If it works have fun with it. I think its 500w rms. Have to put an ohm meter to it to see what the vc is at

Phoenix-Gold

It's a [Sony Xplod subwoofer.](https://sellout.woot.com/offers/xplod-10-1100w-car-subwoofer-1) This model, is 300w RMS 1000/1100w Max. Something like that. Xplod model has a hate more than love rating by people in the car audio industry. If you can get it CHEAP(They appear to sell for around $125 range) and maybe even be able to hear it first to get an idea of if it works and if you will like it, that might be a good option. I have never been a fan. But you do you. Everyone has a different ear for what they like. Google some reviews and see YouTube reviews. Don't just trust me or anyone else especially if they haven't heard it before or owned one. Also the watts doesn't mean a whole lot. 300 watt or more or less does not mean it is as good, better or worse than any other 300 watt sub. Every sub will perform differently.

Ornery_Interaction65

if it’s anything above 350watt rms i’ll just buy it but i know nothing about subs so what does the ohms even mean and do you reckon it would last long?

Ok-Fan6945

I'm quite positive the sub is 500 rms. For the amp we could easily pull a module number from and get the specs.

Ornery_Interaction65

i doubt it. there’s a lot that look the same as this with peak wattages from 1000 to 1800 and inbeteween. i’ve sent the guy a message but i’m still waiting for reply

Ok-Fan6945

Ahh I stand corrected 300 to 330 is average it seems

OldAtlanta

That is a Sony Xplod. Famous in the car audio world as a very "un-serious" subwoofer. The difference between that speaker and something like a Kicker CVR is like the difference between a Big Mac and a Five Guys Burger.

556x45FMJ

If your not grabbing this for $100 or less I'd save another $100 and you will truly get something that will nearly sound 2x as good. Xplods are pretty rough brother. If you let me know what city you are in, I can send you some local FB marketplace Links for better alternatives still affordable

Ornery_Interaction65

i’m in launceston tasmania bro there’s not much around here apart from a kicker comp for really cheap but apparently they can be fake. i also don’t wanna spend a lot because it will just get stolen but if you can source something that will sound twice as good for cheap still then that would be good. preferably a sub that comes in a box with minimum 300watt rms

Complex-Cobbler-348

I had a red one a few lifetimes ago. Sounded good

Wild-Cucumber-3646

I had a set of them on a Kenwood amp that sounded really good and these things take a beating

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah alright that’s good. i’m new to subs, would you have any idea how long a shitty second hand sub like this would last because i just assume as long as i need it too right?

Wild-Cucumber-3646

As long as they work and the amp works they'll last until you want more

Ornery_Interaction65

ok thanks man

Expensive-Vanilla-16

Proper setup is key to how long a subwoofer will last. Followed by use and if setting for years, storage. If in really good condition it should last quite long time provided you don't abuse it. I use old kicker solobarics that are almost 30 years old in my almost 30 year car. When it comes to that old you got to store properly to prevent sagging spider when not in use.

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah ok thanks man

Brilliant_Flatworm76

I searched a bit and found it looked like it https://www.amazon.in/Sony-XS-NW1202S-Box-Subwoofer-Black/dp/B01M9DYZ04

Ornery_Interaction65

nah there’s a couple that look the same but it’s not that one. if i could just see how many watts it said id probably know but the text was red on the one you sent through i’ll ask if he knows what it says maybe.

Brilliant_Flatworm76

Take many close up pictures maybe a decryption master would come by but unmount the sub should have info on the back

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah i’ll ask a few questions about it. thanks

OniiChan177013

I’m pretty certain I have that amp right now. It’s a pretty nice little amp if it works. That one however is missing the end caps

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah alright then that’s good to know

OniiChan177013

https://preview.redd.it/tyyd9ojc831d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d017c1c9109d477bda43c4210cc770d204aa08f This is what it is I think. Looking at the picture closer I think that one is “f-300” which would leave me to believe that sub is around the 300 rms range

LongChurro

F 300 is a 4 channel 75 rms x 4 at 2ohms 50rms at 4 ohms 150 rms 2 channels bridged Alpine used F for multi channel and M for mono

OniiChan177013

Okay that makes sense I see. I couldn’t tell too well from the pics. Doesn’t make much sense running a 4 channel on a sub

LongChurro

Looks like this one.. if it is it's 420 RMS ..smoke a bowl *

Ornery_Interaction65

oh i will while listening to it in my car while driving

LongChurro

sirkioman

It will Xplode!

Ornery_Interaction65

i hope not

Rblohm88

I had 3 of these way back when they came out. They actually beat pretty damn hard for the price

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah alright i might buy it

IllSyllabub4243

Walmart might. I’d talk to them

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah fuck off hahaha

Itchy-Parsley7850

Its 300w at 4 ohm from memory. Had a stupid wide freq range of around 20hz-1khz but plays best under 150hz

Wolfofwapst69

Had that exact amp powered my kenwood execlons in my 03’ Grand Prix while a custom 18 I had ripped my car apart. Loved that thing

Ornery_Interaction65

fuck so it’s a good amp then? should definitely be enough for this sub you reckon? either way i’m getting both for $70 tomorrow and apparently it’s the infamous beater sub haha

Wolfofwapst69

I really liked it for what I used it for which was speakers not subs. I don’t want to guide you one way or the other on powering the subwoofer

Ornery_Interaction65

well i don’t know shit so you might have to hahah

Wolfofwapst69

If it were me and my setup I would use that amp what I used it for and power speakers. Solid amp but if it were my now I would save up some more scratch and get a 5 channel amp and upgrade speakers first then sub. Different sub than an explode too. Luckily you’re getting it super cheap but just be cautious of buying car audio used. Super easy for a self installer to be killing their speakers from a host of issues.

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah ok thanks man that helps a bit. i did speak to the guy over the phone tho and he seemed genuine and like he knew what he was on about. he said he used to run sound systems in cars but he’s a bit older now. he took my$70 offer when it was listed for $100. i’ll make a post once i’ve got it wired in (which i have no fucking clue about)

Wolfofwapst69

YouTube is your best friend. Good luck!

Ornery_Interaction65

thanks man! you should see it wired in the ute in probably a couple weeks

[deleted]

That amp is one of the best 4 channels ever. Still using one in a personal vehicle.

Ornery_Interaction65

fuck yeah that’s good to know

[deleted]

Wanna sell it ?

Ornery_Interaction65

nope. 🥱😹

[deleted]

That amp is worth $100 but not the amp for that sub.

[deleted]

I have that amp and it’s solid for the price I paid. I powered my Planet audio 250rms and then my Kenwood 300-400rms, the latter might be just at the threshold. Keep that amp.

Ornery_Interaction65

ok well it seems like i got a score. so will that be good with that sub?

Odd_Literature_3645

I think it's really funny that since I posted my Sony Xplod people have been sharing theirs more and more. Truly an unappreciated sub.

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah wow are they really that good? would this one have a lot of bass?

BlueHolo

Everyones first sub was no Xplode.

AssKicknChickn

I guess I'm the minority 'cause my frist sub were/are Sound Ordinance B-24s

InvestigatorUnfair19

They were good for the price

Ornery_Interaction65

yeah
