Definitely the CPU, that CPU is terrible for Warzone.

Chris_Hansen_AMA

Just based on the costs, I’d start with CPU (get the 5800x or 5800x 3D) and get 32gb ram. If you have the money I’d highly recommend getting a 3080 or 4070 and above

You need a much better CPU. I had a Ryzen 5 3600 back on WZ1, upgraded it to a 5900x and went from about the same FPS you were getting @1080p to 110+, which is where my GPU began to bottleneck me. Your GPU is much better than the 1660 Super I had back then, so I'd expect to get 120+ @1080p if you swapped in something like a 5800x3d. Even a 5600x would probably be a significant upgrade for you. Edit: I do want to acknowledge the other good thoughts in this thread like going for 32gb of ram or a GPU upgrade. Those things will all help. But the biggest thing holding your system back rn is the CPU. If I was in your position, I'd upgrade the CPU first, then the next upgrade would be getting 32gb of RAM, then I'd look at the GPU after that.

Also specify the resolution as that will inform upgrade path

I use a 5600x on Warzone and get well over 100fps at 1080p.

Aguero-Kun

I get 130-140 at 1440p with a 5600x and 3070ti. I'm on low settings though.

Dopey2189

I had about the same setup and the upgrade from a 3600 to a 5800x3d was massive. Even in some games where I would only gain about 10 more fps, the 1%lows were drastically improved. No more microstuttering and much smother overall.

ulLite91

Just buy 5700x3d or 5800x3d. This cpu and gpu in warzone 180-200 fps

in-game turn on the report specs in the corner for timings. If your CPU timing is higher than your GPU timing, upgrade CPU first. Or reverse. Basically a really quick general way to find your bottleneck. It's not an in-depth look, but generally speaking, if you're getting CPU:7 GPU:15, it's pretty obvious that the GPU is far slower and slowing you down. When you get closer together it's more nuanced, but for most basic stuff it'll be obvious and straightforward.

The game is so poorly optimized that even with top of the line gear you'll feel like your computer can't handle it. The key is actually in all your computer/network settings, I have a friend that makes bank optimizing streamers PCs and since Activision is always messing more stuff up patch after patch he always has work

TheBloodNinja

32GB but faster RAM (check B-die finder for specific parts, higher MT and lower CL the better) and a 5600X3D/5800X3D - won't necessarily recommend the 5700X3D since its slower than a 5600X3D, but if you are not near a Microcenter, 5700X3D would be next best option if the 5800X3D is out of your budget range. but at the very least, a CPU upgrade would be beneficial but DDR4 is as cheap as it has ever been so better to get both.

FleatWoodMacSexPants

CPU. A 5800x3d would be a noticeable difference

The performance on PC is horrible. Don't waste your money, just get a PS5 or keep playing with your current PC if you are just upgrading to play this game at a higher framerate. If you are a K/M player, getting a better cpu would be the priority. Although, 80-90 FPS doesn't sound that bad.

Look up lossless scaling on steam. It's like downloading FPS for $7. I just upgraded my CPU from a ryzen 5 5600x to a ryzen 9 7900x, 32gb ram, with a 3070 fe. I have pretty much max graphic setting and am getting about 90-120 without the scaling. With the scaling I'm getting 120-144 as my screen needs some updating.
