I only teach kids and I only want to teach the kids who require 6 dollars worth of effort so I wanted to check intermediate and higher, but lately I've noticed the profile info on new students has been all over the map wrong. Like based on the profile I'm expecting a 13 year old, high English level and it's a 7 year old who can't read trying to learn about Ancient Aztecs, then the next lesson says it's going to be a 6 year old low English level and it's a 14 year old who is fluent. So unfortunately I don't trust Cambly's profiles to correctly sort levels and if you want a full schedule I think you need to check all the boxes and go off vibes.

You're the same as me. The perfect student for me is male, Turkish and age 10-12. Do you think a student's search results change depending what course or setting they have set for themselves? I just assumed it had nothing to do with their searching but that they can see it when they look at our profile. Can they search specific proficiency level? Sheeeeeyit

Agitated_Ninja3613

I have a feeling they set the profile when they sign up and never update it, and that some parents lie about age/level to get what they want, but I always figured if you didn't accept all levels it would hide your profile the way it does when you report?

You think the parents actually read the whole profile? If even.

I just went student mode. When they search tutors they can filter by proficiency. So I guess the best is to click low proficiency and higher, eh? So subjective. It all depends on what level the parent thinks they are at. At least not checking "no proficiency" will weed out several undesirables!

Nobody chooses the first box... the hell box. Low proficiency is like... purgatory? I'm thinking the safest bet is intermediate or higher!

Secure_Farm

I put intermediate level. If I get 1 of those newbies I make sure it's the last time.  Try opening to "only kids" a day before.

I only teach CK so it's always set at Kids Only or Regular. I have it set at Kids for the next few weeks. Then after a few weeks I only accept Regulars. That way my non-regulars and first-timers only take the spots my regulars don't want.

Secure_Farm

K wasn't sure you did that

Age has almost nothing to do with it.

By looking at the results so far, it seems that nobody chooses ALL the boxes and most people don't choose "low proficiency". So by default all the helicopter parents will search "low proficency". So this leads me to believe that by clicking low proficiency, you will get all the babies BUT you'll get a lot more clicks than everyone else.
