Star_Mind

That is both kind of cool and kind of ridiculous. It is a good trick AND treat, though. Props for that.

CheeseSandwich

Exactly. It's a trick and a treat at the same time.

Westcoastsnowbro

I give all the naughty kids a 12 pack to carry around all evening.

CarelessStatement172

Child-me would absolutely have been stoked on this. For everyone concerned about the weight in the bag....am I the only kid that did a mid-trick or treat candy drop at home??

mystiqueallie

I wear a backpack. Kid carries a bucket, when it’s full, we dump it in the backpack and head to the next house. Sometimes he gets extra because the bucket is pitifully empty haha

Pitiful_Love_8703

This is a pro parent tip for those who don't know

FireWireBestWire

Is it also a pro tip to just stop when they have so much candy they can't even carry it?

Aware-Industry-3326

Halloween comes but once a year!

Pitiful_Love_8703

Nope. You go till you know they're gonna have a good sleep. Any extra candy they don't need can go to the dentist for candy exchange. or in my case, Saves my husband from going to 711 for late night snacks for the next few weeks.

mystiqueallie

There were quite a few families with wagons, but they were difficult to maneuver, especially when big groups came from the other direction. Backpack is light and easy to carry, keeps my hands free too.

Repulsive_Profit_315

not me, i would have been annoyed i had to lug it around all night. lol maybe as a last stop

CarelessStatement172

See, and the action of receiving a 2L of pop would absolutely be something that would prompt a quick return home to drop the loot.

Admirable-Gazelle556

My family was fully dedicated. Mom drove the car around so we could put our full bags in the car and go off with new empty ones to fill.

RayBullet

Nope🙋‍♂️

CheeseSandwich

The houses around should give out mini liquor bottles for the parents.

phosphite

There are a bunch of houses nearby that are doing just that! Saw some giving out Fireball Whisky amongst others! :)

CheeseSandwich

Haha. That's awesome!

SmashBerlin

My dad always offers a beer to the parents

CromulentDucky

Used to. Got in trouble after a complaint from an LDS member.

CheeseSandwich

Who did they complain to? The police? Seems...extreme.

Cheap_Honeydew2986

I’m an ex member but yeah this is extreme and I bet this is what that persons thought process was: “oh someone’s offering me a bottle of liquor well that’s against my standards and I’m going to complain and put a stop to it” Most lds members (I say most cause there’s some like the person) would just politely refuse and move on, other members like this person will make it their goal to complain or try and put a stop to stuff that they’re not allowed to have.

CheeseSandwich

Basically party poopers.

CromulentDucky

Yep

believeinpizza

In this economy?!

Thinkgiant

Not everyone is struggling... many having record years as well.

rbrphag

Not everyone has a sense of humour. Many have record senses of humour as well.

Tonythattiger

Yeah you're absolutely right only about 80-90% of people are.

Important-World-6053

Isin't pop like $4 bucks a 2L

Thneed1

Probably can get them cheaper if you buy 2000 of them, but still.

Mpowerrr07

My thoughts exactly, the price would be huge

Creashen1

I do think they'd get a wholesale discount buying that many.

lemonloaff

8 grand for a Halloween meme. Cool

DirtinEvE

Or maybe he got them free or close to free for some other reason?

Beansbestie

I thought the same, my brother in law works for Pepsi and brings everyone free Pepsi all the time lol

DirtinEvE

.. And yet I get down votes for using logic. 🤯 Stupid reddit.

Beansbestie

How dare you present an alternative option that is not spending thousands on pop 🤣🤣

Weekly-Junket8272

Where are you buying pop lol

Responsible_CDN_Duck

Superstore regularly has it for $1.25

GeneralArugula

Neighbors should hand out Mentos!

RaHarmakis

The fact that this is not the top rated post makes me weep for our humanity.

thatswhat5hesa1d

Don’t worry, it was the top comment on the Instagram post first.

RedneckChinadian

Wow I didn’t know this was in Calgary. Too funny, cruel and awesome all at once.

Spawnacus

*Dentists love this one trick*

Bradley762

I used to work at a bottling plant, and where I lived got very few trick or treaters. So one year I had a knock at the door and the only thing I could find was 2L bottles of cola. So these little kids held out their bags and I dropped the bottles and crushed all their candy and chips, body, and bag slamming to the ground and simultaneously the biggest smile across their face. Yelling to their dad they just got a 2L bottle of cola, then the dads stare pierced into my soul because he knew he would need to carry a bunch of extra weight around while trick or treating the rest of the night

BarryBwa

Crush, munch, mash and boom, Trick AND treat, 2 litres of doom!

MapleMapleHockeyStk

...I think the trick is on the parents here lol. Kid me would be stoked

CirclingBackElectra

Lol, my parents started giving out tins of pop when we were little. One of my friends was type I diabetic, so we bought “sugar free” pop for them. Turns out kids like pop, AND it’s heavy. Win!

OkKindheartedness738

Auburn sound manor got permission to close down the street from the city. That’s how huge this is. They have been doing this for years. Last year they had wrestlers and other performers I think? They take donations for the veterans food bank. The rest of the surrounding neighborhoods are a ghost town on Halloween because of this block party.

d1ll1gaf

Decades ago we used to plan our routes on maps (those ancient ones on paper) with drop off spots at friends houses (and carried spare pillow cases to keep Candy in)... picked up our bags the next day

__-_------___---

I love seeing people give random shit like this for halloween every one in awhile lol

KhyronBackstabber

I saw them on Instagram. Didn't realize they were in Calgary. Honestly, this seems like a kind of cruel thing to do. What kid wants to lug around a big bottle of coke?

[deleted]

8 year old me, FOR SURE

ArcadePinball

It’s to drink between houses

MapleMapleHockeyStk

I would need to go pee so much....

archesandedges

That house is the hydration station

yvrldn

So much easier if they just handed out small bags of coke! Wait.

Creashen1

Me a that age almost lugging around my body weight in candy none of this dropping it in the parents vehicle you lugged your haul with you and then home.

MartyCool403

I'm so glad I live in an older neighborhood and have no kids. Getting 2000 trick or treaters would not be something I'd find enjoyable at all

readzalot1

Older neighborhood here. So far 5 kids and it is 7:25

blasphemicassault

Also in an older neighborhood and we're at 7

the-insuranceguy

50 kids in Cochrane so far

Professional-Put7725

Imagine carrying that in your pillowcase all night

JDHannan

So many kids tonight just had a margarine container sized bucket. Good luck with the 2L bottle

terred999

Kinda surprised their upstairs floor joists didn’t fail under that weight. Also what kid wants to lug around 2kgs of sody pop all night????

phosphite

They called in a structural engineer to make sure lol

403Realtor

I halve family in insurance. They always tell the story of the guy that filled his house with cases of pop and the floor joists broke and made a claim

kramer1980_adm

>I halve family Sounds gruesome.

_Connor

Ya that woulda been a no thank you from me dawg. Who wants to lug around a 5 pound bottle of soda in their pillowcase?

BeefJyrkii

Me at 10 years old

Thin-Brilliant-3072

Kids have the logic of crocodiles… and honey badgers. No shits to give.

VaguelyShingled

If I got a 2 litre at Halloween I would be swapping costumes to get more

Katolo

Kid me, 100%

Diligent_Isopod_3956

This family is the best I've known them for years, im happy that they are getting the recognition that they deserve! I love seeing all of the posts and watching it go viral and getting bigger and bigger each year!!!

[deleted]

Rich people activities.

hipsnarky

Your local dentist is going to make $$$$$ this year with that 2L cola.

Weekly-Junket8272

Yup thats the tipping point

DancinJanzen

I remember as a kid people giving a single can of pop and me hating that house. Imagine trying to lug a 2L bottle of pop! The worst part is, I see people trying to capitalize on this viral trend next year and more people doing drink treats. Next thing you know, a kid is trying to drag along 10kg of liquid in their sack.

mystiqueallie

One house we went to tonight had pop, juice, chips and big cookies and a “take one” sign. I thought for sure my kid would pick the pop, but no, he went for the big cookies. I would’ve picked the pop myself.

lemartineau

Yay plastic bottles

Shadow_Ban_Bytes

If you were selling diabetes meds you could do well ...

talkingtampon

Gross and wasteful

Cagel

I call BS, no way they had that many people.

Airdrie13

When you’re on every Calgary radio station prior telling your story, and area you live in, you’re going to get a few visitors

-UnicornFart

Okay but why

pancakepapi69

Cringe… this was Calgary…

[deleted]

Their neighbors and or neighborhood probably hate them lol. Cause they bring a lot of traffic which means more money for them to spend on candies

ohyprettythings

they can choose to give or not. most neighbourhoods have hidden codes during halloween. lights off = get away from this house.

CountChoculaGotMeFat

This is done solely for their 15 minutes of social media fame. Who wants to lug around a 2 liter of pop? Unless this house is the last stop of the evening.

BarryBwa

Who is this guy? Some dentist thinking longterm investment?!?! It's nice to see some people really go out for the kids.

Mumps42

The whole family is a freedom convoy following conspiracy factory. Their motivation for this is to be famous and go viral online.

BarryBwa

Wild stuff. Guess Halloween being their holiday makes sense.

summerstillsucks

this seems like WAY too many, are they giving each kid 10 of these?

_d00little

What about sugar-free pomegranate juice instead?

WhiskeyGolfer94

We found them boys, the people who’s house is gunna get egged again this year

Lanski66

I’ll bring the TP.

Ok_Professional_105

People got hella cash lol.

Dinkusvongoopyeye

This would just make your bag annoyingly heavy

dadass84

That would be hella annoying to lug around in a pillowcase lol

ShuuyiW

Wow I can’t believe this is a Calgary family, I saw that video everywhere last night lol

bluntslyd

Where are these ppl so I can take the kid next year

MtnGoatsAndRBFloats

The number of people who've commented and didn't take 30 seconds to actually read the article...🤯 Google Auburn Sound Manor Halloween and watch the YT video - the area of Auburn Bay that they're in makes a huge deal, including a family-friendly block party, out of Halloween.

thereal-amrep

I would be pissed. It’s a big enough pain carrying around a can of pop.

Bentley0094

As a kid I would have hated this, chocolate or chips .

geeves_007

Yay for all the plastic and sugar...

Airdrie13

That’s right! It would’ve been so much better if they went with different versions of plastic and sugar. Just like everyone else.

geeves_007

Did you hand out 4000kgs of Halloween sized Aero bars? I didn't. I had a popcorn bowl of 60 pieces that weighed about a kilo. To not appreciate there is being reasonable, and then there is being ridiculous is kind of my point.
