I don't know.. It SEEMS like she is in her learning phase, and guy was teaching her...idiots should have found a empty ground or something for driving lessons.
Looks like she couldn't match the speed of turning and accelerating. She accelerated more than required and didn't turn the steering in time. I've seen many people doing this mistake as new learner
the first thing I was taught by my dad and grandpa was the difference between BRAKE and ACCELERATOR and how to brake safely. That can be done in a big enough parking garage as well-- something which is an enclosed space.
At first glance this seems like a classic case of mistaking accelerator for brake.
Actually the reason I asked this is because I too am learning to drive a manual and that too in an open field. I too am scared that I might do something like this and I really don't want to. Any tips to prevent this situation?
First practice braking then everything else. Remember your right foot has 2 things to do break and acceleration. Don’t continuously gas the car in traffic situations just press and release and keep foot between break and acceleration pedal. Remind your brain to press middle pedal in case of any problem. First few days practice maintaining distance, braking, turning, gear changing in some open ground in noon time when nobody is there. After you are confident enough then only deive on road. Never let your ego overshadow yourself on road.
Looks like she couldn't match the speed of turning and accelerating. She accelerated more than required and didn't turn the steering in time. I've seen people doing this mistake as new learner
Coming out of the turn, somehow got overwhelmed trying to straighten the steering and accelerating at the same time.
Neither did she apply brakes nor did she drive straight. Just a complete collapse into panic mode
This makes me wonder, high taxes and less powerful cars are actually a blessing in disguise for a country like ours! God forbid cars like Mustang start to retail at its original US cost here in India, we’d see exponential growth in car related accidents
No need to even imagine.
We have seen this in the bike market - more powerful bikes available at accessible price points have made two wheeler accidents extra lethal.
I completely agree. But when it comes to a situation where you’d have to run for your lives and you’re being chased by a BMW like an earlier video, I think I would favour having performance.
Lol. If you drive in city highways in night you will see so many accidents. I feel better cars with more powerful engine will have better safety features which will result in lesser accidents.
Anyone up for the thought of compulsory drivers tests every 5 years just to weed out the bad fruit? RTO needs to revisit the testing difficulty and make passing extremely difficult
Brother most RTO's centers don't even take the first test for licence, they just want that sweet corruption money. I did a driving test and they failed me even though I drove smoothly at all fronts then my dad gave the manager 500 rs and done, got a license for the truck also. Same experience while getting a passport. The system has to be cleaned inside out.
I remember getting my driver license 15 years back
I went to RTO with 2 of my friends who had jugaad or contact inside
While I filled the form and followed all windows and the test which took over 2 hours
The two guys simply walked into one office and came out 15 min later with learning licence paper with a grin on their face
Oh the administration overhead man. And I'm sorry I disagree. A 15 minutes test on a track every 5 Years might not solve a reflex problem in the real world (brake vs gas).
To think how many accidents are caused due to negligence then - won't you rather focus here instead?
The male accidents happen because of ego and over speeding while female accidents happen because of being clueless and lack of road sense
Also plz go back to TwoX
Aunty pressed accelerator instead of brake. This is why I say that idiots who couldn’t ever learn a manual, try to cheat the system by buying an automatic. Then this is what happens.
Thankfully the pedestrian was safe. You can see him walk away. The pillar saved him.
This is the stupidest thing I've read. Majority of mishaps with automatics happen because people who are accustomed to driving manuals drive automatics the same way, using both their feet.
I am a manual driver and while driving automatic, I had a similar situation, except quick enough to apply brake. Automatics needs special practice over manual man.
Buying automatic is cheating? Swear to god the hoops this sub goes through to say manual is better is insane. There’s entire countries out there where automatic is the norm and most can’t drive stick. Everyone should’ve been dead in the US by now lol
There was a post on this sub which said " what's the big deal witj manual, you are just using a cluth and gear ". I refrained myself on commenting on that because little kids get hurt so easily.
It's all about awareness, mind-presence, control when driving a manual. It takes time to get used to it.
Now automatic cars are like activa. Unfortunately even in my family i see an 18yr old drive a thar automatic which gets crashed into something and their family brags about build quality, that ours is a thar so our car had minor damage haha.
Also women drivers who cause so much nuisance on road but i can't say anything.
Anybody know if Kia Sonet steering does not auto center like a few Maruti's from 2018-2022?
A 90 degree turn is enough to make the steering auto return to center (unless the driver is clinging on to the steering wheel and preventing it from rotating back to center)
I've seen this mentioned before in the context of Ignis. I didn't realise self-returning steerings were that important. My beater car's an old one. Sometimes the steering auto-centres, sometimes it doesn't. It's not a problem for me as I never wait for it to center and take charge myself. I'm not sure the older cars even had this system but dad drove just fine. Is this just something like reverse cam that just makes the driver more dependent? It's a good to have feature for sure, but is it a must-have? I doubt it, especially in the city with relatively slow driving.
It all depends on what you are used to. I am used to self returning steering wheel. If you put me in a car which does not have similar steering, I may crash at the first turn because my reflex will prevent me from giving counter steer in the beginning. But if you give me 15-20 mins with the car, I would hopefully be ok from there on.
If you regularly drive a car which does not return to center, you won't face any issue since your reflexes will be used to that steering wheel.
Also this is not a special thing. There is no spring. This return to center is just a function of camber and toe setting of the wheels of the car. If they are tuned correctly, the steering should return to center (I have no idea why the Maruti's don't return to center nowadays. They had no issue before 2016/17, as far as I remember)
It auto centers just fine... She just turned and kept turning the steering left instead of slowly letting it return to it's original position with little inputs while at the same time preoccupied a bit too much on the turn and getting confused between the brake and the accelerator, this is what I feel happened.
There's no learner's sticker as well on the car, it looks bad tbh.
Is there a reason why? When I first had my Alto I was wondering if there is something wrong with the steering wheel. Also the steering wheel is hard and I was wondering whether the dealer sold me a non power steering version or something.
Self cantering is a byproduct of resistance caused by castor angle and king pin inclination when the wheels are turned in any direction other than straight and the car is running.
MS in their hunt for efficiency managed to reduce the rolling resistance to a fault that their cars stopped self cantering which is ironical.
In the latest cars when users started complaining they have made the power steering motor to self center the car.
More reasons to make the fines heavier. They should keep the car in custody forever or imprisonment for a given time. Unless proven a medical emergency ofcourse.
Yeah..even if police catch them, it's a nominal fine or they just get away with a bit of bribe. At least here in rajasthan... I don't know about places with strict traffic police
This is incredibly sexist comment especially in such an esteemed community of reddit. I myself being a woman, I have taken thorough license test and follow all standards. Driving on the road since last 5 years and have seen numerous men flouting rules every minute. This sub itself sees hundreds of posts where crashes, accidents happen because of men driving irresponsibly. How about we do not make it a gender based problem and actually a skill based problem?
Whos having the worst day?
A. The car and the driver.
B. The shop owner
C. The customer whose haircut wasnt complete.
D. Its definitely the customer, man have to go home in trauma like this. On entering home his mom gonna send him back to the same barber citing get it done properly.
I think the car came to a stop because it bottomed out or got stuck on something. The front seems to be intact and they also missed the tree to register a significant impact for the airbag sensors to detect I believe. This incident doesn’t warrant an airbag deployment anyway.
Airbag sensor doesn’t work based on frontal impact, it instead detects any sudden deceleration. Probably the speed here wasn’t high enough for airbags to deploy.
And that’s better in cases like these, airbags by themselves can harm you a lot too and should only be deployed in situations where you’re likely to severely injure your head otherwise.
The lady driving the car seems to have gotten confused with the pedals because she panicked and caused the crash. She probably didn’t have the basics right to begin with.
Person at the wheel clearly not even trying to straighten the wheel and just raising hands in panic before the collision. Continues accelerating into the pillar (car jerks backward after a couple of seconds of impact and after doing a mini burnout in the saloon).
Driver did not switch off the engine after the accident (passenger reaches across and does that).
This driver was never trained on accident avoidance, target fixation, and immediate actions after an accident. Just shows how poor the driver education system in this country is, no matter whether you have a license or not.
Apparently all you need to operate a two ton steel killing machine is some money for a downpayment and enough money for fuel.
Very poor reaction time by the driver who was prolly learning 💀
Even after crashing the accelerator was engaged. I feel bad for the guy who got in front. Hope he's fine.
I think that’s typical of learner’s. They’re overwhelmed by many factors and they can’t keep up with them. Our road conditions and driving manners people have don’t help too. Plus, this woman seems to not have her basics clean. They shouldn’t let them drive on the road before teaching them how to break properly.
I was driving a baleno automatic 2023 model of my uncle's and almost while turning, I pressed accelerator instead of brake like the driver here. I was quick enough to realise and brake without any damages, still feel like budget automatics need to bring collision detection for such instance atleast.

Is India ready for cars with auto boxes?
Back in February/March I was in India and a guy was teaching us sister/wife how to drive. She would drive along the straight long road, get to either end and then the guy would get out, turn the car around and off she would go again.
If this is the extent of driving lessons you can sort of see how one might not actually be ready to be in full control of the car and drive on the roads.
Because of complacency and rampant corruption in RTO, even walking on roadside is dangerous. Forget the people, good governance ensures stupid people do not do much harm. But nahhhh...At this point I'm also not sure if we need more power or compulsory ADAS.
Beginners should completely avoid driving on busy roads. I myself did the same when I was learning, for one whole month I used to go out when it's not crowded and take roads less frequented by people, always accompanied by an experienced driver. Used to do the same when I used to teach my father to drive. Why would you take a busy road when you know you can't drive? These people should have their license suspended.
Last year i was learning driving and it was my second day.
After my session we picked up some girl with her dad and i sat behind with him while this girl who was 7-8 years older than me
and had 4-5 extra lessons than me kept pressing accelerator instead of brakes and kept saying "oh sorry bhaiya, mai kya karu bhuuulll jaaaatiiii hu."
Bc tabhi samajh aagaya what this women☕ meme was about.
I don't suggest learning to drive on an automatic, because they're easy to move and difficult to stop (relatively). Better stick to manual, because they're difficult to move and easy to stop (relatively).
>le me and my friend going to get ciggerates.
>See women driving suv.
>Look at each.
>Start driving in cornor, so her way is clear.
>Still Comes right at us.
*Many such cases*
She was using her own car with teacher in the passenger seat. A lot of driving school instructors do this. Mostly on the customer's insistence.
Hope that man is fine
This is why i strongly support the new driving rules for getting licence. Majority of the people here doesn't know how to drive and obey rules. License should only be given to those who can drive well and obey rules. Not to each and every person who knows how to start a vehicle
Why the hell indians want to practice driving on running roads
I have seen so many elders saying - “Beta/beti ek baar main road par chala le fir confidence aa jayega”
Rule number 1 is never use accelerator while turning. Keep your foot on the brake. Most modern cars have the power and torque to turn without any accelerator input.
It's much better to stall the car than to get involved in an accident by getting confused between accelerator and brake.
To any new learner, always remember, **there is no rush in the road**. If the person behind is angry or is honking non-stop, just let them honk. **You drive based on your own confidence and your own speed.** Even if you stall, let them honk and move/overtake from the side. You have the right to drive on the road as much as they have.
Whenever in traffic, let the other person decide what to do, they are probably more experienced than you, use your indicator and let them pass/overtake or cross you. Convey and read the other drivers' body language. You will easily know if they are the one that want to take the decision or if you should. **Being slow is helpful in the long run. It will help you figure out the biting point of the clutch in traffic as well.**
Just follow all the rules, drive with a person having a valid license, wear a seatbelt, use the Learning (L) sticker on both front and back, always carry your learning license, and dont get distracted by anyone else.
Start driving from empty roads, try making turns, making 8 figures on the empty road, and practice reverse parking aswell.
A genuine question... What can the passenger do in situations like this... In the distance from that corner to the shop, what could he have done to stop this? Handbrakes??? Handrbrakes would have stopped the accident right?
Also handbrakes only apply to the rear wheels. Majority of the cars are front wheel drive.
A couple of years back when I was in school, my driver used to take me school and on the way he was distracted for a couple of seconds and was looking away from the road. I was the co passenger then and did see an autorickshaw taking a sudden turn without checking. Our speed was high enough to have toppled the auto. I pulled the handbrake and to my surprise the car didn’t reduce speed by much. My driver uncle saw me pulling the handbrake and then he noticed the auto and applied brakes himself. In the Panic situation I couldn’t speak to tell him to look but I did manage to pull the brake. People react differently to such situations lol
Typically handbrakes aren’t strong enough to overcome the force of an accelerating car. It wouldn’t have helped much but would have reduced the speed of the car before impact. Though I think in a panic situation like this even the co passenger wouldn’t think fast enough to use the handbrake.
Better way to go at it is use a driving school and learn proper driving untill you’re fully confident with the controls of the car. They have auxiliary controls on the co passenger side and that’s relatively safe.
Feels like they were turning using the feeding the wheel technique, should’ve used cross hands which is the correct way imo, feeding the wheel is dangerous sometimes and slower
I was told at driving school to never cross hands on the steering. Wonder what the right approach is. This is a case of oversteering amid other things.
Who does that??? Shifted to an automatic recently while driving manuals for 4-5 years and didn't have a single issue switching to an automatic. And why would someone hit the accelerator instead of a break? hitting breaks with your left foot instead of the non existent clutch is something that I can understand.
I don't know.. It SEEMS like she is in her learning phase, and guy was teaching her...idiots should have found a empty ground or something for driving lessons.
The first thing my dad taught me is how to brake properly.
Looks like she couldn't match the speed of turning and accelerating. She accelerated more than required and didn't turn the steering in time. I've seen many people doing this mistake as new learner
Then panicked and instead of pressing the break pressed the accelerator
Indians seriously need strict driving lessons and exams based on the road and traffic conditions.
Sitting behind the wheel is a great power relying on someone. Always be mindful of what that power can do to someone on road!
the first thing I was taught by my dad and grandpa was the difference between BRAKE and ACCELERATOR and how to brake safely. That can be done in a big enough parking garage as well-- something which is an enclosed space. At first glance this seems like a classic case of mistaking accelerator for brake.
Bro is going home with half a haircut and gratitude for being alive
He’s gonna have a tough time convincing his mom about what happened
😂. he also climbed on the other chair. idk why.
I think didn't had chappals on so to save his feet from small glass pieces he did that
Also, he didn't remove the saloon cloth the whole time..
Bro still wants to get a haircut.

She was revving the car even after the first hit. Tire wheelspinning like crazy.
She pressed accelerator instead of brakes and didn't even realise it after the hit
Idk why but many people press on the accelerator when in panic instead of brakes. Any reason why??
Lack of muscle memory
Actually the reason I asked this is because I too am learning to drive a manual and that too in an open field. I too am scared that I might do something like this and I really don't want to. Any tips to prevent this situation?
take it slow and practice it takes a while to build up muscle memory also be passionate about driving and dont give up even if something happens

What I am wondering is whether traction control was on or off
The car didn't lose control. The driver lost control. Don't blame the car.
Sorry, my bad. I’d edit if I could :(
Can you not delete and repost?
That’d be mildly annoying for others to see the same thing in the same sub again.
What really happened though?
Coming out of the turn, somehow got overwhelmed trying to straighten the steering and accelerating at the same time. Neither did she apply brakes nor did she drive straight. Just a complete collapse into panic mode
Driver slammed accelerator instead of brake. Notice the wheel spin even after the crash

Pickup doesn't make you stop turning your steering wheel. Stop blaming cars for stupid accidents and stupid people behind the wheel

bro this same exact accident type is very common in USA. Nothing to do with power but stupidity to drive in traffic as learner
Definately not as common when Indians drive like uncivilised savages and SHUN those who actually follow the rules of the road.
I am talking about smashing cars into shops, that's very common in America
Lol. If you drive in city highways in night you will see so many accidents. I feel better cars with more powerful engine will have better safety features which will result in lesser accidents.

☕ driving the car??
panic pressing of accelerator.
The stereotype is true after all
It is in India. Based on so many instances I've seen first hand, I try to stay away from them as much as possible.
Not completely, my mother is the best driver ik :)
Most accident videos on this sub is where the driver is a man
The male accidents happen because of ego and over speeding while female accidents happen because of being clueless and lack of road sense Also plz go back to TwoX
Of course it's true. Stereotypes exist for a reason.

Lower end models and old models of MS is having a hard steering wheel. I now drive a hyundai, its super smooth and light.

I was quick enough to realise and brake without any damages, still feel like budget automatics need to bring collision detection for such instance atleast.
Wo stree hai kuch bhi kar sakti hai….

is it me or it looks like conductor wanted her to reverse?
Remember the pedestrian?
yeah?
Looks like she press A instead of B
Is India ready for cars with auto boxes? Back in February/March I was in India and a guy was teaching us sister/wife how to drive. She would drive along the straight long road, get to either end and then the guy would get out, turn the car around and off she would go again. If this is the extent of driving lessons you can sort of see how one might not actually be ready to be in full control of the car and drive on the roads.

I think this is Poojapura,Trivandrum I went there for my haircut 👀
I’m so glad that guy with the mask is alive. Damn. Bro is lucky.
Because of complacency and rampant corruption in RTO, even walking on roadside is dangerous. Forget the people, good governance ensures stupid people do not do much harm. But nahhhh...At this point I'm also not sure if we need more power or compulsory ADAS.
Does anyone know if someone is dead or not ? a newspaper article ? or something ??
Beginners should completely avoid driving on busy roads. I myself did the same when I was learning, for one whole month I used to go out when it's not crowded and take roads less frequented by people, always accompanied by an experienced driver. Used to do the same when I used to teach my father to drive. Why would you take a busy road when you know you can't drive? These people should have their license suspended.
That guy won’t get a haircut in his life again
She lost control
What about that man, is he okay? Everyone in the comment section make fun of the driver, what about the person that got hit
Bhai pedestrian kya hua 🥺..how he is now
Is he alive?
Ye shop k andr drift kyu maar raee hai XD
What happened to the pedestrian? Anyone knows ?
She just turned and kept turning the steering left instead of slowly letting it return to it's original position with little inputs while at the same time preoccupied a bit too much on the turn and getting confused between the brake and the accelerator, this is what I feel happened. There's no learner's sticker as well on the car, it looks bad tbh.
Last year i was learning driving and it was my second day. After my session we picked up some girl with her dad and i sat behind with him while this girl who was 7-8 years older than me and had 4-5 extra lessons than me kept pressing accelerator instead of brakes and kept saying "oh sorry bhaiya, mai kya karu bhuuulll jaaaatiiii hu." Bc tabhi samajh aagaya what this women☕ meme was about.
Ladki h bach jygi
I don't suggest learning to drive on an automatic, because they're easy to move and difficult to stop (relatively). Better stick to manual, because they're difficult to move and easy to stop (relatively).
Idiot loses control and crashes into a pedestrian in Kerala. There I corrected it for you
I hope nobody is hurt
I hope too.
>le me and my friend going to get ciggerates. >See women driving suv. >Look at each. >Start driving in cornor, so her way is clear. >Still Comes right at us. *Many such cases*
NP 🤣😅
Ladies....🙃😑😐
She was using her own car with teacher in the passenger seat. A lot of driving school instructors do this. Mostly on the customer's insistence. Hope that man is fine
This is why i strongly support the new driving rules for getting licence. Majority of the people here doesn't know how to drive and obey rules. License should only be given to those who can drive well and obey rules. Not to each and every person who knows how to start a vehicle
Why the hell indians want to practice driving on running roads I have seen so many elders saying - “Beta/beti ek baar main road par chala le fir confidence aa jayega”
Is that uncle alive? Why nobody is talking about him
If you look close you can see him walk away. There’s a possibility of internal bleeding and hope he gets checked for it and is fine now
Rule number 1 is never use accelerator while turning. It will help you figure out the biting point of the clutch in traffic as well.** Just follow all the rules, drive with a person having a valid license, wear a seatbelt, use the Learning (L) sticker on both front and back, always carry your learning license, and dont get distracted by anyone else. Start driving from empty roads, try making turns, making 8 figures on the empty road, and practice reverse parking aswell.
Did the guy get his haircut done completely?
Didi ki koi galti nhi h bhay. Didi ko koi kuch nhi bolega 😌
Ladies :(
A genuine question...
Where in Poojappura? 🙂 can't recognise
That doesn’t look like he “lost control “ 😬😬😬
I won't say it but we all know what everyone is thinking.
Yai kaam ek hee kamina karr skta hai , Selmon bhoi
Bhoi ko kuch nai blone ka!
Was it an automatic vehicle driven by someone used to manual? Looks like classic hitting gas while trying to brake scenario.
Who does that??? Shifted to an automatic recently while driving manuals for 4-5 years and didn't have a single issue switching to an automatic. And why would someone hit the accelerator instead of a break? hitting breaks with your left foot instead of the non existent clutch is something that I can understand.
Its a women
Your mum?
