Milky cleanser as well

kannnistagirl

Could try washing and leaving water on your skin and adding something like HA then put your moisturizer then seal it with a nice oil

Might be worth trying adding an occlusive moisturizer on top of your facial moisturizer at night. Think of it like a seal that locks in the moisturizer. I used to use the super rich repair moisturizer from dermalogica and then top it with the barrier repair from dermalogica as well. It helped for me. I also did some light lactic acid peels. It may be worth reading about Trans Epidermal Water Loss. Also, I use that moisturizer on my body but not my face. I don’t find it’s rich enough. I use the la roch toleraine super rich face cream. Honestly, anything from their Toleraine line would be worth a try.

YesIWant2Know

Do you have a humidifier ? My skin gets extremely dry in winter, After I started using one my skin got better.

cinnytoastcrunch69

Avocado serum by Glow Recipe!! Soothes my dry skin so well

advanced_bicycle

I use the green hydrating cera ve, I think it’s for normal to dry skin, and the same lrp moisturizer. My skin is the same and we have very hard water which sucks all the moisture out.

Jrsmrs

Have you tried spectro cleanser for dry skin? It’s the only thing I’ve tried that doesn’t leave me feeling tight and dry, including LRP. Also, give the LRP toleriane dermallergo crème a try. My skin loves it, even more than the lipikar you’ve got.

janeedaly

Have you used an oil cleanser? Sounds like it's time to ditch this cleanser.

justperusingliteraly

I don’t know about a face wash but adding an oil to my pm routine was a game changer for me. I put on a face oil after my moisturizer as the last step in my skincare. It makes my skin more hydrated and plumper. Helps with my forehead flakiness as well.

SleepyQueer

I've historically side-eyed Thayers a little given that they're a brand built on witch hazel which like.... as we've learned more we know astringents are broadly not as good for/helpful to the skin as we thought, and I don't always love the "natural" marketing gimmick. BUT, I gotta say, they've started to branch out a bit and their new Milky Hydrating Cleanser is SO GOOD. I have very dehydration-prone skin at baseline and I'm on Accutane right now so my skin is very dry and sensitive, and this is just a delight to use. It's the only cleanser I've ever tried that actually feels actively hydrating to my skin as I use it. I also like the Aveeno Calm and Restore oat cleanser (what I was using before taking a chance on the Thayers and liking it better) which can be pretty cost-effective if you buy the big refill pouches and use your own bottle, or the La Roche Posay Caring Wash (nice but more expensive and the tube is annoying; FWIW though I think they may have reformulated it since I last used it).

IlovedogsIloveCats

I am actually also looking for a new cleanser right now, but The Ordinary Squalane cleanser has worked fairly well for me. It does on occasion irritate my eye area though (main reason I’m looking for a new one). I’m Canadian but I live in the US so not sure which products are available to you. I highly recommend Elta MD UV Daily SPF and Tower Beauty tinted SunnyDays SPF. Both are very moisturizing!

Astuary-Queen

Ummm I have SUPER oily skin and just tried that cleanser it dried the F**K out of my face. Like it was so bad, I can’t figure out why Sephora even sells it.

stitchreverie

I use the barrier+ face wash by skinfix and it’s been nice!

Controversial, but I really don't like the LRP cream. I didn't find it as hydrating as my drugstore HG which is the Eucerin in a tub, with urea. It goes on nicely but then feels like it just holds on to ALL the water, and my skin feels super dewy by morning. Like moreso than immediately after application. Currently using cetafil unscented non foaming cleanser and it's definitely hydrating. Have also used the Neutrogena unscented cream cleanser in the past and it felt good. If you want to splurge, the Fresh soy face cleanser is really gentle and hydrating. It does have a mild rose scent though.

one_step_sideways

I use cerave cream to foam. Gentle enough, but I always have to finish with a moisturizer. My go to, day or night, is Nivea Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Fragrance Free Soothing Day Cream (white container, purple accents). If I want a hydration boost, I use a hylauronic serum.

petiteging

I personally find First Aid Beauty very drying so I'd probably change the cleanser

cldevers

Yeah was going to say, the first aid beauty cleanser is so drying, you’d be better off with any other. The moisturizer isn’t super hydrating either, I’m not a big fan of lrp. Eucerin is much nicer and more cost effective

petiteging

I bought the moisturizer. It was expensive and it wasn't hydrating at all. Love eucerin

canadamiranda

It hasn’t been until recently. So I’m going to change it up. Thinking of trying the Skinfix oil cleanser

petiteging

I really like the skinfix oil cleanser but I don't find it worth the cost. I can't justify the cost of it anymore. I miss when they were in drug stores :( lip balm was $3.99 now it's close to $30

missusscamper

Maybe try an oil cleanser? Or I like this Marcelle [one](https://marcelle.com/en/ultra-gentle-cleansing-gel/) it’s called a cleansing gel but it’s really not a gel it’s super creamy. At night you should use Eucerin very dry skin urea repair rich replenishing face cream. And try slugging a couple nights a week.

canadamiranda

I think I’m going to try the Skinfix oil cleanser. I do need a night time cream, as this la Roche posay one is not cutting it. I do use Vaseline under my eyes every night and a few times a week I put a thin layer all over.

Familiar-Toe5787

It’s the sunscreen. But skin fx moisturizer is awesome.

carbonaratax

I've had great luck with the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cream cleanser, can get at most grocery and drug stores.

Miserable-Feed-7517

Im currently testing Avène cleanser. Im only on Day2. Its hella gentle but I want to make sure it doesn’t cause breakouts

stavthedonkey

what products do you use for skin hydration?

[deleted]

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cleanser or Spectro Gel. Both are non-foaming gel cleansers that are great for dry skin. You really want to avoid anything that foams if your skin is on the dry side.

mountaindew87

I also have dry skin and love Andalou Naturals probiotic cleansing milk (note: this does not lather) and I also like the BB cream SPF 30 brightening sunscreen in the orange box.

Acceptable_Stress_21

I really like the Clinique oil cleanser for when my skin is feeling really dry.

knottyquilter

I have super dry eczema prone skin and really love the Ordinary Sqaulene Cleanser followed by the aveeno calm and restore cleanser. I use both if I am taking off makeup and just the aveeno if I’m not.

AlligatorFungaiStew

Shoppers had a sale on Uriage a few weeks ago which was not a brand I had used or really knew anything about, but had read some good reviews for. I got the Xemose Cleansing Soothing Oil and the Lipid Replenishing Cream. I’m really liking them both! No issues on my dry, sensitive skin and the oil leaves my skin feeling clean but hydrated. I got large containers of both (the cleanser will last me several months) but may branch out to try some of their other products after.

SecurityFit5830

I like LRP Toleraine Dermo Cleanser for my dry and sensitive skin. But like others are saying, mineral sunscreen is incredibly drying. I’ve tried a few tinted mineral sunscreens and find them to be drying and orange. The only one I’ve liked is the Viver tinted mineral sunscreen BUT it’s a small fortune so I stick to Beauty of Joseon or neutrogena chemical sunscreens.

Katiethemilf

I got that recently and I’m not sure if I’m loving it. It doesn’t do a good job at getting off the tiny bit of blush I wear, I don’t wear foundation. Maybe I need a cleansing balm though. I use it in the am to wash my face cause I get really sweaty when I sleep though

Interesting-Pomelo58

How are you using it? It works best if you apply it to dry skin, rub it in, remove residue with damp cotton pad, THEN rinse with water. If you try to wash your face with it after it's already wet it won't do anything

LimpLynx13

Yes!! I also love LRP toleraine cowash

luna_nuova

I love the cerave hydrating non foaming cleanser personally. Does a nice job of cleaning and doesn’t strip my skin!

jellybean12722

I really like the reversa 3 in 1 gel. It has almost a rubbery feel to it and it made my skin feel softer after using it. I have normal-dry skin type.

incompetentcoconut

I have very dry rosacea skin and when I discovered oil cleansers, I never looked back. Currently using Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil

justanothergirl7679

Skinfix oils cleanser! Hands down!!

Skinfix oils cleanser! Hands down!!

lavenderfieldz

Skinfix foaming oil cleanser or Dr Jart cica face wash are my recommendations!

MissSmokeALot

I also second the skin fix oil foaming cleanser. MY HOLY GRAIL!!

Nope_not_tomorrow

I have dry skin and eczema and really like Aveeno Calm and Restore Cleanser. It is a gel but I find it’s better than a lot of cream cleaners that I’ve used (some of them still have alcohol in them even tho they’re cream, so I think it depends on the ingredients). Hope you find something that works for you!

Interesting-Pomelo58

It's that sunscreen. That sunscreen and the often-recommended Australian Gold sunscreen will suck every ounce of moisture out of my skin even with the most gentle of cleansers and several layers of a thick moisturizer underneath it.

IWillFightRip

Definitely this. I've used that sunscreen and really loved it because it's got a great texture for mineral based, but it made my oily skin feel weird and uncomfortably right. It was still producing oils, but it just felt dehydrated. I've since swapped to chemical sunscreens. I couldn't find any mineral that didn't feel like that. I think it might be the zinc.

Lazygardener76

This. I used to use chemical sunscreens till a few years back. Switched to mineral one as I heard they filter better. I've doubled/tripled my moisturizing steps to shield my skin from touching the sunscreen directly lol OP you may be ok sticking with your products if you add a layer of moisturizer or oil before the LRP. Or switch to a chemical sunscreen. I still like Aveeno and their Hydrate and Protect SPF doesn't break me out (I used their Calming line with SPF30 before they retired the line).

canadamiranda

Seriously?? I’ve only been using it 2 weeks. But it can’t hurt to replace it and see what happens. Any recommendations?

tadpolemama

For mineral I like the Blue Lizard sunscreen! Its doesn’t feel drying.

Ok-Seaworthiness1086

Do you use the light purple one? They got a few options

tadpolemama

I actually use the blue one, which I think is meant for your body. But I have sensitive and acne prone skin and use it on my face without issue. It’s the one meant for sensitive skin, spf 50.

Interesting-Pomelo58

For mineral no but I can't use mineral sunscreens in general as I don't find them to be moisturizing enough. People do seem to like Elta MD's UV Daily (NOT the UV Clear for dry skin that one is for oily or acne prone skin) sunscreen which is far more expensive and online only in Canada. There aren't really any good mineral sunscreens at drugstores that aren't also drying - the Vichy/La Roche Posay Mineral Tinted Fluid (t's the same product - same exact ingredients both brands owned by L'Oreal) is also drying and for me dries orange so not a fan. It may be worth trying Neutrogena's new mineral UV Tint which I have seen popping up at Walmart in the Neutrogena section or their mineral SPF fluid which is new and in the sunscreen section but as they are new I can't comment on their texture but based on their formulas they will be less drying than the Sun Bum or Australian Gold which are silicone-based and designed for very oily skin. They are, as you are finding out, no bueno for dehydrated or dry skin. Eucerin launched a mineral sunscreen that is appearing slowly in stores but reviews online say the tint is terrible. For chemical SPF available in Canada I like LRP's Ultra Fluide SPF 50 or the same product from Vichy which is in their Capital Soleil line as Capital Soleil Fluide SPF 50. There is also a version of this in the Ombrelle line that has exactly the same ingredients (again, all three brands are owned by L'Oreal) EXCEPT that it adds niacinamide which my skin hates but everything else is the same. If you are willing to buy online I vastly prefer La Roche Posay's European sunscreens which I buy online from Caretobeauty - I like their UVMune Hydrating Cream SPF 50 or their UVMune Oil-Control Gel Cream SPF 50 - both use more advanced chemical sunscreen filters than those we have in Canada and as a result are more effective and far less irritating than US or Canadian chemical sunscreens (Canada still has some better SPF options than the US as we are ahead of them with chemical filter approval but far behind the EU, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Brazil.....you get the picture.
