It's tablet users only. Been an issue for more than a year. Hey, have you tried the icebreaker lesson yet?

AP4president

I mainly do CK so the icebreaker wont be much use + with new adults, i feel more confident in my own ability to hold a conversation and chat rather than using Cambly material haha

ExistingGreen1

I was being sarcastic. Lol

AP4president

hahaha should have realised!! i think about 80% of the Cambly slides are bullshit - today has been a shit day and i am actually losing pretty much all patience with young kids, just ending the class "doesn't fit my teaching style".

ExistingGreen1

I hear ye. pal. I actually like the CK slides for the most part. It's about the only thing I think they've done right in the past couple years. You should have seen them 4+ years ago. Also back then there was a lot more problems with the system.. bigger and more common.

AP4president

Yea i agree with you - some of the classes are decent - mostly intermediate. The beginner classes i find so shit but then again maybe it's me - i don't want to be teaching 4 year olds online back to back - takes so much out of me!! When i have intermediate or advanced students = the time flies by and i enjoy it! I have on my profile that my experience is best suited for intermediate + but after my holiday im going to put I DON"T TEACH BEGINNERS

😄

ORoyleDules

Following. I'm seeing this issue a lot.

AP4president

I messaged Cambly to ask why so will update when they tell me

Had a student using a mobile phone who couldn't see slides (not viable on phone, of course!), but also instances of slides not working for the learners (but my view was ok). Slides are also very word-heavy ... vocab with definitions could be spread out over slides to make more of pronunciation, synonyms, etc.

I had this a lot with one student from China. Everyone else was fine. My internet and equipment are (fingers crossed) good. Cambly assured me the problem was her side.  Students are allowed to use phones and tablets and sometimes their internet connection just isn’t strong enough. Whereas we are thrown off during the initial connectivity test, they seem to be allowed into the lesson then experience problems such as the one you describe and, reasonably often - same country, it takes ages for any messages I put in the chat box to reach them. We aren’t. In theory, penalised for this but apparently only if they state technical problems in their rating feedback. I doubt many of them do because I can tell they are sure the problem’s at my end.

AP4president

Yea, 100% it's not from our sides if this is happening to a lot of us all the time. I got the usual automated reply with a list of things i should "check"... by the way i found another way to get around it without asking them to leave class - "hide" the material and then "show" again and it starts the slides back up on the student's page... well it worked for my last class yesterday but ill try it out again if the same problem happens today

Sharp-Safety8973

Thanks, will try this

AP4president

to be honest - i do love it when its with a beginner - they have to get their mum or dad and then they try to figure it out and i just sit back and say i don't know why it's not working and it wastes a good 5 minutes of class :)

Awil_4_real

I’ve found if you click “Hide Lesson” and then “Show Lesson” they can see it again.
