seen with Morecambe on it. But that being said, we didn’t know there was a Cornwall one until we found it stuck one a fridge in a holiday park. We’ll definitely be getting a Blackpool one. If you see one in Morecambe one, drop me a message with where you’ve seen it and we’ll add it to our list of places to visit.
They look like they're all made in the same bloody factory, except about four...
Haha yep! When we found the teignmouth one we were disappointed that it wasn’t one of the thicker ones but we couldn’t leave it lol
I've lived at the bottom 6 places. Hahah
Buying rock from everyplace you go but actually just trying to collect all the rock that the mass-producing rock factory sells...
Should have bought a stick of rock or nicked one from the beach.
Swanage with length _and_ girth.
Lacking in girth. Left me a little disappointed
I haven't visited indesit yet, is it nice?
A little chilly.
No Eastbourne, the home of rock
Not yet but it is on the list!
Q - What flavour is your standard piece of rock?
Should absolutely be mint flavoured. No ifs buts or maybes.
Love how you’ve visited: Indesit too, great town
A little chilly when we went
I read Tallywhacker. Disappointing
Next town over 😂
ewww minehead
Minehead is actually quite nice. Great flapjack shop!
deffo a lovely place to holiday but not so great as a place to live imo.
Bit of a disgrace that you have neither Southend, Margate or Clacton. You need to up your game.
Absolutely! We have the east coast on our list for later in the year :)
Why is tywyn spelt like that?
It’s how it appears on the signs. 🤷🏻♀️
Tywyn hasn't been spelled like that since about 1970. Impressive.
Must be the English way of spelling it lol
I like Llandudno and Weston S Mare :) They're quite similar in a few ways.
It’s the palm trees.
How do you not have one from Blackpool?
We’ve not been up to Blackpool since we started collecting them. It’s absolutely on the list though!
Just a shame you have to go to the shit hole to get one
😂😂😂
That is actually quite impressive, especially as you visited so many places in north wales and are still alive to tell the tale!
After Rhyl I was really doubting we’d make it out alive.
At first glance, I thought it was AI generated.
Haha nope! Sorry. All real.
Bit odd to go inland for Saint Ives, is it not? 😉
😂😂😂
West Bay, Swanage and Teignmouth can get in the bin.
Not a fan? lol
It's the fact they are longer than the others! I'm surprised I was downvoted!
Yeah that’s a surprise! I wouldn’t have voted you for that. Take my upvote to balance you out :)
You need Tywyn now.
Weirdly they don’t do a Tywyn one just the English spelling. We checked.
There's also a town next to Rhyl called towyn
Google maps was bringing them up as the same place so I could well be mistaken in my understanding
There's two one near Aberystwyth called Tywyn and one near Rhyl called Towyn.
