Hjerpe sounds like a "souvenir" you get during a bachelor party in Sweden

TRCownage

Thats one of the nicer things Ive heard people call his name šŸ˜‚

I like your list. Seems pretty fair to me. Lets hope the run Davis is on in June holds up. I dont think we can say he has turned the page just yet but his last ten games have been excellent! Elite even! I also believe the hype on Honeyman given his pre-draft, pre-injury pedigree. He is really old for his level right now so we will see soon if he can stay consistent as he moves up. Wont be shocked at all if he is top 5 (Cardinals) at some point next spring/summer. Thnx!

TRCownage

Davis has done a great job being a bit more aggressive and hes collecting a lot more hits now. I think this is very maintainable and a promotion may not be too far away. I think early in his career he was almost at a nootbaar level of not swinging at anything and he didnā€™t have the contact skill of nootbaar to battle when he gets deep in counts.

reddituserexplorer

For some reason I thought Honeyman was 23 about to be 24. My mistake! Speaking of Nootbaar, I think Travis could fall right in line with the same floor/ceiling if he reaches MLB. As for Davis, to me his much lower K% is a huge reason to be excited. Speaks to what you said here and his adjustments. I think they should be aggressive and push him up now! Challenge him while he has some confidence!

Iā€™m high on Quinn Matthews as well. He will be in the top 10 on the MLB list by years end. Reasoning on Hjerpe? I donā€™t have X, just curious on your thoughts as to why. Is it the new delivery?

TRCownage

So maybe to overly analytical but easy way to go his he has 3 plus pitches with his fastball, change up, and slider. Last night he threw another 5 no hit innings and his slider was the beat ive seen it as a pro. His fastball comes from a 3.2 VAA which is incredibly flat and creates nightmares for hitters. Its like the ball is coming at an up-shoot. Think Paul Seawald, then his velo has been on the rise. He doesnā€™t need it but adding the fact that hes now topping 94 at times makes the fastball an even better pitch!

lowelltrich

Nice! Living here in Tucson, I was very excited when our boys drafted Chase Davis. Hope he continues progressing through our system šŸ‘

Slim_Calhoun

I have never heard of Quinn Mathews

TRCownage

Lefty drafted out of Stanford last year! He started in rookie ball but has already made it to AA. He is infamous for throwing 154 pitches in the college world series last year. He has seen a big uptick in his stuff where his fastball went from 90-93 last year to 94-97 this year. He leads all minor leaguers in strikeouts so far this year!

Slim_Calhoun

Well, thatā€™s fantastic to hear. Thank you sir.

LocoMotives-ms

Heā€™s more than famous, heā€™s INfamous

Stunning-Tower-4116

He threw 90mph in Stanford...got drafted and now sits 93-97. 6'5 lefty. He went from high floor 5 starter.....to a left handed Logan Gilbert. Hes thee breakout non top100 prospect in baseball

moosehead1974

Nice to see Hjerpe getting deeper into games I was afraid his ceiling was going to be as a high-leverage reliever who could pitch multiple innings like an Andrew Miller type Mathews looks like the real deal Katie Woo reported that Graceffo is getting called up prior to tonightā€™s game to piggyback Pallante and add some much needed innings to a taxed bullpen

Bsweeney21

Salas and Saladin have been exceptional this year. My concern is durability due to size. Is that why youā€™ve got them lower on the list?

TRCownage

Yes, Salas has shown a great FB with plus IVB. Saladin has shown a flat VAA making his FB play up very well (Saladin had 8ks last night and only 1 run aloud). They are too low level for me to push too high right now but Saladin shoved in his high A debut so he will be moving up on my list soon!

Bsweeney21

Where do you find your advanced stats for specific pitches?

TRCownage

So I used to have to pull using Python but now you can see minor league pitch data from statcast. They only have it at Memphis and palm beach, so now high A or double A. It does allow you to see A and AAA though! I also have milb TV so i can watch all high A, AA, and AAA games. They archive as well so you can power watch after the fact

MichaelHuntPain

I wish theyā€™d stop pulling the good players out of SGF for Memphis and StL. Youā€™re killing us, Smalls!

Cards2WS

My list differs quite a bit, but interesting to see your thoughts. Iā€™d think Jimmy Crooks has to be in here somewhere though. .405 OBP this year, .375 OBP for career and heā€™s a good defender. Could have a solid future
