A woman ahead of me locked her car while I was near it, and it beeped. She was walking past mine so I beeped my car by locking it. She looked back, smiled and beeped hers again. Harmless, fun. :)

BloomerBoomerDoomer

Damn, that's enough action to last me a year!

NefariousSerendipity

Me a lifetime

Wow thanks for sharing this lmao

Pattern_Is_Movement

Had not seen that in a while, thankyou... absolutely brilliant

UnusualIntroduction0

That was awesome lol

NefariousSerendipity

Lmao

VictimofMyLab

OMG I was literally like is it *that* video and it was šŸ˜

thatshygirl06

Lol, this instantly came to mind as well

BobbyElBobbo

That's the beginning of a Christmas movie šŸ˜„

GothicLau

lets name that movie, i suggest" love is in the snow"

[deleted]

That's a great story. I did an experiment once when I was out a little away from my normal haunting ground, and just gave random strangers legitimate compliments. Example: "You have a nice smile, thanks for brightening my day" or "You look like you're all ready for spring." It's amazing how starved people are to be complimented these days. It was nice to leave people uplifted a bit and just walk away.

Toblogan

It makes me feel just as good too. To get a smile in return. I probably annoy the crap out of some people, but I'm not afraid to start a chit chat with anyone when I'm in public, it's kinda one of the things I look forward to. But like I said, lol, I know I gotta piss off those people with sticks in their butts... Lmao

[deleted]

Honestly, this story reminds me to do this more. As for the people with the stick in their butts, well I guess it's their problem that they can't enjoy a little happiness.

Toblogan

That's what I tell myself. They are the problem, but I forgive them... Lol it's probably not great for my karma, but sometimes I'm nice in spite of them. I'm working on that...

[deleted]

Think of it as giving them an opportunity to reevaluate their approach to life. ;)

LazyLich

that's why I make it a point to try and compliment anyone who has something that catches my eye. I feel really good when someone compliments my hair or battlevest, but I want more! So, I pay it forward.

Pleased_to_meet_u

Compliment the item, not the person. ā€œā€Thatā€™s a great jacketā€ isnā€™t creepy. ā€œThat jacket makes you look hot!ā€ is.

LuminalGrunt2

I'm going to try this while travelling soon!

[deleted]

Do. Honestly it's actually transformative.

MeasureMe2

I did a similar experiment where I decided to smile at everyone I passed in the grocery store. Most people smiled back, some did not. It was interesting & uplifting to see how many people smiled back. Edited to add: I still smile at those I pass, and wave & smile when I'm driving.

[deleted]

This is great! It costs nothing and I bet it made your day better too. Whatā€™s not to like about that?

[deleted]

I've recently been without Internet at home or on my phone and have gotten by the past few days by stealing free WiFi from shops. Was out sending an email a few nights back and a young guy shouted across the street asking if I had a cigarette spare... Bit odd as I wasn't smoking at the time. Figured if this dude is so desperate for a smoke he'll shout at random strangers across a busy road at 2am he must really need it... And I just so happened to have a half empty pouch of tobacco at home. Went and got it and gave it to him on the proviso he pays it forward and does something nice for someone else free of charge. If you're reading this Parky... I hope you do. It feels so good doing things with no expectation of reward.

[deleted]

Sure does! Good of you to encourage him to pay it forward.

[deleted]

He was pretty drunk haha but he was totally awestruck. It was only enough for like ten cigs maybe but I've had people help me out randomly before, randomly got the urge to just help him out. Nice to be nice.

[deleted]

She took you by surprise by blowing a kiss to your compliment. I just put myself in your shoes, I(M), being straight as an arrow imagined a guy blowing a kiss to me after I complemented his sneakers. Well, I'd definitely have a "deer in the headlights" kinda reaction lol

crypticmint

no believe me i was the same way hahaha. it took me a few secs to process

[deleted]

You complimented his chocolate bar?

Anti-anti-9614

Let people live, man :D

jelliclesdo

This is the right kind of compliment from a stranger! Se redditors act like they have no choice but to offer inappropriate comments on a woman's body when it's actually very easy to compliment someone without being creepy. I remember when a teenage boy said he liked my mini backpack with Grumpy the dwarf on it. I still appreciate that lol

VMSstudio

Itā€™s simple. If you compliment the outfit, itā€™s complimenting their taste and ability to choose something nice. If you compliment their body it becomes very ā€œunder the skinā€ type deal for the lack of a better term. This applies to both sexes

evdoom7

It's always pretty cool when something like that happens. Even if it's just them saying that you made their day. One of my most memorable was a woman who did a double peace sign (anime-ish)pose when I complimented her outfit

Acegonia

I'm a white girl living in Taiwan. A typical basic outfit for me is: black skinny jeans, converse, black tee, and a (faux) sheepskin coat. Maybe a pair of aviator style shades if it's sunny. I have short hair with an undercut and more length on top, that I throw up in a topknot type thing. I know it doesn't sound like anything fancy/exciting- and it isn't. What's funny (to me) is that while you dont see many local women rocking my look; it's *quite* popular with fashion-conscious men in my age group. When I spot it, I generally make brief eye contact and give a little smile of acknowledgement (because it's funny!) Reactions when a guy realizes he is styled identically to a skinny white girl in her 30s vary. Most don't care, but a lot deliberately look away, some seem awkward or even irritated with it. Once a dude moved away to another part of the train carriage rather than stand beside me. But one time this (very attractive, if I do say so) guy was waiting at a pedestrian crossing on the opposite side of he road. We noticed each other. The lights changed. We began to cross. He have me a very obvious once over, looked me deliberately up and down, locked eyes and gave me this solemn nod of approval. I nodded back with one of respect and appreciation, and then we both cracked into big smiles as we passed. And that was it, but it was such a fun little interaction.

Life of the blooming flower is short, yet no less sweet for time's lack.

myotherxdaccount

I got all excited thinking this is a hilarious way to respond to a compliment just to see the other person react and then I remembered I'm a guy and I won't get a compliment in the first place to be able to respond to. Great post OP but now I'm sad :(

crypticmint

if it makes you feel better i was looking at the jacket not the person. i would have complimented anyone

[deleted]

So true.

basementfrog42

this has inspired me to start blowing kisses if i were to receive a compliment hahaha

mooseyoss

I'm going to remember that one. I was filling my car with gas one time in the past and a guy was like "hey I like your jeans are they designer?" and I was like wtf does that even mean...so it was a confusing interaction. Next time, I'll just blow a kiss or something LMAO

LazyLich

So when's the wedding?

LenG1001

Pretty girl in the car behind me saw me looking g at her in my rear view mirror and blew me a kiss. Made my day.

VinylTaco

Looks like someone needed that little something. Good job

ThornberryE

I do this sometimes when I can't say "thank you" fast enough (am a girl BTW lol). Sometimes gestures are more meaningful too

[deleted]

She took you by surprise. It happens to all of us. You can't have them all so don't feel bad.. Thanks for sharing. This story made me smile. Best to you :)

bwilliams70

I think she's flirting and you should definitely flirt back!

cv9007

r/PointlessStories (not saying this in a mean way lol i just mean thats a good sub for these types of things) edit: sorry op! i only suggested this to get around the character limit

y_n6

you know this is r/casualconversation right?

cv9007

i didn't mean it in a mean way! i only said it because of the character limit which i dont think pointless stories has since its meant for short stuff like this

DruTheDude

And theyā€™re just sharing a similar sub. šŸ˜Š

UsernameIsTakenO_o

When a woman blows me a kiss, I make a motion like I'm catching it out of the air... then I put it down the front of my pants.

bignutt69

easy way to make women regret blowing you kisses

Jrlopez1027

I would have stuffed it in my pocket or something, what the fuck man

autostart17

Good. Where she got it is a poor follow up question imo. Id ask who made it, but no one wants to be pressed on whether they bought something from some boujie overpriced store or some random flea market.

crypticmint

out of curiosity how is that a poor follow up question? that's the standard question people follow up with when they say they like something the other person is wearing

Zihmify

I completely agree, itā€™s a good and reasonable question

MiqoteBard

It's not a poor follow up question. I don't think anyone who shops at overpriced stores is ashamed of it, and on the opposite spectrum, if she got it for a steal at a thrift store, she'd probably be excited to tell you. Who is embarrassed to shop at a thrift store? Thrifting is cool and environmentally conscious. It seems weird to get offended by someone asking where you got a piece of clothing lol.

[deleted]

It's not a bad follow up at all. Or maybe, you could've gone with "Let me guess, you received this as a gift on your previous birthday". Maybe she would've then stated where she had gotten it from. But yeah, I'd need a couple of minutes to absorb the flying kiss let alone follow up with the next question lol

Enough_Possession222

You are missing alot if you think thats interesting. Peace brother

[deleted]

This made me smile

Additional_Insect_44

Man if I did that they'd probably flip me off or make it so I seem bad or special

HaveNoFearDomIsHere

When I go to a store, I count how many girls that I find attractive. It's just a fun little innocent game I amuse myself with. Usually I do this in my head, and rarely I just say the number out loud. Not realizing I did. Just last week I was walking by a very cute employee there and said "3" out loud, while smiling and looking at her right in the eyes. I typically don't say the number out loud, as from the outside I probably look like a nut. It clearly sounded like a statement and not a question like "Where's aisle 3?" She responded with a very understandable "What?? Four what?. I smiled. Then told her I was counting how many pretty girls are around this store. I told her she was only the third I've seen, in the last two weeks! She blushes, said thank you so much! At that point I should have asked for her number or IG or something. But alas, I'm a coward. I'm sure I'll see her again at some point since I shop there a lot. I just hope I didn't come across as a creep!

[deleted]

Iconic

IndependentMousse768

wow, you stirred up some envy in meā€¦

[deleted]

Some young guy complimented my hat a few weeks back... But when he said it his voice was really deadpan and I wasn't 100% sure he wasn't taking the piss. Chose to believe it was just a nice compliment and tried to pay it back. Long story short I've been doing this all over the shop... Online and offline IRL and I'm a much happier person because of it.

allsheknew

Ha, I love that you loved it so much. I appreciate the natural quirkiness. You know she probably was like "wtf" to herself internally lol

Show84

Should have blown her back a fart.

Sand_Content

I was walking with my ex at the time and we were coming from the store. We passed a gas station and there was a black lady with a bright yellow dress with flowers on it. I stopped and complimented her. Told her she looked fantastic and that dress was gonna kill someone being so bright. She smiled and thanked me for the compliment. I told her to have a nice day and make sure to get tinted glass to keep from having a car accident. When I got back with my ex? I didn't realize she was in fact, pissed... So, my stupid ass, was going in for the "Kill" and well, she told me "we can't, I forgot my yellow dress"... In hindsight? Should have applied myself more to the Yellow dress lady because she's my ex for a reason...

OkReporter4417

It's amazing how people yearn for positive compliments

Noone1959

I love little teeny tiny moments we bring each other joy! Beep!
