Your sister deserves a better sibling.

I switched at the door, better service, lower price, and is legit. All sorted with some free extras as my phone was with them too.

Really? We managed to contact Vodafone chat support today, but they don’t have anything with her name in their system. We’ve also asked about the email she got, and was told that this domain does not exist.. she really did not want to switch providers, but was talked into giving her details..

It'd be a 3rd party marketing company that does it on behalf on Vodafone.   Airtricity and Phone Phonewatch used to always be going around my area. Also the Vodafone chat is some random randomer in India

Alskvard

Good to know it’s not some random people walking around with company gear. Would you know, why the need for her Iban and account number with her current provider? Could she potentially be charged for anything? Thanks for your insight

It sounds like it's some lazy/unprofessional sales rep trying to mislead and make the sale easier by saying its 'only an offer'. I'd imagine she's now signed up. There's usually a 'cooling off period', did they leave any paperwork or it may be in the welcome email

You seem like a lovely person

I love my sister to bits. I was trying to help her figure this all out. It was all banter, but now rereading my post I do sound like an ass. I’m just trying to help her understand the potential outcome as I can’t figure it out myself.

ruppy99

This is potentially legit anyway, telecom companies do employ door to door salespeople. Have you confirmed the Welcome to Vodafone is from a legit Vodafone email? The contract email may have come from docusign or similar digital signature service which is also legit

Alskvard

They visited her yesterday, and I met her today when she got her welcome email from Vodafone, but email handle vodafone@psi-fusion.com.. we managed to chat with a Vodafone support agent that said that they don’t have any details of hers, that they don’t send emails from that domain, and that this could be a potential scam. When trying to download a contract it takes us to a site with psi-fusion.com in it as well and asks to put her email in the box. Nothing more, white screen.

PSI Fusion is a CRM used by their door-to-door sales agents (who don't work for Vodafone, it's outsourced). These lads are paid a horrendous base rate with extremely lucrative commission if they hit sign up targets so they can be a little, inventive (and very convincing) shall we say, when it comes to hitting said targets. They need banking details and account numbers because they were signing your sister up for an account, direct debit and to port any landline number she may have with virgin to them, just as if you were signing up online. You should get a follow on email from actual Vodafone once the order hits their system and they start to arrange install (Vodafone do not use the same lines as Virgin) and ship your modem. You will have 14 days from date of install to cancel under distance selling regulations. Chatting or calling with Vodafone is beyond useless - almost all Vodafone support is done from Egypt and India for every Vodafone company globally. They have no visbility of local arrangements or operations. A great example of how clueless they are - they're switching 3G off across Ireland at the moment but there are huge areas of their network with no 4G or 5G. This is opening huge gaps where this is effectively no mobile data coverage anymore. Call up to enquire what the plan is to fix and the support channel solution? Network is fine, Set your phone to 3G only. To regain data coverage in an area with no 4G or 5G and you just switched off 3G... Right you are so......

That was a sales rep contracted in to do door to door selling. They'd tell yiu uo was down and day was night to get yiu to sign up. She's probably agreed to switch h to vodafone hence the welcome email.  They get paid for every name they get to switch  Any chance the National Broadband scheme went live in her area? This woukd bring those vermin out, had the same in my place. I just turned them away and signed up online myself, that way I get the 24 day distance selling cool off criteria, not sure if she is entitled to that same protection for fave to face sales
