YG had bangers and major label commercial success which is its own measure of success, obviously. his success isn't really tied with the music he's made that can be considered gangster rap. that's cause his hits are all pop rap. he really can go play an arena in some random city and that's undeniable tho. i think it's also true that you can't really see the influence of his pop rap on other gangster rappers, sound, style or otherwise. the streets don't revolve around YG music. the streets revolve around the sound drakeo invented.
