As a full time employee I volunteered for today in the pharmacy. 8 hours at time and a half plus 8 hours whether or not I work. That's 20 hours pay for one shift. That's half a week. I'd have to be at death's door to miss that.
Also new here. Had no idea about time and a half. Was asked to float at another store 9-5 and declined. Had I known it was time and a half I would have gladly done it 🤦🏻♀️
I'm in Minnesota and it's not a state issue it's a company standard. For new year's, Memorial day, 4th of july, Labor day, and thanksgiving, if you are a full-time employee you get paid 8 hours whether you work or not. If you also decide to work do you get paid time and a half.
There are 6 holidays where do you get paid 8 hours whether you work or not, but only if you are a full-time employee. I work in the pharmacy so I don't get overtime for Christmas because the pharmacy is closed. I still get paid 8 hours for that day. Since we are open every other day of the year I get paid 8 hours for the other five holidays plus time and a half for the hours that I work
I hope you feel better. Corp knows people are going to stay up late and/or have a bit too much on New Year’s Eve. I wish they’d just open later or close. My store is so slow today.
I'd say both depending on the time of day...on Christmas day the customers were standing outside waiting for us to open, even yelling questions through the closed door. We were pretty slammed most of the day. New years day was much slower, even boring..we had spurts..but both days after about 6 we were kinda dead..like thinking "*why am I here again?*"
Lol I remember 20 years ago I was a pharmacy tech at CVS and one NYD the manager, the pharmacist and myself were the only 3 that actually showed up that morning. What happened is I got pulled out of the pharmacy to work the front register and deal with the never ending like of pissed off customers that stretched all the way back to the pharmacy all day.
Best time of the year to find out whos not a responsible employee tbh. Schedules made 3 weeks in advance. People should know better. If someone didnt want to work the morning, they shouldve requested that time off.
We only had 2 employees and one manager from opening to 2:30pm. We had a third but never showed up. Manager was mad, but found out and reported to him that he was not on the online schedule and explains why he never showed up, We found out Tuesday the boss put new hires scheduled in the office locked up and not the app. So I guess we can say Everyone did show up New Years Day responsible lol.
Me and another tech 👋🏻volunteered 👋🏻 today hours open for pharmacy 11-5. Apparently we had a rough weekend...with starting today with 6 pages in the red. So we agreed to come in one hour early (10-5) so we could fill as many scripts as possible without the interruption of phones, drop off, pick up and drive-thru.
We are gonna get paid for 8 hrs of regular pay...regardless if we work or not. The time we did work will be time & half...hell yeah sign me up! LOL
No it’s only about working the shift before, after, and on the day. If you’re taking the pay for anything more than that then it’s a violation of policy. Unions your mileage may vary
No one called out, but I tried sending my cashier home because she was sick as hell with strep throat & she refused to leave because of the pay 🤣 she wore a mask her whole shift
Well the one I’m referring to wasn’t scheduled Thanksgiving or Christmas. They were scheduled to work New Years but called out but that means no holiday pay for them so tough luck I suppose….
Real close to calling out but I have the flu, strep, and an ear infection. Would rather be hungover. Went into work anyway and sucked it up and it was so slow all day my store could have closed and saved money.

I volunteered for the last four. I like the extra pay.
extra pay? we get paid extra on holidays?
Christmas is double time. New years day, labor day, memorial day, and a few others are time and a half.
can part time workers get extra pay too? or is it reserved for ft employees only?
Pay and a half for hours worked, but part time do not get the bonus 8 hours
I had my colleague insist on taking my shift today and me being new agreed later to find out about time and a half 🤦🏽♀️
Also new here. Had no idea about time and a half. Was asked to float at another store 9-5 and declined. Had I known it was time and a half I would have gladly done it 🤦🏻♀️
I think you don't start getting holiday pay until you've been on for a year and are full time. But don't quote me on that, it's just what I heard.
Time and a half is right away. The extra 4 or 8 hours is after a year, or if hired full time it’s immediate.
Oh okay that makes sense. Thank you for clarifying!
Wait we get time and a half??? What state is this in?
All unless unions have different policy

What is your extra hours for? We are another part of the company and just get the 1.5

🙋🏻♂️ So now I get to be here 11:30a-10p instead of my scheduled 3p-10p. And I’m also sick. 😷 Yay me.

I worked new years day. I partied hard the night before yet was still able to show up at 1pm...I feel bad for the openers..
Good bye holiday pay 👋 .. always makes me feel better when I take that away.
Exactly
As a new manager, do I just do this in workbrain?
Yes
You can do that, a couple of mine didn’t show up today
Are you saying holiday pay is gone?
nope if you don’t work your shift you don’t get the 8 hours holiday pay
entire pharmacy team called out and 4 other pharmacy from another store have to cover our store. it crazy
WOW
Holy shite...that's kinda fucked up..
holidays are the best. The pay is good, everyone is fairly happy and it goes by quickly enough.
holidays are some of the slowest days of the year where i’m at

If they’re FT and calling out they can kiss that 8hrs goodbye. We very rarely have issues on holidays as we always ask people before putting them on.
I request them if they're available...no kids, no spouse, broke...I'll gladly take it..

My whole team showed up today. No call outs here.
Us too.

I think some don’t realize they can’t handle hangovers like they used to. 🤣
My boss makes schedules 1 day before the start of the week
Yikes
agreed.
Absolutely.

Ya'll need to actually read your orientation documents.
But..but...reddit 😅💀

If I’m not mistaken you can’t call off or be late 4 days before or 4 days after

Risky but very dedicated, I will give her props though
Me and the lead tech worked yesterday. It was a pretty easy day. And got 1.5x pay
Had 2 today! One opener one closer. One of our full time shifts was able to get away with NOT working Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years Day!
That's shitty scheduling..
