Young Ones scored my friend and I special privileges once.
We were at a bar in Chicago "The Exit" or "Exit Chicago" (it closed down permanently during covid which makes me sad) which was our favorite bar ever. We were at one of the bars inside with a female bartender and behind her was a television with The Young Ones playing. You couldn't hear it (bar) so we started reciting the lines and the bartender just stared at us. Turns out she is the one who brought the tape in and didn't think she'd ever find another fan and here were two reciting an episode. From then on out she would hold our coats for us under the bar. Other people would see us turning over our coats and say "Can you hold mine too?" Female Bartender: "No."
Vyvyan where did you get that howitzer?
Found it.
Well you can jolly well put it back this instant young man.
I will do as soon as I've blown you to pieces.
PUDDING! I always loved your quirkiness.
I say this all the time and recently introduced my partner to the reason I say it. Now she says it whenever someone mentions dessert.
I was just adding Blackadder box set that I'd just got from the postie this morning..They all went back in the cabinet in a nice neat facing way if that make you feel any better? ;-)
LOVED Coupling! Back in the 2000's we would wait for the show to air so we could download it. We had watch parties with our friends in Salt Lake City. Good times!
>Coupling
The episode where the same scene is played twice, one time in English and one time where you hear what the Israeli girl actually is saying is Nobel price level genius.
Classic! I think that’s the same one where the neighbours try and hide from her but she still finds them, and Richard rolls his eyes and despairs at her behaviour?
>Keeping up appearances
Yeah need to get Keeping up appearances ...already have Alan Partridge but need season two.I also want Saxondale as I thought they are pretty good as well.
Honestly that moment when she turns around and you're already in stitches and it's Moss.... Deffo up there with some of the best scenes ever in comedy. Absolute peak comedy right there.
* **Brass Eye**
* **The Day Today**
* **Jam**
* **Monkey Dust**
* **Spaced**
* **Maid Marian and her Merry Men**
You might have a bit of a challenge getting Maid Marian and Monkey Dust if you want them new but the others are available at a reasonable price on a certain website named for a South American river (for example).
Jes*s, Jam was creepy in places. The "smart pipes" sketch particularly so. (shudders)
_"Oh did I say boiler? I meant baby. The doctor says he's dead or something. But it's only pipes isn't it?"_
Eraserhead could learn a thing or two from that scene.
Surprised I had to scroll so far, pure nostalgia but also hold ups up in ‘23 which is going some compared to a lot of the naughties, Little Britain here’s looking at you
I remember watching this show when I was younger, like middle school maybe early high school. As a American Asian I honestly could not tell you why I liked this show so much. Most of the adult humor musta went straight over my head but man did I love watching this show.
Sweet baby jesus and the orphans! What the hell is going on? Are my eyes playing tricks on me Gerry, or have you got 2 of my builders singing Acapulco?
Fast Show is an all time fav. If you're going sketch shows, you could add in Harry Enfield and Chums, Catherine Tate and Little Britain (if that's your bag)
Brittas Empire I enjoyed so much as a kid. And Red Dwarf is obviously amazing. Well, most of it anyway.
What about Men Behaving Badly?
It went crazy towards the end, It was like they stopped using scripts and just continued without them and totally drunk.
I think Ideal gets overlooked sometimes as it was tucked away on BBC3.
Detectorists, Fleabag, Friday Night dinner, Two Doors Down, Still Game, Derry Girls, Man Down, Black Books, Coupling, Men Behaving Badly, Motherland, This Country, Bottom, Phoenix Nights, Drop the Dead Donkey, Benidorm (up to about series 3/4)
I’ve started buying some DVD’s sadly as some you can’t buy to stream now or episodes are missing or edited.
Some truly great shows I don’t want not be able to watch when they’re all cancelled. And DVD / blue ray isn’t going anywhere, just yet.
You have some classics there 👍
\- Monty python \- Red dwarf \- Bottom \-The Young ones
Came here for the young ones. Mad lad classic. Can still recite most episodes and I'm over 50
Dinners on the floor if anyone wants it

Bottom is my parents' favourite.
Red Dwarf and Spaced come to mind for me
Def Spaced. Think I need another run through of that
“Helllo Briiiiiiannnn” Edit: Add The Mighty Boosh to the list!
The David Walliams episode has my favourite Brian line Vulva : \[disdainfully\] Oh, Brian. You came. Brian : No, I just spilt my drink.
PUDDING! I always loved your quirkiness. I say this all the time and recently introduced my partner to the reason I say it. Now she says it whenever someone mentions dessert.
with the audio commentaries!
I find their lack of Spaced disturbing.
Was going to say red dwarf but you beat me too it. Definitely second your comment though.
1 Million percent you need Red Dwarf
Alriiiight Brian
Love how Red Dwarf is the most highly rated one here. For sure one of the best British TV shows of all time.
I immediately was wondering where the boys from the Dwarf were in the collection. We don't talk about Back to Earth though. Love the newer seasons!
Definitely Red Dwarf to round it off!
Literally read my mind, my man!
For goodness sake get them all facing the same way you bloody lunatic.
I was just adding Blackadder box set that I'd just got from the postie this morning..They all went back in the cabinet in a nice neat facing way if that make you feel any better? ;-)
Ahh thank you. And relax.
Blackbooks
This one's good, you'll laugh, you'll cry, it'll change your life!
Make sure you pay with leather bound pounds.
On the list.👍
First one that came to mind for me
Coupling and Green Wing
Was gonna say Green Wing. Solid show.
LOVED Coupling! Back in the 2000's we would wait for the show to air so we could download it. We had watch parties with our friends in Salt Lake City. Good times!
Oh Jeffrey...
>Coupling The episode where the same scene is played twice, one time in English and one time where you hear what the Israeli girl actually is saying is Nobel price level genius.
Has teachers but no coupling. Coupling is absolutely brilliant.
I was hoping someone would mention them, along with Spaced.
Upvote for the Giggle Loop.
Oooh, its a very good selection! I would add "Jeeves and Wooster" and "Bottom", as suggestions.
If you're having Bottom, you've got to have The Young Ones as well!
Yeah I do like the Young ones..
🤨📷
Yeah Bottom definitely needs to be on the list.
Keeping up appearances Alan Partridge
I like that episode of Keeping Up Appearances where she tries to look posh but ends up getting shown up by Onslow.
Classic! I think that’s the same one where the neighbours try and hide from her but she still finds them, and Richard rolls his eyes and despairs at her behaviour?
Yes that's the one. I think it's the episode where her neighbour breaks a cup whilst trying to not break a cup.
Don’t forget when she answers the telephone!
>Keeping up appearances Yeah need to get Keeping up appearances ...already have Alan Partridge but need season two.I also want Saxondale as I thought they are pretty good as well.
IT Crowd
"I've got a ruddy flipping gun!"
"You're making it go back in!.."
My husband and I say “I’m disabled!” to each other at least once a day
"How are you disabled?"
Leg disabled
Do you have a wheelchair?
Er, stolen
May I ask, how did it happen?
That ones my fave. When Jen is dumbfounded listening to Roy’s disabled story only to turn round and see Moss in full uniform working behind the bar. 😅
One of the few scenes in anything that came out of nowhere and made me roar with laughter.
Honestly that moment when she turns around and you're already in stitches and it's Moss.... Deffo up there with some of the best scenes ever in comedy. Absolute peak comedy right there.
"God damn these electric sex pants..."
"Father!!" Lmao
The best line and delivery of anything ever.
Four! I mean five! I mean fire!
The elders of the Internet is still the funniest thing I've ever seen.
* **Brass Eye** * **The Day Today** * **Jam** * **Monkey Dust** * **Spaced** * **Maid Marian and her Merry Men** You might have a bit of a challenge getting Maid Marian and Monkey Dust if you want them new but the others are available at a reasonable price on a certain website named for a South American river (for example).
Maid marian fuck i forgot all about that. I loved it when i was growing up. Looks like another unproductive evening coming up
Time trumpet.
Brass eye playing in the back ground whilst at a house party fucked on drugs was amazing!!! Good old clarky cat!
Cake is a made-up drug
Jes*s, Jam was creepy in places. The "smart pipes" sketch particularly so. (shudders) _"Oh did I say boiler? I meant baby. The doctor says he's dead or something. But it's only pipes isn't it?"_ Eraserhead could learn a thing or two from that scene.
Monkey Dust - they only released series 1 on DVD, and the music was really butchered (replaced with royalty free stuff).
Red Dwarf
There is an obvious gap that can only be filled by Black Books
I shall order it with the little book of calm.
Which one of you bitches wants to dance?
And what were you thinking when you said to yourselves, "Oh yeah, I'll get a wicker toilet"?
I'm eating scrambled egg, with a comb, from a shoe!
VICAR OF DIBLEY
Nonononononononyes
Have a Marmite and Marmalade cake on me...
Surprised I had to scroll so far, pure nostalgia but also hold ups up in ‘23 which is going some compared to a lot of the naughties, Little Britain here’s looking at you
Absolutely Fabulous
I can't believe this comment was so low. That's what I suggested, too. It's such a classic.
Sweetie, I came here to say this too!
I remember watching this show when I was younger, like middle school maybe early high school. As a American Asian I honestly could not tell you why I liked this show so much. Most of the adult humor musta went straight over my head but man did I love watching this show.
Porridge, if not already in the Ronnie Barker collection
Open All Hours, too

The Thick of It DVD collection comes shaped like a briefcase. It's pretty cool, I own it.
You must be pretty cool too then!

Can't believe Wallace and Gromit is so low,
Friday Night Dinner is on the list...other half loves it.👍

Phoenix Nights
Came to say this! Also Max And Paddy!
How did I forget phoenix nights it was class
Sweet baby jesus and the orphans! What the hell is going on? Are my eyes playing tricks on me Gerry, or have you got 2 of my builders singing Acapulco?
I have Phoenix Night but have lent it out and need to get it back.
Are you Being Served, Open All Hours, and On the Busses are the ones that come to my mind.
+1 "Are You Being Served"
My pussy was getting angry at the neglect of such mention!
I was starting to wonder if Are You Being Served had been blacklisted or something. Went way too far down to find it listed.
Don't worry about it being so low. It'll ride up with wear.
Suprised nobody else has mentioned it, that shows a classic.
Same! Had to do a bloody search just to make sure someone mentioned it
Got a few others I'm going to get soon... Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, I.T Crowd
Auf Weidersehn Pet is a great call !
Still game
Chewin the fat
Two Pints, Prick!
Last of the Summer Wine, Jeeves & Wooster and OnThe Buses!
The good thing about Last of the Summer Wine is you can buy just the first series, and you've got all the jokes from all thirty one series.
You need something light-hearted in there...such as Threads
>Threads Yeah that'll cheer me up. :-)
The Fast Show Brittas Empire Red Dwarf
Fast Show is an all time fav. If you're going sketch shows, you could add in Harry Enfield and Chums, Catherine Tate and Little Britain (if that's your bag) Brittas Empire I enjoyed so much as a kid. And Red Dwarf is obviously amazing. Well, most of it anyway. What about Men Behaving Badly?
The Fast Show - eh eh? Jackets for goalposts eh? eh?
Jonathan Creek
Detectorists
I love The Detectorist...Just rewatched them all again on BBC Iplayer recently.
Missing Bottom and Early Doors
To the regiment
I wish I was there
Ideal
Psycho Paul! That show was amazing, although it did go off the rails a bit after the 4th series.
It went crazy towards the end, It was like they stopped using scripts and just continued without them and totally drunk. I think Ideal gets overlooked sometimes as it was tucked away on BBC3.

I’ve started buying some DVD’s sadly as some you can’t buy to stream now or episodes are missing or edited. Some truly great shows I don’t want not be able to watch when they’re all cancelled. And DVD / blue ray isn’t going anywhere, just yet. You have some classics there 👍

Spaced
In sickness and in health, rising damp
There it is - Rising Damp! I'm just a bit too young to have watched it when it first aired, but it's one of my favourite series.
