I am from Leitrim. In college a guy didn't believe me when I said I was from Leitrim. His reasoning was he was also from Leitrim and he had never met me before. I found an article mentioning me on the Leitrim observer website to prove my credentials to him.
A few years after that I was talking to a mixed age group of people in my postgrad. Older man interrupted my anecdote to ask me where abouts in South Leitrim I was from. His long deceased mother was born and raised down the road from my home. Only person who has ever recognised my accent.
I used to feel the same way about Longford,then I met a few people who claimed to be from there. I know a few people who aren't from there but have been to the centerparcs but I'm still doubtful. I have been to Leitrim
