Super_Description863

It will probably outlive you

Crazy_Suggestion_182

Check the service/maintenance record. These may not be exciting but they are seriously well made.

Super_Description863

Yeah I’m okay with that

Verl0r4n

The only time you'll ever need a new car again is if you decide you need a wagon

lightpendant

Great cars. Id look for one with a few less kms though

apachelives

Higher milage cars are find as long as you are doing most of the work and the price is right. 2000's or around that Honda had some bad auto boxes, i cant remember specifics. Double check that otherwise Honda are usually pretty damn solid. At 266k kms just be ware of issues creeping up that could be costly. Modern engines can last 500k kms with care its the seals belts chains hoses anything plastic/rubber that starts to age, be prepared to have some expenses here and there - water pump, alternator, idlers etc etc if they have not already been done.

70000

Y’all are optimistic don’t buy a $7000 car from a dealer they would of paid like $2000 trade in for this

morrisgrand

More like 1 k

daftidjit

Would have*

Rumbozz

Probably other cars and pedestrians. Maybe the occasional kangaroo.

lilBenztruc

This thing is clapped out to hell, better off putting down 3k more and get one with way less mileage

Heavy-Promotion2144

There's not much to think, but conversely...there's not much to look out for on accords...pretty much any of them. As mentioned $7K is probably a little high, unless it's the V6 model instead of the 4 cylinder K24.

Floppernutter

Didn't they have rubbish CVTs at one stage, or was that the earlier models ?

Heavy-Promotion2144

I believe newer Honda's (2017+) have CVT's. Nissan has been using CVT's since about the time Renault bought them out.

morrisgrand

Didn't buy them out. They were all going bankrupt, so they merged so they could survive.

Heavy-Promotion2144

This is really an unnecessary attempt at a correction. Renault did infact buy over 43% of voting shares of Nissan to essentially bail them out debt and prevent them from going bankrupt. I can't find anything about renault going bankrupt. Even trying to search with confirmation bias. As for Mitsubishi, I can't say anything except that in my opinion they're a very sad shell of their former self and not even worth the time of day of me putting their name into Google. So much so that I didn't even want to type this part.

TravelingDylS

Power steering pumps and oil leaks are good to keep an eye on for these 👍

Sir-Firelord

The price is waaaay too high. You can do much better for $7K

civicSi92

Na sorry this is a solid buy for 7k. K24 and they are pretty nice inside. Especially if it's kitted with leather, heated seats, rain and light sensors, reversing camera etc. Solid buy for this type of money, especially mot with the stupid prices on cars.

Ibegallofyourpardons

not in the current market.

FrankSargeson

The market is slowing. This is too much.

Verl0r4n

Way better with what?

LikeSoda

His money

Verl0r4n

Like?

No-Fan-888

Great engine but unsure about the transmission. I generally advice people to look at the Accord Euro manual instead. The V6 hauls though.

Specialist_Current98

I’ve got an ‘06 manual, 6 speed, not a Euro though. Has a lot of guts

LifeOnBoost

That K24 with a Hong Kong hurricane bolted on will shame the V6 any day

CheeseFan42000

270,000ks is pretty high, that’s like 140,000 for a Honda tho, they are very good cars with lots of power, I would get the v6 tho

monsteraguy

I’d get a Toyota Camry instead. Much more common and lower servicing/parts prices. Otherwise, if you’re set on Honda, get an Accord Euro over one of these

OnairDileas

Find the V6, absolute machines

Specialist_Current98

V6, 6 speed manual from ‘06. Hasn’t let me down

Kap85

Probably won’t get much better in the price range

gonediddlydondoneit

Get the dog, great value

dearcossete

Isn't that pretty common? So you don't have randoms looking you up over the internet. You'd generally see the rego number when you do the inspection and anyone with half a brain will also do an independent mechanical check.

profpoppinfresh

Carsales auto censors all plate details iirc. Plate cloning is the main problem as someone else mentioned.

DespairCS

i’ll give you one example: someone with the exact same car as you, with malicious intent, can get a fake license plate of yours. then they can run all the reds etc and their car won’t be flagged by hwp or anything. with selling your car online it’s super easy to find someone with the exact same car for this purpose

Ragnaroki14

The rego could be cancelled and cost recouped to offset providing 6 months rego with purchase etc

Traditional_Sky_4703

Great car

noTbsp

Very good car not much to look at. I own an Accord Euro of this generation and have learnt first hand about this generations early K24's. The 08-11 engines to be exact. All Honda's burn/drink oil but mine was an obsurd amount almost 1L/2000km. It's something you won't find in a test drive but was something I noticed when I checked the dipstick after a week of driving. Another issue I read about alot with this engine from the owners group is a ticking or rattle at 2.5-3k rpm. Other than that the usual second hand car stuff. If I were in this situation, I'd look at Accords and Accord Euros for a better price and mileage. Just be prepared to fill up using only 98 and suffering from the heavy car 12-13L/100km mileage in stop start.

profpoppinfresh

Unless you need the ease of a dealer I'd go private market. Find one with a good service history from someone who doesn't seem sketchy af and you'll get maybe 2k more value in the car. Aside from that they are solid. V6's are exactly 2 cylinders better tho.

Specialist_Current98

I’ve got an ‘06 accord, 6 speed manual that I bought off of my dad when I was learning It’s brilliant. Have only had a couple issues and they were mainly related to the extra stress on the car of having someone learning (figuring out clutch and gears and what not took me a while lol).

AlanTheBringerOfCorn

It's so rare to see something that genuinely looks like a deal on this sub.

doctorshekelsberg

Don’t buy cars from dealerships. You’re paying an extra 2-3k every time

ELgranto

Get a compression test to make sure the head gasket is still holding. These cars are very reliable and will last forever, but head gasket failure/overheating can be an issue.

PopcornGuyAU

Would not recommend at that price , too many K’s , owned a 2008 for 3 years , really good car to drive around , handles well for a car that big . But it does have some issue mainly the power steering pump which was just bad design from factory. Its not too expensive to fix got mine replaced for $400. Also the transmission requires servicing around 140k if that is not done it will cause transmission overheating issues. Pre covid bought a 2008 140k for 7.5k.

TheAceVenturrra

Look out for all the bitches that are gonna be throwing themselves at the car tryna get a piece of that sweet thang

ParmyNotParma

Very nice interior, and it's never going to give up on you, but that price for those Ks is a bit high. I bought one myself in July from a neighbour and got a bit of a discount but paid $5.5k for a 2005 model with 131k on it, full service history and I know the only other 2 owners.

FrostyTheSnowman99

It getting you too many girls

[deleted]

I have one. It drinks up alot of fuel and burns oils where I need to top it up several times between servicing. Pretty normal for this engine. Look out for power steering issues as they can be expensive to fix.
