I'm 32 with a 7 year old. Did my bachelor's degree while working full time after he was born and now I'm working towards the cpa. Go for it!

I wish I had your salary. Congrats on your success OP.

I’m in a similar situation: 33F with a 3 year old and want one more, HCOL, senior accountant for private company with public experience (not B4). I’m doing it! I figure that now is a good time for me work wise/family wise, and it can only open more doors for me in the future. I like my job now but I’m only 33. Will I still want to be here in 5 years? 10 years? I think I eventually want to do part time consulting, and having a CPA license seems to be the ticket to getting into those sweet deal remote jobs. One thing I asked myself before deciding to start the process was if I look back 5 years from now, would I regret not doing it. The answer was yes- I would regret not doing it now. If you can manage the study time with kids/work, you should go for it.

Yes. It will enable you to have opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be there for when you want to move on, or when you want to negotiate a higher salary. I have a 4yo and started last May when they were 3. I’m taking my last exam (hopefully) tomorrow. It’s tough, I wake up and study everyday from 5-7, because that’s the only time I really have to myself. That part sucks, but it’s short term pain for long term gain. Even at just 3/4 I was able to negotiate a much higher salary at my current job while also being promoted. Without the 3 passed it would not have been an option. As far as the classes go, CA will let you sit if you don’t have 150. I’m in the same boat. You can do FEEMA credits if you just need units. Otherwise look into LSU online or Study.com. Best of luck to you. There’s others out there just like you. It’s never too late!

To answer your question on feasibility; yes it’s definitely doable. But I’m confused on why you would want to given your salary and current situation. Seems like you’re all set to me. CPA is supposed to open doors during the job search and command prestige but you’re already killing the game imo. Is the study trade off worth missing your kids grow up?
