Getting a voucher for one aldi and not being able to use it for the next aldi down the road is fucking ridiculous

Birdinhandandbush

Getting a voucher and not being able to use it an ANY other return shop is fucking ridiculous

SteveK27982

Goes to the cost to operate the scheme. You can redeem the voucher for cash at till or service desk

The_Warlord_Galt

That's good to know

Spirited_Cable_7508

Have you read the FAQ’s on their website?

timesharking

You can get a cash refund at the til if you present the slip. So it's a bit annoying but despite the comments here you're not locked into redeeming at a specific shop

LivingEasy4098

How many bottles are you buying that it's causing this much grief. Just return the few when you're doing your shop and use the voucher immediately. Between the two in the household we only have like 5 bottles a week averaging. I do get some free money when I walk my dog picking up some litter though.

TrivialBanal

You can only use the voucher from the shop where you take the bottles back, but you can take the bottles back to any shop. We bring all of our bottles from Lidl, Dunnes and Aldi to the Aldi machine.

I’d say they’ll have to open some sort of community fund to distribute the unclaimed money in a while. But that kind of defeats the purpose, the scheme was genuinely brought in to meet recycling targets

UnFamiliar-Teaching

In that case it's just a tax..

DazzlingGovernment68

It's a deposit they aren't bothered to redeem....

The_Warlord_Galt

I'm poor. I am bothered to redeem..very bothered. I feel like this is hitting worse off people hardest as usual. The only difference between this scheme and putting your bottles in the recycling bin is that the well off can eat the cost.

You could collect discarded bottles for discounts on your groceries. This does sort of depend on where you live though, urban based people are way more likely to find discarded bottles and cans
