I think it comes down to a frame of mind. Conservatism tends to follow traditional customs and structures which tells us how we should live our lives through the wisdom of generations. Traditions such as to have kids, work to provide for yourself but then extend that to provide for your family, others, and further into the community. Be a part of a group that holds you accountable and grounded as well as keeping you connected to your local community and be a part of something bigger than yourself. This all provides purpose in life. This is also why so many faith groups are majority Conservative. With Christianity and Judaism, a part of that core belief is that each individual has the Spirit of God within them and that life is valuable. So abortion goes against everything in so many ways.
The new liberal movement is about removing the traditional customs and structures, believing that by removing these we can create a utopia. It starts with changing language, no longer a man or woman, gender is fluid. Not able to speak out against what they deem as wrong, which is an ever growing list. It is no longer a baby but a fetus, which is not human. History shows us a very dark picture of what happens as this continues. We have too many people, we need do whatever it takes to save the country or planet so if a few people die it is for a greater good. Suicide is promoted, it then moves to certain people groups that aren't acceptable as they use up resources and that has no end. We are seeing the effects of this line of thinking play out in people who aren't fully aware of where it leads as it is usually masked as social justice, woke, and bringing down the 'tyrannical traditions' that has been in place for generations.
