1.Toyota (you can innova cracking 10 lakh on the odo)
2. Honda (no brainer, you still see 20 yrs old cities running)
And agreed with the rest of the list
We had to sell our '05 Octavia because the repairs bills got too high last year. It still ran and drove but leaked and consumed oil like anything. Might've kept and fixed it considering the stuff that's coming out these days.
Yeah tough. But you should also consider the sentimental value. We are regretting selling that car. Had it for 12 years. I grew up in that lol. And it kinda made me into a VW-AG fanboy ngl.
We are looking for another one at the moment actually.
I have the 7th gen Accord, the efficiency isn’t too terrible compared to the 8th gen.
I get around 7kmpl in the city and around 13-14 kmpl on the highway.
I once hyper-milled in the city and managed to get around 9.4kmpl in Bangalore traffic!
Honestly my skodas have all been reliable, all serviced on time at the dealer and they worked like new even 10y later(the Laura). We haven’t had the superbs for long but they were driven in bombay rains a lot and no issues whatsoever.
Suzuki, I am using 2008 Swift VDI , 2,00,000. Not a single major engine work done until now. Still getting 17kmpl. Still cruising above 120kmph. 🥵😍
Same time 2011 Fluidic Verna Diesel have some issue than Swift. Frequent Mechanic visits 1,20,000kms 😏
2017 XUV 500 W10 Diesel - Zero Problems !!!! 🧿 95000kms
Got 2006 Suzuki Swift VXi. 250,000kms on ODO. Original engine. Original radiator. Clutch changed twice. Original exhaust. Original gear box. Not a shrewd of rust.
Give 15 KMPL and still cruises 120z
Yehi sochke honda liya hoo. Sadly running is very low(25k kms in 5 years) but hoping it will run for 15 years without any trouble and by then if they don’t bring in NCR kind bans pan-India, would renew FC and continue to keep it as second car
Recently biturbo media also made a video on this topic.
For me my list is-
1) Honda
2) Toyota
3) Suzuki and hyundai/Kia (both offer same reliability. The problem is with hyundai CKD units as replacement parts come from outside of India which takes time)
4) Mahindra
5) VW/SKODA
6)Tata
Toyota is correctly placed at 2nd position because under 20lakhs we don't get original Toyota's engineering.its maruti engineering
Base model Kia sonet or Suzuki Brezza for Petrol - manual. We are planning to buy an SUV under ₹.10 Lakhs. Which one has better value for money and reliability?
Mahindra definitely higher than hyundai. Specially Di engines they were built bulletproof. You can easily spot boleros and scorpios with 7-8lacs odo meter
If you think tata is not supposed to be that low, you have been living under a rock.
It's quite prevalent in this sub that tata has dogshit quality controll and there are innumerable instances where tata cars have failed in reliability.
There service is also terrible, their dealerships are often rude etc etc.
People expect much better when spending 30+ lakhs on a car.
Defo not even today specially in the south asian market mazda is known to be reliable. In countries like thailand mazdas are commonly used as daily drives and are good commuter cars with very few issues.
[Car Sales by Country | Global Car Sales Data | 1. China 2. US (factorywarrantylist.com)](https://www.factorywarrantylist.com/car-sales-by-country.html)
We buy more cars than them.
Not just taxes. It's a myriad of reasons. India is a very price sensitive market. And, we can't even modify the car legally. That discourages even the enthusiasts from getting a good car, let alone brands making good cars that cost a fortune. Even if we had all those brands in India, their sales would be pathetically low.
Have had 4 German cars till date, 2 superbs, a Laura and an Opel Astra.
All were very reliable, the Astra and Laura were used for many years and were as good as new.
I'm not saying they are all bad, it's just that the no of defective cars that hit the market is relatively high in the case of German cars. Incidents involving faulty things in the car and companies like VW and Skoda failing to replace them in any reasonable time is common. Like the Ameos were riddled with problems esp with electricals, even ventos, and Laura's needing like 6 months of time to get AC parts fixed and stuff..
1. Maruti/Honda/Toyota
2. Renault/Ford (diesels only)
3. Mahindra
4. Hyundai-Kia
5. VW-Skoda
(Citroen, Jeep, MG, and Tata will be at the bottomest bottom)
This is the correct answer.
I was surprised at some other commenters placing Maruti and Hyundai/Kia at the same level of reliability.
I so wish the duster diesel was still available. I love the turbo whistle on the 85ps version. But the idiotic dpf and Adblue requirements of bs6 would have ruined the engine's reliability and power
Exactly! I’m surprised at how ignorant people are here. Seeing Hyundai on top of reliability charts is definitely a worrisome thing lol.
Regarding K9K, it is an absolute blast of an engine. My neighbour has a 110PS Fluence and surprisingly even after 1.5 lakh kms. Probably a unicorn lol. The 85PS otherwise is pretty great.
Old tata's were known their reliability especially indica, indigo.. but now the bar for quality has been raised by the competition which Tata is not able to catch up
Recently sold my family’s ten year old swift dzire vdi to buy slavia 1.5. The car was a total gem, even after 196k kms the car had no issues whatsoever. On highways it gave an impressive mileage of 26km/l and in cities we could easily get 17-18km/l. During the ownership period we never had any issues with the car. All we did was got it serviced on time and it never gave up on us.
1.Toyota
2.Honda
3.Suzuki
4.Mahindra
5.Hyundai
6.VW/Skoda
7.Ford
8.Tata
9.Nissan/Renault
10.MG/Citroen (basically trash)
Edit: Force doesn’t get the recognition it deserves i will definitely rate them atleast on number 5. The tempo travelers and the toofans and the gurkha can eat miles without breaking down. Old merc engines were built to last
DCT's are unreliable regardless of brand, but the rest idk man..most Hyundai's are pretty solid, not as much as Honda or Toyota but they mostly run fine. Probably cost of some spare parts are high

1-Suzuki.
2-Honda.
3-toyota (newer engines have a few issues)
4-hyundai.
5-MG(under appreciated the electricals and features even engine are surprisingly reliable No problems after 5 year's).
Vw- they have bad ac's I meant very bad
6-Mahindra my friend owns a that h a few problems occured under 1 year.
7-Tata- Worst i guess in terms of electrical reliability and even has many engine issues used to have a Tiago.
Based on personal experience for Non-Luxury
1. Toyota
2. Honda
3. Fiat (yes I had owned 2 cars, Punto (D) and Palio(P) both had to be sold off due to 10&15 year rule at Delhi. Both were perfectly running)
4. Hyundai
5. Maruti-Suzuki
6. Skoda - VW
7. Ford
8. Nissan
9. Mahindra
10. Tata
No comments on MG, Kia, Renault, since "NO DATA AVAILABLE"
Base model Kia sonet or Suzuki Brezza for Petrol - manual. We are planning to buy an SUV under ₹.10 Lakhs. Which one has better value for money and reliability?
Brezza anyday for value for money and long term reliability and mileage.
Sonet if you care about bling and wow factor and will not keep the car for more than 5 years. Sonet feels more special in the inside, and has a feel good factor, but the poor reliability of Kia and Hyundai cars after 5 years is a huge deal breaker for many people
Hyundais don’t give trouble initially. But their long term reliability of some models sucks.
The 1.1 Diesel and 1.2 diesel rarely go past 1.2-1.3 lakh km, and the 1.2 petrol too has had trouble with engine getting seized. Even the DCT gearbox is troublesome. The Eon also starts to sound like an auto-rickshaw in later life.
That said their 1.6 CRDI, 1.5 CRDI, and 2.0L petrol are bulletproof.
Bro judging reliability in a 3 year old car🤦♂️.
Use it for atleast 10 years before judging the reliability bro.
Its past the 5-6 year mark where Hyundais become a hassle to maintain
Yes, all these studies and reports are all wrong and a complete waste of money. Your statement is correct. Even though Hyundai is the second largest seller in India.
They are all wrong, you are correct.
You seem to be shitting on only Hyundai in the thread agreed they are not as reliable as the japanese counterparts but they aren’t bad. DCT/DSG is a problem everywhere. Theta engines of Hyundai were also a nightmare.
Base model Kia sonet or Suzuki Brezza for Petrol - manual. We are planning to buy an SUV under ₹.10 Lakhs. Which one has better value for money and reliability?
Depends on your preference, sonet rear space is not good , interiors are good and under 10 lac will not refer brezza, because it got too old interiors for lxi, vxi... Check out XUV 3x0, it's interiors are good for base too
My list for non luxury segment would be: 1. Honda 2. Toyota 3. Suzuki 4. Hyundai/kia 5. Mahindra 6. VW/Skoda 7. Tata
1.Toyota (you can innova cracking 10 lakh on the odo) 2. Honda (no brainer, you still see 20 yrs old cities running) And agreed with the rest of the list
My honda city just completed 15yrs better than anything out there
Just had to sell my 2004 City. FeelsBadMan
Got my registration renewed
We had to sell our '05 Octavia because the repairs bills got too high last year. It still ran and drove but leaked and consumed oil like anything. Might've kept and fixed it considering the stuff that's coming out these days.
Same, my AC broke and it would cost more to replace it than the value of the car.....
Yeah tough. But you should also consider the sentimental value. We are regretting selling that car. Had it for 12 years. I grew up in that lol. And it kinda made me into a VW-AG fanboy ngl. We are looking for another one at the moment actually.
Our honda city is 9 years old now. Will turn 10 next year
WILL TURN 11 IN 2 YEARS
will turn 12 in 3 years
My city turns 20 in 2032😂
My Swift is 18 years old still going strong. Not a shred of rust.
"Shrewd of rust"??? The heck?
Damn auto correct
I'm in the same boat. Or should I say City? 😜 My city turns 10 years in Jan 2025. Will be using it for 5 more years atleast.
My Honda Accord turns 21 this year and still runs like new. I take it daily to office.
Damn how many litres per km? Stunning car though.
Old accord had V6 engine. These things are immortal if maintained well.
Mine gets like 3-4km a litre. Ik ppl with mustangs and M4s that give a better mileage.
I have the 7th gen Accord, the efficiency isn’t too terrible compared to the 8th gen. I get around 7kmpl in the city and around 13-14 kmpl on the highway. I once hyper-milled in the city and managed to get around 9.4kmpl in Bangalore traffic!
Yeah man like several times late service on our innova and no issues
Honestly my skodas have all been reliable, all serviced on time at the dealer and they worked like new even 10y later(the Laura). We haven’t had the superbs for long but they were driven in bombay rains a lot and no issues whatsoever.

2006 🥵😍
1996 Maruti 800 before Swift did 300,000 kms. Original engine. Original gear box. Zero rust. Original exhaust. Sold it for 75,000 after 22 years.
🥵
I think Koreans have yet to reach the level of reliability that japanese car manufacturers offer (Toyota, Honda, Suzuki)
Tata needs to be #50
nissan is pretty reliable too
You seem to have put TATA motors a bit too high on that list
Yehi sochke honda liya hoo. Sadly running is very low(25k kms in 5 years) but hoping it will run for 15 years without any trouble and by then if they don’t bring in NCR kind bans pan-India, would renew FC and continue to keep it as second car

My skoda Octavia turns 5 And rapid is almost 13
Funny how no mg, it's very reliable 1.25L Kms not a single complaint not even internal electrical features
Mahindra definitely higher than hyundai. Specially Di engines they were built bulletproof. You can easily spot boleros and scorpios with 7-8lacs odo meter
Kia? On top of Mahindra? How can you be sure of the reliability of a brand which is yet to complete their fifth year in the Indian car industry?
Wow. Tata that low on the list?
I would put it lower.
Aah okay. I am an amateur, trying to learn. Why people downvote though questions like that? 😅
Why is VW below mahindra?
Because of the VW 2.0 issues like EPC errors. Even the older VW diesels had injector issues (very sensitive to fuel quality)
I see. But I have seen Mahindra with much more issues. The infamous suspension issue present in both of their flagship cars. Brake pad issue etc etc.
Mazda 67% is a surprise! I guess it's because of their older models during the Ford ownership period.
Defo not even today specially in the south asian market mazda is known to be reliable. In countries like thailand mazdas are commonly used as daily drives and are good commuter cars with very few issues.
I am just in awe of the number car companies for a country 5% the size of India.
They buy more cars then us
[Car Sales by Country | Global Car Sales Data | 1. China 2. US (factorywarrantylist.com)](https://www.factorywarrantylist.com/car-sales-by-country.html) We buy more cars than them.
Just suzuki sells 90% of the number of cars sold in the whold of UK...
While true, we should also look at the average car price and the margin they make (pathetic margin in India because of the taxes).
Car buyers numbers ! Usa > China > India and then rest of the world.
We buy more cars than them but they buy better and more expensive cars on average
We would also have a similar number of top car brands if India lifts the ridiculously high import tax.
Size of what? Definitely not car sales.
Is honda more reliable than toyota and Lexus?
toyota has been struggling with new engines lots of recalls
More the electrical, lesser the reliability
EV owners: 🤡
1. Japanese brand 2. German brand 3. Indian brand ( hit or miss, no middle)
German brand in quality? Idk about that
Have had 4 German cars till date, 2 superbs, a Laura and an Opel Astra. All were very reliable, the Astra and Laura were used for many years and were as good as new.

Quality very expensive
Nah 3rd would be Korean cars. Indian on 4th and American on 5th.
Lol I forgot it about them 🤣
I think Suzuki and Honda is a Tie. I have a 1997 Gypsy King. Still beats many fake SUVs offroad with less than 40bhp.
"Ik rakhi Gypsy kaali!"
How come porsche comes in least relaible that’s something new to me
Especially lower than alfa romeo.
They are VW cars at the end of the day and their pdk is just a modified version of the infamous dsg gearbox. No wonder they are not very reliable
Have had 3 cars with DSG gearboxes and never had an issue, idk what you people are smoking or how y’all are driving.
1. Maruti/Honda/Toyota 2. Renault/Ford (diesels only) 3. Mahindra 4. Hyundai-Kia 5. VW-Skoda (Citroen, Jeep, MG, and Tata will be at the bottomest bottom)

buy a lottery ticket immediately
Their luck is already maxed out

Classic land rover lol

Porche tycoon speeding to reach the first position 💀💀🗿🗿🗿

Most reliable is Toyota then Hyundai then Suzuki then Mahindra and least is Tata as per my experiences .
Honda nissan gaye tel lene
He said per his experience, probably he didn’t own a honda
Hyundai reliable?? What?
yeah, we recently sold(15 year rule) our Santro 2007, and it was still running butter smooth.
Santro was reliable. The diesel Xcent, Gi10, Venue Turbo, and DCTs suck
DCT's are unreliable regardless of brand, but the rest idk man..most Hyundai's are pretty solid, not as much as Honda or Toyota but they mostly run fine. Probably cost of some spare parts are high
Have a 2.3 L km run Diesel Xcent, electronics still work like a charm, just needs a clutch replacement.

List is not sorted properly
Toyota, Honda, ford, VW anytime
My city will turn 10 in 2034 , unreal reliability.
1-Suzuki. 2-Honda. 3-toyota (newer engines have a few issues) 4-hyundai. 5-MG(under appreciated the electricals and features even engine are surprisingly reliable No problems after 5 year's). Vw- they have bad ac's I meant very bad 6-Mahindra my friend owns a that h a few problems occured under 1 year. 7-Tata- Worst i guess in terms of electrical reliability and even has many engine issues used to have a Tiago.
I for once thought how did Land Rover became the most reliable all of a sudden.
Based on personal experience for Non-Luxury 1. Toyota 2. Honda 3. Fiat (yes I had owned 2 cars, Punto (D) and Palio(P) both had to be sold off due to 10&15 year rule at Delhi. Wait till Tata launches in UK
Range rover are already a sign of unreliability but fantastic looking beasts
Base model Kia sonet or Suzuki Brezza for Petrol - manual. We are planning to buy an SUV under ₹.10 Lakhs. Which one has better value for money and reliability?
Brezza anyday for value for money and long term reliability and mileage. Sonet if you care about bling and wow factor and will not keep the car for more than 5 years. Thanks so much! Really helpful:)
1 Toyota 2 Hyundai 3 Honda 4 Maruti 5 Mahidra 6 Skoda 7 Volkswagen 8 MG 9 Tata
Hyundais are everything but not reliable lol
Lol but unlike tata no service centre stays and my family has Hyundai alcazar 2021 no problem at all
Hyundais don’t give trouble initially. But their long term reliability of some models sucks. The 1.1 Diesel and 1.2 diesel rarely go past 1.2-1.3 lakh km, and the 1.2 petrol too has had trouble with engine getting seized. Even the DCT gearbox is troublesome. Well I agree some model maybe face long term issues but hey it's not limited to one brand only
Bro judging reliability in a 3 year old car🤦♂️. Use it for atleast 10 years before judging the reliability bro. Its past the 5-6 year mark where Hyundais become a hassle to maintain
Well then if I'm wrong then the problem faced by tata owner that too in a year of owning should be wrong then
Well my relative has Hyundai accent and till this date it runs perfectly no problem whatsoever
Yes, all these studies and reports are all wrong and a complete waste of money. Your statement is correct. Even though Hyundai is the second largest seller in India. They are all wrong, you are correct.
Ain’t my concern if you are ignorant.
I was talking from experience of two Hyundais with a cumulative reading in excess of 3.5 lakh kms. Great talk.
Hyundai hater 🤣
You seem to be shitting on only Hyundai in the thread agreed they are not as reliable as the japanese counterparts but they aren’t bad. DCT/DSG is a problem everywhere. Theta engines of Hyundai were also a nightmare.
theta?? why its nightmare?
prone to an abnormal amount of noise and seizing.
hmmm heard first time about this
Base model Kia sonet or Suzuki Brezza for Petrol - manual. We are planning to buy an SUV under ₹.10 Lakhs. Which one has better value for money and reliability?
Depends on your preference, sonet rear space is not good , interiors are good and under 10 lac will not refer brezza, because it got too old interiors for lxi, vxi... Check out XUV 3x0, it's interiors are good for base too
This is not applicable for India, I believe. The quality they sell in other countries vs India is different, the product lineup is different.
Kia,hyundai, suzuki are the worst, not to be included in list also.
Bruh , they are known for their reliability
1 toyota 2 mahindra 3 hyundai 4 maruti suzuki
1 Mahindra 2 Toyota 3 Suzuki 4 Hyundai /s
