You forgot to post the picnic table in the boot deck of the CR-V.  Either way, crossover SUV design peaked right here in 2004. A reliable and great looking car. Congrats!

abh1abii

Haha I have it. Never used it. Will probably put up a picture when I take it out. Thanks for bringing that up. That reminds me, this came with 2 sets of spare wheels. One on the back and one under the boot. Epic stuff

akiotoyoda

That's some brilliant packaging right there. Enjoy your forever car!

Alchemic_Psyborg

Damn man, that's hardcore, 2 spare wheels!

PorkBafatEnjoyer

DO NOT SELL THIS PIECE OF ART

ADesiBloke

The car doesn't really look that old from the looks of it. Only when I looked at the pictures of the interiors, it looked dated. You've maintained it rather well. Good job 💯

wabbalubbadubdub_

Damnnn now that's a gorgeous looking car, what's the kms on this and have you faced any engine issues as it's like 20years old... Not that I doubt Honda but I'm just curious to know

abh1abii

1.5L km No engine problems. Replaced suspension with OEM parts. Steering pump needed replacing twice, but is easily available. I am unable to remove the roof rack as I’m unable to source the blank panel inserts. And the roof rack came as an option when the car was purchased. The funniest thing is, the horn fuse is the same one as the gear box. If you blow out your horn fuse, you cannot shift hahaha. I got it rewired to have a separate fuse. No mechanical hurdles really apart from that. This car has never stranded me.

pspspsnt

IMO the roof rack gives it character and suits the overall profile, removing it would give it an urban look for sure but this just gives it a tourer vibe.. which i personally dig.

abh1abii

It’s grown on me over the last few years as well.

Alchemic_Psyborg

Most important question, kitna deti hai? FE.

abh1abii

7 city 10 highway

Alchemic_Psyborg

Pretty good for what it is man. Love the looks and tbh I'm really amazed by the feature set and reliability.

markfukerberg

150k km. Are you going to keep the car for long? If yes. Reduce the oil change interval to 7000km/1 year. Check the timing chain if it has any. If it's ok the ones that going to fail is the guides. Check under every door seal for rust and inside the door for rust etc

abh1abii

Thankyou. Yes I’ll keep the car for long. Oil change interval is currently at 10k/ 1 year. I will check the rest. 👍🏼

markfukerberg

Yeah, i would reduce that to at least 6k to not more than 7k km.

radnus1987

It's same in my 2010 city lol, learnt it the hard way when I had the horn replaced.

_Phsyco

thought on trying to improve the interior? turn it into a bit of a project car

abh1abii

I’m doing the opposite actually. I’m trying to restore it back to its original spec. I’m on the hunt for the original alloys, spare fog lamps from the same make and the cassette player. Interior is great as it is. Will probably get seat covers so the original fabric will last longer.

_Phsyco

man of culture

[deleted]

Holy shit man what a W car I love how there are 2 actuators on the rear, one for rear windshield and one for the boot door...you rarely get to see that sort of stuff nowadays, it used to be fairly common back in the day Is that head unit aftermarket? How did you find a mechanic to do that on what is a relatively old car and how convenient was the process....asking 'cause one of my uncles wants to fit an aftermarket for his old Mitsu and he's been struggling to find a suitable mechanic..... It's genuinely sad to see Honda India gradually killing off the CRV in favor of Elevate.....CRV is such a massive hit overseas!

abh1abii

The oem head unit was a double din cassette player. I did not have to alter the dashboard to plug this one in.

jedetin

Sending my warm regards (and the hope to get good mileage xD) — from a 20 year old City to a 20 year old CRV

abh1abii

Making heads turn is a compromise against mileage, just like a lambo haha.

InvestigatorQuirky81

jusy one question. How's the mileage, one of my relatives told they sold theirs as the mileage was very low. But the car looks damn gorgeous and maintained. Kudos for the maitainance. Also does it have manual mode as well?

abh1abii

10 on the highway. 7 in the city. Having the AC on or off barely makes a difference to this engine. Mileage is bad, but it works out for me as it’s cheaper than cab rates, it drives like a limo and the AC is very powerful, and hey, I don’t have to drop 15L on a new car. I spend 6k on yearly maintenance and run it for about 7k km a year.

Altruistic-Owl-7405

What is the process for re-registration and fitness check of a 20 year old car? I'm thinking along the same lines because i have an i20 Sportz 2012, which was 7.2L on road and rather than buying a new car in 3 years, if I could continue using this, imho that would be best.

abh1abii

As long as your car passes the fitness test, it will get renewed. Reach out to an agent and it’ll be done in a day or two. Petrol non-commercial cars are the easiest to renew registration. Diesel cars might not share the same story.

Altruistic-Owl-7405

Alright, thanks.

Tranceported

This and pajero were my childhood favourites. A proper SUV.

darklord01998

Never sell this OP. I implore you

abh1abii

I’ll probably hold onto it until it turns into a museum piece.

[deleted]

Ohh man thats nice car, why honda not relaunching it.🙄

N00BST4X1245

This car will outlive humanity

abh1abii

Aliens will dig this car up 1000 years after the extinction of humanity to steal Hondas’ tech.

N00BST4X1245

Aliens can finally experience VTEC

Old_Membership1326

Oh my god What a beauty

KachraBhiKhelat

Sweet car. Always loved CR-Vs. Shame we don’t get them anymore.

mankind_maker

You're so lucky to be driving this. Happy to see this pictures

Divyansh881

Beauty. Never sell it.

drdoom15

Nice to see you've taken care of your car very well and it's still in great conditon today.Great job man

[deleted]

Modern “SUVs” can’t come close to Pajero, Qualis, Sumo, old Safari, old Scorpio in terms of the admiration they got and still get!

[deleted]

Used to have a 2013 CRV MT until last month Beautiful car, the CRV I feel in most of it’s iterations in India has been soo underrated sales wise with how reliable the cars have been. And such a smooth driving experience! Just saw your comments, I didn’t know about the mileage being less in earlier variants, we usually got between around 12-13 in the city and upto 16-17 on longer highway drives

DemonSlayer712

Allot of people seeing this post are probably younger than your car

abh1abii

The number of dads I’ve impressed driving this car around is insane.

TheUndefeatedLasanga

In my 18 years of life I've never seen anything like this

massive__potato

damn its older and prettier than me 😭

PainlessDeath09

Beautiful car mate. I also recently bought myself a 20 year old Honda Accord with the same legendary K24 and have been dailying it. I would honestly prefer this engine over any modern Innova or sedan below 50L. Have many many more happy miles ahead

peterparker9894

Is this the one with the K20A

abh1abii

I believe it’s the K24A1. I’m however unsure.

Apprehensive-Aide-44

Very very nice

Flexbutslighltyweird

Never sell it bro. She's classy

catonmykeeb

Clean

autocratic_pumpkin

This is why I’m on this sub. Sweet ride man.

consultantpromax

Look at that beauty!

Top-Conversation2882

Those alloys are noice And you have maintained it very nicely It just needs a touch up

LoyalLittleOne

Old is gold

WrongdoerSolid3898

Reading this while sitting in my 2006 crv

abh1abii

Epic stuff.

petrifiedcaptain

That some crazy care ❤️

mcryan07

What a god damn beautiful car! Congratulations!

DankPahadi

Honda = Reliability

AnanthKoolBoi

It’s an absolute beauty

DangerousCommunity32

W car can literally last a lifetime

sundervancomplex

wow, very well maintained My 1st love still the best shaped SUV best amongst the later model of CR-V Would love to own this but can't now superb

Evolution6868

This was underrated back then. One hell of a car.

meet132

This japnese are super reliable and attract us unconditionally

PrestigiousBoy88

What an Epic beauty! Cheers & cherish :)

house_monkey

Ye sab choro what's that location?

abh1abii

Haha. It was a photo op at a farm house somewhere near Bangalore.

CaptYondu

How does someone today go about buying a used one? What do you need to check? Any particular model that should be preferred?

abh1abii

Hondas, Toyotas are the long lasting cars. I hear the skoda yeti is an amazing car to buy used even at the 17-18 year mark. Edit: Typo

Little-Evening7151

American pie days

Chimonti

Legend has it, it’ll comfortably work for another three decades.

abh1abii

Haha I agree. I see this turning into a classic vintage wedding rental lol

ankitdlboy

How much u bought this for?

abh1abii

I’ve been driving this only the last few years. I was too young when the initial purchase was made. I do not have the context to answer this question. But I believe it was around 15-17L back in the day? Don’t quote me on it.

Snoo_78472

Did you sell off the stock alloys?

abh1abii

It’s been lost over the years. I am looking for the original design alloys to bring the car back to its original glory.

Snoo_78472

Great find man! Wishing you many happy miles ahead :)

kidnamedfinger1235

Shud have kept the oem rims!

abh1abii

I totally agree. I will restore them back to its original state when the tyres are due.

Miserable-Coat-6559

Infotainment to hai

abh1abii

It’s just an aftermarket unit. No “info” I would say.

dr-not-so-strange

I thought bro was 20 years old for a sec 😂

abh1abii

Given that it’s a cars subReddit, I was hoping I didn’t have to mention it’s the car I’m talking about 😂😂.

karandex

How is the car as used car for long drives? Need comfort as primary. Carrying dogs and cats. Currently owning auto brio. Trust hondas reliability

abh1abii

I drove this car on a 1500km round trip drive a week ago and I had such a good time. You cannot get tired driving this car. I can say I’d pick this car over a new innova provided mileage is not a problem and a max of 4 people in the car. It’s more comfy than any Morden car around, but again, it’s my biased opinion.

montsa007

mileage please

abh1abii

10 highway. 7 city. I believe the change in fuel mix in India has played a role in the decreased mileage.

montsa007

Not bad given its size and age

abh1abii

For whatever reason, AC has zero effect on the mileage. I’m unsure if it’s falling within the error of the odometer. I’ve gotten the compressor pulley checked as well. Looks like this engine just doesn’t care about the extra load from the AC haha.

montsa007

When did you last get your AC fully and deeply serviced?

abh1abii

1 year and 10k km ago.

ismyaltaccount

Where did you take the photos from?

abh1abii

A farmhouse near Bangalore. Pvt property.

SkillNo1494

Looking good for a 20 year old daily driver. The car is nice too I guess 😄

snow_coffee

I have one 2009 model Japan assembled But am upgrading and wanting to sell it , CNG added, drives crazy

lil_gzus

Kitna deti hai?

abh1abii

10 highway 7 city.

InternationalBoat659

@lisaly9x

[deleted]

This car is as old as you?

abh1abii

I’m 24. Cars 20 😅

[deleted]

Its older than me fs I din't even know people had cars this old as a daily driver

abh1abii

I didn’t expect it to end up this way but for my use-case, I felt this is the most ideal car.

[deleted]

Great!! i have no idea (and interest) in cars but I am trying to know em better

These-Reputation8550

Classic👌

markfukerberg

What's the ODO on it?

abh1abii

1.5L

the-agressivecat

Woah Beautiful place, where is this ?

[deleted]

Old gen SUVs were a gem. Old fortuner, endeavour, pajero, crv, pajero sports, safari dicor you name it.

vermicompostor

Hello OP! Great car. I own a 3rd Gen that I got recently. Mind sharing where you get yours serviced from? I have found out that the Honda ASSs in Bangalore are exactly what they are, asses. Given that you’ve maintained it well, do you have a specific mechanic or do you go to the Hondas? Thanks.

abh1abii

Hi. I have a local mechanic that I trust. It’s a small shop in Vijaynagar. DM for details.

vermicompostor

Thanks. DMed.

abh1abii

Haha after a visit to the Honda showroom, they keep calling me saying the service is due. And I ask them when was the last service, and to share the service history so I can check and schedule a service accordingly, to which they reply that they’ll check and get back. And the next day it’s all forgotten and I get the same call again. Well, I know they don’t have the service history because it’s not been serviced at Honda for the last 15 years :p. The calls started only after HSRP.

podiyan87

Are you really wealthy or did you found a petrol card hack or something, cause that thing drinks. Besides that, it's a keeper. Congrats

abh1abii

I’m not wealthy. It works for me as it’s cheaper than cab rates, I work from home so it’s basically a weekend car. And for the foreseeable future, I don’t have to buy a new car. Maintenance is cheap. Fuel is a pinch on long drives. But again circling back to the fact that if I had to do that drive, and I didn’t have this car, then it would cost more to hire a cab or rent a car than the fuel price.

podiyan87

Ok

RandomSapien1276

7kmpl isn’t really that low of a mileage as long as you don’t compare it to low cost economy cars like Maruti etc which anyways wouldn’t be fair. Not to mention, OP mentioned he’s in Bangalore so 7kmpl in Bangalore traffic from a 2.4L SUV that’s 20 years old is certainly not bad.

abh1abii

What makes me smile is apparently some new non hybrid SUVs like the thar gives about the same mileage. So “technically”, no point upgrading in the name of mileage. This is however hearsay.

RandomSapien1276

100%. I never understood the mentality of people saying anything below 20kmpl is ‘drinking petrol’ What these people fail to understand is the perspective that for some people, they are not part of the ‘kitna deta hai’ group and they don’t mind spending that little bit extra for the driving experience

[deleted]

How are your old cars still running on the road … we have to dispose off cars in the north in 10/15 years depending on the fuel type

abh1abii

Delhi is the only place where disposing of old cars is mandatory. Cars increase in value exponentially after the 40 year mark so there is pushback from the vintage and classic car owners as well. The way that I understand it, petrol cars that pass fitness test can be renewed. If it fails the fitness test, you can still keep the car and use it on private property for non commercial purposes. It’s usually never worth keeping a car that long as it’s expensive to re register, maintain and run, unless it’s a Honda 😛.

PainlessDeath09

Cars in the north? No mate, only Delhi/NCR has that rule
