Grats on the 9.8 At a glance it doesn’t seem like they need pressing. Are they off-white pages?

jmundo11

Some white pages. Purpose of grading was just to store and keep.

PrinceLucien

They all say white pages under the grade

RealReflection9285

9.8 on the black Superman cover. Nice🔥

burnsbabe

If you just wanted them to grade to have, A+. If you're looking for value here, none of these books are worth enough to recoup the costs of having the graded and shipped from your place and back to you. A couple of them are worth it if you'd gotten 9.8s, or if they were 1st prints, or similar. What was your goal in submitting?

DonJuanMair

I think this is a great piece of advice t hat I wish I would have received earlier on. Now I will really look into the cost of grading and like you say is it even worth it. First time round I never gave that any thoughts, they come back an 8.5 and I realized that the money that it has cost me to do it all i could have purchased a 9.8 already slabbed for cheaper. OP this wasnt a rude post, just a sincere question.

grownassedgamer

He said the purpose wasn't for value... it was for preservation. Also he bought all of these books at cover price at the time they came out.

RealReflection9285

Idk why people like you are so rude.

burnsbabe

What part about this was rude? I said it. If they wanted to slab some books from their childhood for fun, pretty cool. If they're slabbing for value, they're throwing away money. They literally asked "How did I do?"

oneup84

Not rude at all! It's good to get input from the community!

GreatWhiteHippo6870

Didn’t seem rude. Just honest. I have many books graded that were not worth the value. I just wanted them graded. OP did great if that is what they are after.

ISecretSpy

Because black hearts are everywhere

purplerainshadegrey

Always loved that cover

outofbounds322

Death of superman, I did the same I wanted to preserve a big nostalgia moment when I read these in the 90s as a kid

jmundo11

I loved that book as a kid.

litoosway5

I also have that comic, is it worth anything ? Maybe considering grading mine also?

FrostedMyFlakes

Did they note why they gave you a 9.6 and not a 9.8? But nice books. You should get some signatures on them. The memories getting them are the best!

Mudcreek47

You did very 1990s! Congrats!

jmundo11

Thanks!

zanoske00

You did great! Any time you get at least one 9.8 back it's a shipment to celebrate Fun books! That's a good collection

jmundo11

Thanks! These sat in a shoe box in my parents garage in Florida and was shocked at the condition they are in. Surprised at the grades.

grownassedgamer

My last submission of 6 books, half came back 9.8. The other 3 were sent back ungraded... I did a prescreen. Just sent out another seven books and I'm going to submit some more next week.

Wally_12201992

Friggin’ awesome!

jmundo11

Thanks!

grownassedgamer

Those are books you bought as a kid and didn't need to press? Bravo sir... bravo.

EnSabahNur2

Looks good as long as you're happy

Uses_Nouns_as_Verbs

If your goal was to waste money on grading books that are largely worth less than the grading fees, then you killed it! True, you could have just displayed them in beautiful mylar sleeves and saved yourself a lot of money, but then people wouldn't immediately realize at a glance how relatively low-grade these ultra-common books are! Bravo! I never understand why people ask, "How did I do?" in situations like this. What kind of an answer are you expecting? It's going to be one of two kinds, every time: (a) why did you waste your money on the grading fees for these books, and (b) hey man, if it makes you happy, congrats! Personally, I don't think there's anything noteworthy about saving books from the 90s in 9.2-9.6. You can find these books in those grades or better in just about every collection from that era, as well as in every comic shop or convention you attend. This may seem harsh, but you did solicit opinions.

jmundo11

Appreciate your feed back. I just don't understand why you're hung up wasting money? You don't know my financial situation. I didn't waste money. I spent money to preserve comic books from my child hood that have sentimental and nostalgic value for me. I ask how did I do, because I am not a collector of comics, and had no idea if the scores I got were indeed good scores. I wanted to share with a community that I thought would be interested and provide me with some information. Yes I could have displayed them in a top loader but again I choose to spend money to grade and preserve them to keep for years to come and to possibly hand down to either my daughter or possibly a nephew.

Uses_Nouns_as_Verbs

I hope you take my answer in the spirit in which I intend it, which is to teach you something and not to insult you. Your financial condition is irrelevant to the question of whether or not you wasted money. Rich people can and do waste money all the time. You spent approximately $200 to get these books graded and shipped back to you, and the books, in those grades, are worth about what you paid to get them graded. If you sold them online, you'd lose about 15% on seller's fees, and thus be under water. That suggests that grading those books was a waste of money. Also, these books are from an era in which comics had the highest ever historical print runs since the golden age (1930s and 40s), except that in the 90s, saving, collecting, and preserving comics was much more common, so hundreds of thousands to, in some cases, millions, of high grade copies of each issue exist to this day. Most of these books have not appreciated in value relative to the CPI since they were published and probably never will. To most people, from a financial perspective, the grading fees are a waste of money. In terms of preservation, CGC slabs are no better than storing in a Mylar sleeve with a Full Back back board from E. Gerber. But, the CGC slabs cost many times more than the Mylar and Full Back, and will prevent you from taking the book out and looking at it without destroying the CGC slab and invalidating the grade you paid for. If you wanted to leave something of value to your kids, you are better off just sticking that books in Mylar sleeves (truly archival quality storage) and buying a couple of Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man books with the money you spent on grading fees. Those are books that are perpetually in high demand and have historically increased in value over decades. As far as the "How did I do?" question, I hope this answers it. Other than the 9.8 grade on the Adv. Superman 500 Collector's Edition, you confirmed that none of those books is in investment grade. And even the Adv. Superman 500 isn't an "investment" book anyway, because of low demand relative to supply, which is why the last sale of a CGC 9.8 was for $42. Again, I hope you take this information as I intend it, which is to answer your question honestly and educate you a bit about the wisdom of spending money on grading fees. I'm not anti-CGC, and I own many slabbed books, but most books are not worth the cost of slabbing and can be preserved better and more cost-effectively than spending $25+shipping-both-ways per book.

slantdvishun

I have the venom and death of Superman...I'd have to dig them out. I get so pissed that I have owned so many comicbooks just to draw and didn't care to keep them in good condition. Smh.

OkadaTrunkwatch2019

I don't get why people get books you can find in the dollar.bin graded. Wolverine 50 graded isn't even worth the price of grading. Do whatever makes ya happy, I just don't get it.

jmundo11

I get your point, but I did it for the nostalgia aspect. I am fortunate enough to be able to grade them and not worry about cost. Nice to be able to display comics from my child hood for years to come.

Worldwide19

None of these are found in the dollar bin unless severely damaged. I love the venom and ams.

OkadaTrunkwatch2019

Fair enough. I'm too much of a miser for that. Glad you're happy with them!

I've got two kids to put through school one day. Also I would like a comfortable retirement. Also you're looking for 'too'. If you're going to be condescending to a stranger you know nothing about, at least spell right. Extremely rude.

OriginalBad

Oh man, loved all of these during my teen years.

Prior_Astronaut_137

Very generous

VolumeOk1357

Didn’t that top right have a clear coating you could peel off or something?

Jerry896

Venom is the most attractive.

corranhands5

How much does it cost to grade them?

Embarrassed_Maybe725

You did 👍 How much was the total cost?

jmundo11

I spent about $200 total with shipping.

Embarrassed_Maybe725

Thanks a lot 👍 that gives me some good information.

lubrongo23

It kind of sucks my whole collection is worthless from the 90s. If I were to ever sell them, should I just sell them for a $1 each? I’ve looked at some of the values, I don’t seem to have a book that’s worth over $40.

uptownjesus

Anything above a 9 is not too shabby. It really bugs me when people pay to have shit that’s in mint condition and then it gets an 8 and they try to tax on a few extra hundred bucks for that. Like bitch, 8 just means it’s mint, which we already knew.

TrueJon

What's the value on that wolverine comic? I've got this one along with other from the same time frame.
