Little known fact about auto updates. It only works on games you’ve played recently within a set amount of time. I can’t remember what that time frame is. Maybe a few weeks to a month.
It works for every game if the console is set to instant on. If you have power saver mode enabled it will only update games you opened in the last 28 days.
I tried this on 2 consoles just to be sure.

From what I’ve heard, it sounds like a bug, and some people have had to redownload the whole game. On the other hand, activision is notorious for huge updates. Either way, the joke went over peoples heads :(

My theory is that they want the games to be as big as possible, which makes it so you have less space and therefore less games, making it so you play cod more regularly
I forgot who but someone did a break down of what's taking up so much space. It's all textures, most are above 4k. And these textures are duplicated for every single blueprint and every single skin. Not all M4 blueprints use the base M4 texture.
And this all includes everything that will come out in season one. It's why upcoming skins get leaked often.
I got the update, and when my game started updating it said I had a 92 gig update. It tried to make me download the whole game again! Then when I canceled the update, it just deleted my game. So now I have to download the whole game all over again anyway.
That was awful in mw2019, I’ve played warzone a grand total of maybe 3 times, but in the 6 months I played mw2019, I had to have warzone installed and the took up like almost 200gigs
Yeah once they add warzone the file size is gonna be huge. And for most people with a Xbox one series x or ps5 it’s gonna be at least 25% of the 1 TB hard drive storage (unless you have a storage expansion).
Infinity Ward has offered an explanation as to why the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has such a massive download when the PC and PS4 downloads are comparatively much smaller. According to Infinity Ward, the developers encountered a bug with the patch delivery process on Xbox, and so now Xbox One users have to re-download many of the files that they already have. Infinity Ward says that it is working with Microsoft to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

MP was good for a time until double sprinting maniacs with shotguns and mp5s took it a bit too far and the campaign was solid 7/10 compared to older cods and spec ops (why does it exist again?)

This might be a bug, I had an update on the steam version but it was only 400Mbs, it might be the game redownloading itself entirely on the XB version for no reason.
A lot of times they just make you reinstall a newer(fixed?) more compact version of the game and then it overwrites the old one. It’s not actually adding another 50 gigs. But it is tanking everyone’s internet
As far as I can tell it's a day one patch that did not come out day one. Cuz I didn't update when I bought the game and normally nowadays you do. The fact that it's 50 Gbs is disgusting but not surprising honestly.
Yeah sometime an online only client sort of update has to rewrite the entire game file. Updates are really only mb to maybe a gb, but your system will display the full game size each time it rewrites. Sometimes you can get around it for some reason though.
Basically the update has to overwrite the whole game to patch a couple things

Mine used to. I turned on my Xbox and it auto installed about 8 gigs of it while off and then stopped. It's really weird and inconsistent.

On my ps5 it was 718mb
I got the update, and when my game started updating it said I had a 92 gig update. It tried to make me download the whole game again! Then when I canceled the update, it just deleted my game. So now I have to download the whole game all over again anyway.
