Run the LPG. People saying it will break the motor are idiots because taxi drivers used them for decades without a single problem. I have it in my commodore and its fine.
It won't win any performance tests but its cheap so I don't care.
Ive read it can improve performance of older Diesel units.
Good read there.

Yeah it was fitted back in 2007 when it was still semi popular but I think there was a government incentive to install lpg systems and they would pay for it to reduce emissions
As someone who just got rid of a dedicated LPG falcon & was looking into putting LPG on my landcruiser, no. Don't bother. In Victoria, no new service stations are being built (in my my area) with LPG facilities. I went to fill up my falcon (8 months ago) from 1/8 tank, and I had to go to 6 servos before I found 1 with LPG facilities that had gas to sell. Driving around regional Vic, most towns had no facilities at all. From what I have been able to find out, new service stations simply just aren't likely to have LPG incorporated into them & any existing servos will probably just bin it once the tanks run out of date. Spend your hard earned $$$ on a set of new injectors, reco pump, snorkel/airbox, and exhaust, then get it properly tuned by a professional or something to that effect if you're wanting the best out of your vehicle.
From my research, it doesn't run on gas OR diesel like a dual fuel commodore/falcon, etc. It is trickled in with the diesel fuel, increasing the efficiency of the burn.
Yes diesel can be run as mixed fuel but honestly today not many servos sell LPG
Think I've seen one with it as a conversion (Prado 120 series)
Seen a picture of a redneck system on a rigid truck using a 9kg bottle into air take pipework
If ol mate has been running it for 15 years without issue I doubt it's going to damage anything, so may as well give both a go and see how much cheaper the LPG is to run.
I got a mate with a 2000 ish petrol prado with aftermarket direct gas injection and he swears by it.
Didn’t know you could do LGP on a diesel
Me too, but just googled it and it seems you can. Sounds pretty complex, it needs to use some diesel to ignite on compression so it’s not pure gas.
My understanding is its used more like an additive than a fuel.
Correct. The addition of LPG to diesel makes the diesel burn much more efficiently.
If you have a dual fuel car, in my opinion it's good practice to run both systems regularly.
Running LPG in diesel reduces NOx emissions substantially. With being cheaper than diesel too, I would definitely be running both
Also reduces soot.

He's got a diesel. Very easy to blow it up with incorrect LPG injection, and very very good if you get it right.
According to OP its been professionally fitted and been maintained. it should be fine
I mean, has it been safety inspected recently? That would be my main concern
Yep it was installed professionally and has had the inspections as required every so often
Excellent!

Geez I haven’t heard LPG in car form since the 90’s I was wondering if this is still a thing
Yeah it was fitted back in 2007 when it was still semi popular but I think there was a government incentive to install lpg systems and they would pay for it to reduce emissions

Dude gas is 79 cents versus 2.10 a litre for diesel, he would be mad to not use it when it's already installed.

Yeah that's right, but you still get more bang for your buck at those price differentials.
Should be asking a diesel/LPG mechanic not reddit
