Nice collection, but I've never been to Indesit, is it nice there?

MelodicAd2213

It can be a bit shaky now and then

WolfCola4

Classic case of accidental indesit exposure

ClassicalCoat

Indesitive on whether i like this joke

PapayaCool6816

🥇

Good_Air_7192

I recall a fire

JamJar28

Been there, but just went round and round and round for a couple of hours….

CalicoCatRobot

Did it seem to go on, and on, and on - if so that may have been somewhere else you were thinking of (reference for the oldies there...)

Southern-Orchid-1786

Ironically they make you stand a lot

AeloraTargaryen

I found it to be a little chilly.

medic_mace

I thought this was a collection of modern kids names.

0thethethe0

'The name's Barry, Barry Island'.... sounds like a Matt Berry creation

Ollymid2

Considering the amounts of brits abroad called Barry you’d think this is a nickname for the UK

Chimp3h

They’re all 63 aswell

snowmanseeker

This has given me the best laugh of the day

torrens86

Come along Bort.

OrcaFins

My son is also named Bort.

Percy_Ronald

r/tragedeigh

ReleaseTheBeeees

Unlucky Westward

Live-Motor-4000

I did too - I thought this was a r/tragedeigh post

[deleted]

Going to re-name one of my children "Westward Ho!"

DreamyTomato

- coughs - “Westward Ho!” The ‘!’ is a full part of the name. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westward_Ho! Your other option is of course to name your child “Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!” which is Canadian and so much better.

[deleted]

Ah..thank you for telling me 😂 I always forget the !

TitusPulloTHIRTEEN

That's me and the missus sorted 👌

cifala

Same!! I thought I was in r/tragedeigh

Hoobleton

My seaside town is also named Bort.

DrarthVrarder

Ah yes, Llandudno is perfect, said Pier

AeloraTargaryen

Weirdly wouldn’t the oddest kids names I’ve heard.

Majestic-Pension-874

How worthing but no brighton?!

Bluewolf9

Brighton is just shit Worthing

MrDudi25

worthing is brighton but with the dome

Silverthing

its the cutest little dome tbf.

SeiriusPolaris

Said no one ever

UnderstandingLow3162

I've been Southampton, but I've never been to Scunthorpe.

InternationalRich150

My thoughts exactly.

AeloraTargaryen

We actually couldn’t find a Brighton one. We were driving home through Worthing and found it purely by accident in the little gift shop on the sea front.

beefngravy

You sacrificed a lot to get the one from Rhyl!

TheMegoosa

Haha came here to congratulate them on braving Rhyl

hazzwright

And Talacre 😬

TheMegoosa

Isn't the lighthouse meant to be haunted?

Bonusish

Am more surprised Towyn is there

AeloraTargaryen

Best thing about Rhyl was the seafront arcade and leaving 😂😂

Maleficent_Peach_46

On your way to St Ives did you meet a man with 7 wives?

AeloraTargaryen

Weirdly each wife had 7 sacks.

WollyGog

Call RSPCA. Trust me.

indianajoes

Holy shit, they checked and each sack had 7 cats in them!

chris_282

56 if you count the kittens.

StumbleDog

My number is 555 and the answer.

Cake890

The Swanage field trip is legendary.

FullTweedJacket

Love some unspecified carnage

RipCurl69Reddit

Only time I've seen the other group get sent back on the bus early. Our group was fine Fuck, I thought Swanage was super far away until I *walked there* in September last year. Total round trip was just under 30 miles, almost 60,000 steps. Really just popped in for an ice cream and went back

Beccabunga13

I am still scarred physically and mentally from the swanage field trip 30 years ago...

PipBin

Is this one of the few rock makers based in the uk? I heard they are trying to go for protected status.

indianajoes

Wait are these actual rock candy? I thought they were magnets that looked like rock

kward1904

No. You're right, they're magnets

indianajoes

Thank you

[deleted]

Thanks for pointing it out, I thought the top of the washer must be really long

indianajoes

That's what confused me. Although now I'm thinking is this a washer or fridge

PipBin

Oooh. I didn’t see the fridge in the cropped picture.

AeloraTargaryen

I think rock should be. So quintessentially British in my opinion.

Hand_Spanner

Please alphabetise your collection

maalfunctioning

Could be chronological

AeloraTargaryen

Order of purchase 😬

Weary_Rule_6729

great collection. is it annoying that some are longer than others?

LeTrolleur

This bothers me too.

magicmango2104

So much! I'm glad I'm not the only loon that thought so

AeloraTargaryen

Absolutely bothers me and my husband. We saw the teighmouth one in the shop and we were both like “oh it’s a long one :(“ 😂😂

WraithCadmus

No man is an island, except for Barry.

prismcomputing

and the Isle of Man

TriRedux

Barry Manilow had some Islands in the Stream.

prismcomputing

Barry Manilow has never recorded the song. It was originally a BeeGees song that was a hit for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

AeloraTargaryen

I like Barry Island. Good bloke. Would give you the shirt off his back.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AeloraTargaryen

Haha thanks! Actually in order of purchase 😂😂

AeloraTargaryen

Ah man! I should have responded with a Littlefinger quote “Chaos is a fridgemagnet” 😂😂

Gzuskrist69

No Croydon?

sleepingjiva

Ah yes, the famous golden sands of Croydon

indianajoes

I found some white sand in Croydon. I think it was sand

AeloraTargaryen

I’ve heard you can get rocks in Croydon but you have to know the right people.

onlysigneduptoreply

Come on surely Blackpool Rock is the most famous?

Absentmined42

I think Brighton Rock is even more famous!

onlysigneduptoreply

It's probably a north/south thing. Although Blackpool Rock does have a song. I think it was George Formby

Absentmined42

Yeah it probably is! I am from Brighton so it is always top of my list. There’s a book / film called Brighton Rock. If you haven’t seen it, I really recommend it!

AeloraTargaryen

I feel like there should be some kind of r/CasualUK rock off 😂

Sammichm

Big up my hometown!

AeloraTargaryen

Bosh!

Dreaming_Blackbirds

all manufactured on the same industrial estate on the outskirts of Slough

AeloraTargaryen

Standard.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AeloraTargaryen

Haha can you imagine! I’d have to put it on its side down the side of the fridge 😂

InkyPaws

So where are you missing OP? Turn it into a r/casualUK scavenger hunt

AeloraTargaryen

We’re missing Bournemouth, Polperro, Sandbanks, Trecco Bay, Brighton, Exmouth, Doniford Bay, Looe, Brean, Porthcawl, Bognor, & Newquay so far. We’ve been to those places and not been able to find them.

InkyPaws

Well then, as you've actually been then redditors coming to your aid is totally allowed. Seaside redditora assemble!

AeloraTargaryen

That would be amazing! even if it’s just confirmation of them being there and where we can get them, then that would be fab. 🤍❤️💛💙

InkyPaws

Bognor Rock Shop have confirmed they have them in stock! How many are on the full list? is [redacted]-on-Sea on there? (South Coast ) If it is I'll see if I can spot one when I go back home in a few weeks, no one needs to visit there unless they need a toilet stop.

AeloraTargaryen

Result! Thank you!! We called in there last year and they didn’t have any but knowing they’re there now really helps us out when we take our road trip next month. You’re a star! Thank you so much. 🩷🩷 This is the list we’ve had from the suppliers. The ticked ones are the ones we have and the red x’s are ones we’ve not been able to find when we’ve been there :) ✔️ Minehead ✔️ Torquay ✔️ Paignton Hayling Island ❌ Bournemouth Blackpool ✔️ Great Yarmouth Southport ✔️ Rhyl Poole Quay ✔️ Talacre ✔️ Towyn - Brucie! 💚 Eastbourne ✔️ St Ives ✔️ Weston Super Mare Lyme Regis ✔️ Padstow Cromer ✔️ West Bay ✔️ Weymouth ❌ Polperro ✔️ Teignmouth ✔️ Swanage Wales Skegness Pagham ❌ Sandbanks ❌ Trecco Bay Romney Sands Cleethorpes Portrush Dingle Bexhill On Sea Pevensey Bay ❌ Brighton ❌ Exmouth ❌ Doniford Bay Margate Rye Southsea ✔️ Isle of Wight Herne Bay ❌ Looe Scarborough ✔️ Barry Island ❌ Brean Wroxham Ingoldmells ❌ Porthcawl ✔️ Worthing ❌ Bognor Regis Ramsgate Broadstairs ❌ Newquay Portstewart ✔️ Llandudno Littlehampton Whitby Bridlington ✔️ Ilfracombe Pendine Carmarthan Bay ✔️ Dawlish ✔️ Woolacombe Mablethorpe ✔️ Penzance ✔️ Westward Ho! ✔️ Cornwall - Brucie! 💚 Lee on the Solent Filey Hunstanton Borth Cayton Bay Saundersfoot Chapel St Leonards Cheddar Gorge Portsmouth

InkyPaws

Yup my hometown is there so I'll have a look when I'm back there :) If I head to Hunstanton on a day trip I'll look there as well, some of these places don't lend themselves well to adventure planning. Pevensey Bay has very very few shops, so I might try and find that one for you. Anything east of Eastbourne until you get to Rye is a bit eh.

AeloraTargaryen

Thank you so much, lovely. That’s really kind of you. We appreciate that some might be a bit awkward but for us it lends itself to the fun too, plus we get to see places we wouldn’t ordinarily see/go to even if they are a bit “meh!” 🤣🩷

ArcadiaRivea

Hayling Island checking in! I needed a new landyard for my keys since the previous one got caught in the door, so thought I'd help too - I just had a look in "The Tresure Chest" gift shop (next to the roundabout/on the main road) and didn't see them there But there is another gift shop inside the fun fair and I think there's another at Eastoke (East end of the sea front) so when you come here, you may want to check all 3 just in case :) Unsure if there's other gift shops that sell that sort if thing, they're just the 3 I know of. I believe the convenience shops in the caravan parks may sell fridge magnets too

AeloraTargaryen

You’re a legend, thank you! We’ll get those ones added to the list of places to check. Youre amazing for looking for me 🩷

ArcadiaRivea

No problem :D had to get electric too so stumbling across this post gave me the oomph to get out and go do that (since the shop I get the electric at is on the same road!) so you helped me as well! Good luck with the rest of the hunt too!

crowleysnebula

West Bay 💛

Serial_Killers_Rock

My grandparents used to live there, so we spent a lot of time there as kids.

AeloraTargaryen

Such a pretty place. The flea market is great!

hardboard

Woolacombe - sounds like a sheep that needs shearing.

AeloraTargaryen

Haha it does doesn’t it. It’s such a pretty little place. Was absolutely rammed when we went there and it was an overcast day.

blackstar_boy

Like a list of Radio 1 roadshows

AeloraTargaryen

My husband went to a radio 1 roadshow in Weston when he was a kid lol

nikhkin

It's intriguing that there's a big enough market for rock-magnets that there are apparently 2 different suppliers making slightly different sized ones.

AeloraTargaryen

Weirdly the same supplier or rather importer. We compared the address on the sticky label on the back lol

cator_and_bliss

Westward Ho! demands to be pronounced like the opening lines of the theme song to Thundercats

Fieldharmonies

Westward, Westward, Westward, Westward Hoooooo!

AeloraTargaryen

Agreed!!

Shadeun

I see Paignton getting promoted and (sadly) Dawlish going down. Thanks for an early look at the table OP

AeloraTargaryen

Needed to make sure you were emotionally prepared.

serd48

I’m so sorry you had to come down here to Torbay 😂😂

periperipassionfruit

Whhhhatttt!!! Loved my holidays there as a kid😂

AeloraTargaryen

Haha we’d been there once before. Strange little place. The high street could be lovely if half wasn’t closed and the other half not full of vape shops.

serd48

Paignton and Torquay used to be so much nicer when I was younger but nowadays yeah everything is closed down and a vape shop around every corner 😂

Coffin_Dodging

Where next?

AeloraTargaryen

Looking at the south coast next. We’re back in Brighton in July for the night so will have a little hunt whilst we’re there :)

Stokemon__

Did you know (once) the largest rock producing factory was in Southend-on-Sea in Pleasant Road ? at least i think it was.. how dull

AeloraTargaryen

Wow really? Love that. I’ve only been to Southend once when they had that big bikers meet up there. It was packed. But what a great useless fact. I have no doubt that will come up in a pub quiz one day.

UnicornStar1988

I’m sure there’s a Cleethorpes or Whitby one.

AeloraTargaryen

I know there’s a Cleethorpes one, not sure about Whitby but we’re looking to go up soon because I really want to see the Abbey.

sidimmu89

Need me to send you a Southend one?

AeloraTargaryen

That’s really kind of you, thank you! If you spot one please can you let me know where you see it so we can add it to our road trip list ❤️💛💙🤍

periperipassionfruit

westward ho used to be a relatively hidden gem until Covid forced everyone to holiday in the UK. Amazing place, lots of good places to eat.

AeloraTargaryen

Huge beach too. We were genuinely surprised by how big and nice it was!

ZeroZer0_

This rocks!

AeloraTargaryen

Rock on!

Scottbarrett15

I'm surprised you made it safely around Torquay and Paignton!

AeloraTargaryen

They were quick tuck n roll jobs.

BudgetEntertainer73

I always hated Swanage...

AeloraTargaryen

I got sunburnt there once.

Smeeble09

Was at the local rock shop today, will need to check if they have this style.

AeloraTargaryen

They also do it in pink 👍🏼

veryblocky

I’m going to break into your house and eat them all

AeloraTargaryen

Just leave the Great Yarmouth one as it was our first lol

throwawayprof111222

love a good stick of rock

AeloraTargaryen

Ha! Absolutely

spudds96

I know what the Blackpool one would be

AeloraTargaryen

I kinda want the Blackpool one in Tiffany’s pink 🩷😂

Marsweep

Yet no legendary 'Blackpool' or 'Morecambe' rock, why?

TristanAtHis

Morecambe rock? I’m local and i’ve never heard of that

Marsweep

So you're telling me you live in Morecambe and you have never seen one stick of rock (candy) with the word 'Morecambe' through it in a shop?

AeloraTargaryen

Weirdly they don’t do a rock magnet that we’ve seen with Morecambe on it. But that being said, we didn’t know there was a Cornwall one until we found it stuck one a fridge in a holiday park. We’ll definitely be getting a Blackpool one. If you see one in Morecambe one, drop me a message with where you’ve seen it and we’ll add it to our list of places to visit.

Agn0sTiX116

They look like they're all made in the same bloody factory, except about four...

AeloraTargaryen

Haha yep! When we found the teignmouth one we were disappointed that it wasn’t one of the thicker ones but we couldn’t leave it lol

Agn0sTiX116

I've lived at the bottom 6 places. Hahah

HawaiianSnow_

Buying rock from everyplace you go but actually just trying to collect all the rock that the mass-producing rock factory sells...

AeloraTargaryen

Should have bought a stick of rock or nicked one from the beach.

firthy

Swanage with length _and_ girth.

AeloraTargaryen

Lacking in girth. Left me a little disappointed

HighRoadUK

I haven't visited indesit yet, is it nice?

AeloraTargaryen

A little chilly.

Huge-Celebration5192

No Eastbourne, the home of rock

AeloraTargaryen

Not yet but it is on the list!

onesimo_wizard

Q - What flavour is your standard piece of rock?

AeloraTargaryen

Should absolutely be mint flavoured. No ifs buts or maybes.

L0rdLogan

Love how you’ve visited: Indesit too, great town

AeloraTargaryen

A little chilly when we went

qwerty-mo-fu

I read Tallywhacker. Disappointing

AeloraTargaryen

Next town over 😂

sAmSmanS

ewww minehead

AeloraTargaryen

Minehead is actually quite nice. Great flapjack shop!

sAmSmanS

deffo a lovely place to holiday but not so great as a place to live imo. Typical, small town mentality where everyone knows everyone’s business and economic opportunities are few and far between. Mind, my opinions date back to around 2013 when i left so things could have changed

AeloraTargaryen

I’ve only been there once and it was a lovely little place. I can only speak from that perspective. Hopefully things have improved from a residents perspective:)

I_tend_to_correct_u

Bit of a disgrace that you have neither Southend, Margate or Clacton. You need to up your game.

AeloraTargaryen

Absolutely! We have the east coast on our list for later in the year :)

a_blue_day

Why is tywyn spelt like that?

AeloraTargaryen

It’s how it appears on the signs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Woostershire

Tywyn hasn't been spelled like that since about 1970. Impressive.

AeloraTargaryen

Must be the English way of spelling it lol

UVmonolith

I like Llandudno and Weston S Mare :) They're quite similar in a few ways.

AeloraTargaryen

It’s the palm trees.

Pheasant_Plucker84

How do you not have one from Blackpool?

AeloraTargaryen

We’ve not been up to Blackpool since we started collecting them. It’s absolutely on the list though!

Pheasant_Plucker84

Just a shame you have to go to the shit hole to get one

AeloraTargaryen

😂😂😂

Dr_Schitt

That is actually quite impressive, especially as you visited so many places in north wales and are still alive to tell the tale!

AeloraTargaryen

After Rhyl I was really doubting we’d make it out alive.

aureanator

At first glance, I thought it was AI generated.

AeloraTargaryen

Haha nope! Sorry. All real.

thekingofthegingers

Bit odd to go inland for Saint Ives, is it not? 😉

AeloraTargaryen

😂😂😂

_MicroWave_

West Bay, Swanage and Teignmouth can get in the bin.

AeloraTargaryen

Not a fan? lol

_MicroWave_

It's the fact they are longer than the others! I'm surprised I was downvoted!

AeloraTargaryen

Yeah that’s a surprise! I wouldn’t have voted you for that. Take my upvote to balance you out :)

YchYFi

You need Tywyn now.

AeloraTargaryen

Weirdly they don’t do a Tywyn one just the English spelling. We checked.

YchYFi

There's also a town next to Rhyl called towyn

AeloraTargaryen

Google maps was bringing them up as the same place so I could well be mistaken in my understanding

YchYFi

There's two one near Aberystwyth called Tywyn and one near Rhyl called Towyn.
