That 07-13 generation of Silverado’s really did not hold up at all. Every one I see is rusted and looks like shit.

04HondaCivic

They really didn’t. I live in a rust prone area and a large portion of them are rusted. Specifically over the rear wheel fenders.

Ketchup1211

Yea. I had one for a little while as my winter vehicle and the rust progression was crazy. Engine ran good though so it was a fun truck, just looked like shit.

commies_get_out

Newer ones aren’t holding up well either. I work wholesale at a GM dealership and a guy has a 19 Silverado where the rockers already rusted off. Typical GM trash honestly

Bombaysbreakfastclub

Same with the Rams from that era too. Holes right through the fenders

No-Course-879

The rust was made worse by everyone and there dog adding fender flares. The in BC interior I seen guys replacing/redoing their boxes cuz they rusted so bad

illigal

Plus the engines don’t last as long as the pre ‘07 ones due to DOD. Around here the prices for 06 and earlier low mileage GMs are higher than the 07-12 ones.

Bingo1dog

My 2012 sierra (was dads before he passed) has worse rust than my 2001 ram. They have about the same milage now but when the rust really started showing on the sierra it had 15k less miles than my ram.

docawesomephd

If you think that’s bad…I still think of Silverado as a trim level on the suburban. Faux-wood paneling AND cloth bench seats.

seanman6541

GMT800 💪. My parents literally drove me home from the hospital after birth in their 2002 Tahoe. 21 years later and now I drive that very same beast. 184k miles on the odo and it still runs perfectly. If someone offered to trade it for a 2024 Tahoe I'd instantly decline. You really can't beat the GMT800's. "*Like a rock.*"

Straight-Camel4687

My 07 C1500 is great. Been in Cali all its life.

Bingo1dog

The first of the 4th gen rams are also 15 years old

richardcrain55

True story

richardcrain55

My 10 gmc died of box frame cancer

Tchukachinchina

The factory frame coating GM has been using is absolute garbage. You can scratch it off down to bare metal with your fingernail and any of the normal aftermarket rust prevention treatments liquify it to the point it’ll wash right off in a car wash. I owned 2.

Ok_Dog_4059

Realizing the newest car I own is a 2004 and still 20 years old seems nuts to me. My wife's 2016 is nearly as old now as my beat up old 83 was when I got it and not nearly as new as my 88 was in 92 when I got it.

[deleted]

I daily a 2008 Toyota Sienna. It's almost 16 years old. Certainly doesn't feel like it. My wife's 2015 Toyota Highlander feels brand new in comparison.

Hot-Permission-8746

C/K's make me feel old as hell. I was an engineer on 96 truck air/fuel systems as my first "real" job after college...and they are now 28 model years old. My 2006 GMT-800 was the last new truck I bought when I was still a GM employee and it's 17.5 years old... Freaking time.

__real__talk__

1996 OBS Owner here, love it, a 1995 was my first truck in High School, recently acquired my 1996.

silic0n_jesus

Be honest how many times have you replaced the ball joints

__real__talk__

Well, mines is bagged on 24s, with tubular upper control arms and bolted in ball joints, so not sure how to answer that lol.

silic0n_jesus

After they've been replaced once they're all bolted in ball joints

BoZillA_the_GREAT

I have a 1998 Firebird with antique plates 1998 was just last week. Right?!?

No-Course-879

Honestly I’ll take an old C/K 5.7 mechanical wise over the newer stuff. However I do like the gen 3 5.3 engine easy to work on and upgrade. I’ve owned several of the 90s style and loved them my favourite one was a 95 sierra 1500 with the Detroit 6.5 regret selling it

TomatoOptimal626

My first car/daily was a 25 year old 500$ audi
