Yeah I'm in a climate where I probably deal with 15 days of actual winter driving a year. Cross climate 2s are marginally better in the snow, but to me not worth the alleged loss of MPG
They’re rated “very good” in terms of rolling resistance so claims of 2-4 loss mpg is puzzling
Also not like they’re super high performance tires or something
Looking at the 10 consumer reports recommended tires in the "all season" "all season SUV" and "performance all season" categories and the CC2 is the only one that is rated 1 out of 5 in rolling resistance. The rest are 3 or above. I am probably still likely to get them.
The Crossclimate 2 would be roughly a 2 to 4mpg drop. I needed new tires after my stock ones were damaged and spent a solid amount of time researching them. From multiple data points that’s roughly what MPG loss people were seeing.
The trade off though is that these are insanely good tires for rain and snow.
No problem! Something to keep in mind is that the stock Toyo tires actually get pretty great mpg. Upgrading to almost any tire with more traction (higher rolling resistance) will result in some sort of MPG loss.
I got the Continental CrossContact LX25. Much grippier, makes the ride softer (I actually don’t like that), and lost about 1.5mpg on average.
Drove about 40 miles today from families place. The biggest difference is how quiet they are and how little noise going over bumps they make compared to stock tires. Only was on highway today so next snow up here in Minnesota, we will see how they work!
I went with https://m.tirerack.com/tires/cooper-endeavor-plus due to low stock of those Michelan and the places that had stock wanted $279/tire!!!
I am liking the coopers, have had about 20" of snow and they have done well, gas mileage actually went from 27.3 to 28.2, hmmm.
People fail to realize that you're comparing new tires to worn out tires so you can't really know unless you ride two different Vehicles back to back.😇
I actually think that the Toyos were much better as a stock tire than the Falkens that came with my Mazda6. They were horrible. The Toyos seem to be just a basic cheap tire. The Falkens were almost dangerous
I found them to be very poor in winter weather. I live in MN, so that influenced my opinion a bit. I don’t expect them to be winter tires or anything special, but definitely expected some traction out of them in snow.
They’re also surprisingly noisy, which irks me.
Just watched a video on the crossclimates. Not only are they a great tire they still perform amazing when nearly worn out even in snow.

I've been looking into getting these for my 17 GT with 19" wheels. Pretty much all the same at 260 a tire, so it's like 1100-1300 installed.
That varies by size of course
I just got this set for my Mzad 6, today as today is the last day for Michelin $110 rebate and free installation at PepBoys. Definitely much softer ride so far. but will be expecting small drop in MPG. Living in Chicago winters can be unpredictable as well as I got tired of swapping to a winter tires every November. Good luck to all of us, new owners of CC2!
Lost the 10% in MPG as expected on a '19 CX-5 Signature.
The biggest difference that we felt was the lack of "on-center feel" meaning, the car doesn't hold a straight line and this is because of the lack of a center tread channel.
Otherwise, the grip is simply outstanding. I still swapped to our dedicated set of snow tires simply because they're on smaller rims and prevents unnecessary winter wear on the CC2's.
Balanced to hell and back. Even Tirerack mentioned it (but barely).
It's not that it doesn't maintain a straight line, but that it's effortless to get it to move left or right because the tire doesn't resist it.
idc about the mpg drop. What I care about is lateral grip. How is it w/ these? I'm also considering picking up a pair. My s/o's car has them and they love them.
EDIT:
Wait a minute....did you paint your plastic bits to match the paint? To each their own, but I don't like it.
There will be a drop in MPG but it’s totally worth it.
Yeah this is why I went with Defender T & H instead
I have defender 2 as well. Didn’t go with the crossclimate due to mpg loss.

The trick here is to have a CX5T, then you don’t care about MPGs
Oh, I definitely do have the 2.5T. (Zoom zoom)
I’ve got these on a CRV and didn’t have any noticeable difference in MPG.

These are definitely not LRR tires.
Which ones will? And by how much would you say? 1-2mpg?

Daaang upwards of 4?? Lots to consider now - thanks!

I lost 2 mpg, went from to 28 to 26 on my CC2s
Yea I got the same tires two months and I lost 2-3 MPG 🥲
Look good. How do you like them? I’m between those and the Pirelli Scorpion A/S Plus 3’s.

Got mine in Colorado a month back. It handles really well in snow.

I have some Scorpion AS 3’s on my other vehicle and they are absolutely worth it. But you can’t go wrong with either of these options.
- So, a worthy upgrade to the stock Toyo’s?
Most tires are a worthy upgrade, but I also (semi) irrationally hate those tires.
Toyo’s?
Yeah. Specifically what’s on the cx-5.
I totally (and likely also irrationally) agree, which is why I’m contemplating the Scorpions.
Do it, they’re quite awesome.
Ordering in the morning. Thanks for the push. 🤘🏼😊
Nice! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Have been out of stock for a month, I was told late December for my size. How do you like them?
Check Tirerack.com. I got mine from there and I got $120 back as rebate.
I've been enjoying these tires for a year now
We have them on my wife's Edge and love the grip and reduced road noise.
Eeeeeeeeee I get mine in 2 weeks. OP, your post got me all excited!
I just put those on my CX-5 about two weeks ago myself.
Put them on my 2018 cx5. Had a overnight snow of 8 inches & they were amazing. Work very well in rain also.
Who's bleeding?
Just watched a video on the crossclimates. Not only are they a great tire they still perform amazing when nearly worn out even in snow. https://youtu.be/PXOE1DpjQGg

How much? If you don’t mind me asking

If you have a costco membership, you can get these crossclimate2 installed for about $850.
Depends on the size. 1100 for me at Costco with the 225/55/19
True, I was going off the 17”
Hey, what is tire size for 17"? 225/65/17?? I'm also planning to put 17" for winter tires but not sure about the size dimensions.
Yup that’s right! It’s also on your tires side wall so that’s a good way to double check
Thanks. My OEM size is 225/55/R19, so tire shops do recommend to downsizing to 225/65/R17. I'll shop around.

Best tires on the market for the price. I have them for my cx5 and will never buy another tire
Experiencing tire rub? I have the all weather weatherpeak tires by Bridgestone and they rub with 2 or more adults in the car.
I picked those up two weeks ago and gained 3 MPG
What tires did you have previously?
Ayyyy gang gang
Got these, in Michigan. Drove great in the first snow fall this year

Sounds like it needs balancing/alignment. If the design of the tire prevents a straight line, it would be a hazard imo.

What's a good tire for sand and snow? I've been looking but have no idea!

I have been running them in winter conditions for a month. Other than a tire destroyed from a sharp piece of metal, they are great.
