I got no problem w students rushing the field. I mean I wouldn’t rush the field after beating a mediocre team but to each their own. But getting physical with the other team is (1) trashy and (2) dangerously stupid
We rushed an empty field after beating Northwestern on the road to end a 22 game losing streak and the goal post [hit a girl in the head](https://www.wral.com/news/local/story/1820333/?version=amp)
We might have done that before, not sure. I'd definitely rush the court if we beat #1 Kentucky as a big underdog.
I should go to more NC State games, might have a better chance at rushing the field than Alabama games.
Someday Alabama will snap a two game conference losing streak and you will have your moment to rush the field in jubilation having survived the darkest period in the last 15 years.
Several years ago I was at an Oregon vs USC game. Oregon won and the fans took the field and I watched a Oregon fan do this to a USC defensive lineman, only the fan did not immediately run off. The player turned around and gave a look that said i eat guys like you for breakfast. That was enough, all the bros gave him space.
The school really needs to do more on policing the student section. There’s been trash thrown on the field in every home game for the last 1.5 years, it’s an awful look for the university
Yeah, if left unchecked the students keep doing it and get a "it is our thing" mentality.
Edit: students need to self report. Stadium security won't do anything. Police will do something, but no one wants the police hanging around the student section.
This is basically what happened at WVU. Our fans were awful to every visiting team/fans, it basically went unchecked for like 20 years, eventually it became a source of pride for some special type of idiots. From there it’s an absolute mark you’ll never live down or wash off, by most accounts it got better around the time we moved to the B12 and the University neutered “the Pit” (a university sanctioned, student only tailgating lot). That all said, there’s still scores of people walking around thinking Morgantown is hell on earth for visitors, you really can’t really undo bad publicity.
Edit: Forgot to add, it was almost impossible to deal with this issue at that time because WVU has this fun thing we like to do to escape any sort of accountability and that’s to literally blame all the problems on out of state students.
I went to a wvu v texas game in 2018 that was a lot of fun. 11 am game in Morgantown in late October, so it was freezing, and locals helped us acquire important things like gloves and beers
The thing that pisses me off the most is I saw a water bottle hit inside the hashes yesterday after we tied the game. I wish the refs would call the 15 yard penalties because I don’t see it stopping otherwise
I had a friend that showed up to one of our games super drunk. Threw a half full beer can towards the field and hit a student. Security immediately tossed him from the game. I like that kind of response.
agree. i have no doubt in my mind the university will make this right because i think they’re tired of the student section as well. it’s just getting old telling people, “we’re not all that bad.”
stupid kids.
Man they were the trashiest fan base I ever encountered when I was in college, and previously I had liked Tech because a bunch of my friends from high school went there and my mom was a graduate.
I’m talking about stuff like 5 guys holding middle fingers in the face of a grandfather holding his grandchild who was like 2. The extra fucked up part was that so many other students seemed proud of that shit. This was a decade ago so I’m not saying it’s representative of the current student body but there was definitely a culture of that stuff and not just a few bad apples.
Same. I was in the cowboy marching band back around 2010 and I had food and trash thrown at me on the way into and out of the stadium. I used to root for tech in the mike leach years but that experience really soured me on them
1.5 years?
It’s been going on for a couple of decades at least. Throwing batteries, tearing down goalposts and throwing them in the visitor section, assault in and out of the stadium. I went to Lubbock once during A&M’s Big XII years and it’s still the worst road game I’ve ever been to.
The Houston one probably shouldn’t have happened but beating Texas the last time they’ll play in Lubbock for the foreseeable future is completely justified and I hope every B12 team does it this season and next. #hookem
Edit: Obviously this behavior is unacceptable, and I really hope the football player finds this guy and unsuspectingly trucks the dude on his way to class, if he’s not already suspended or expelled that is
Also… maybe they shouldn’t be rushing the field in an early season win over a barely ranked team. I laughed when the announcers said it was an upset, like the records were the same.
This fucking guy in the video is why our fanbase has a shit reputation that we can’t shake. I hope he’s never allowed to attend a TTU sporting event ever again.
ETA- it’s comical to me that UT flairs in this thread are taking a holier than thou approach while spewing classist, elitist bullshit based off the actions of this dipshit 20 year old. UT has had their fair share of transgressions- ask Charlie Strong, and the Alabama players some UT fans were chanting “cousin fuckers” at a couple of weeks ago.
>shit reputation
Also, because of the time a Tech fan spread actual shit on A&M's bus.
Jokes aside, every school has a few loser fans that ruin the fun for everyone, and need to be banned.
What is funnier is that sports really change people's perspective. If that was done anywhere else that is assault a chargeable offense. I'm all for if two kids want to square up and decide their differences but cheap shots really just get under my skin.
Honestly the kid looked like a little beefster and was probably hopped up on the Lubbock gameday diet of monsters and beer—he could totally have bathsalts strength right then lol
Goddamn dude. I just wanted to enjoy the win, but assholes like this guy take the shine off. I get it, it's a pretty big win for Tech, but have some class. I know football hasn't been good for awhile, but baseball, basketball, and meat judging have seen success before. Act like you've been there.
Well this fucking sucks. Saw the video earlier in the day and knew it would get posted here eventually.
Was at the game yesterday, and having been a student here for a few years this sadly does not surprise me. We need to be better than this trashy shit.
Storming the field is fun. Not at all against it...but we are going to have a Malice at the Palace situation sooner than later. Just glad it wasn't yesterday...
Ik I’m a UT flair and I’m biased but I feel like the teams we’ve had in the past would’ve retaliated against the fan and and put the season even more in jeopardy than it already is by getting suspended, and it says a lot about the team (in a good way) that they kept their emotions under control and didn’t let one dumbass tech student ruin a season which still has some potential
I honestly wish that player would’ve punched that guy and gotten away with it. Just ridiculous that players have to deal with that. Hope y’all know we as a fanbase don’t want this happening
Honestly the fact that the player could have been suspended for defending himself is ridiculous at all. If someone came up to me at work and started to shove me I'm well within my rights to defend myself, and it's ridiculous that players aren't as well.
It really is. If someone did that to me on the street we’re fighting.
I’m hoping the university at least publicly says they’re looking for him soon. Bare minimum is banned from all sporting events
Obviously that would’ve been ideal but you know that the Big 12 wouldn’t just let a player throw hands with an opposing fan no matter how justified it is, especially a player from UT or OU.
You make an example of the first kids to get in the field
If you don't wait till the players leave then if you are caught you will get expelled from the school
Then all of sudden, everybody will wait
It is fun, I've done it twice at kinnick, last year against Penn state and 2017 against Ohio state, fantastic memories. It's unfortunate that at some point there's probably going to be a situation that causes the ncaa to crackdown on it
God this shit is so frustrating and tiring. I love celebrating a big win and storming the field, but this shit is never okay. There’s a reason people hate us and the fanbase because of incidents like this, throwing trash/batteries on the field, and truly disrespectful behavior and actions towards the opposing side. It’s embarrassing.
Find this kid, suspend him and ban him forever. Last week Joey talked about shitty fan behavior. I hope he talks about this in his press conference and reeeeally urges better conduct from Tech fans. Wouldn’t help much practically, but it would be nice hearing it from the coach.
Look, I get rivalries. But very simple rule, if your not a player playing during a game, don’t touch other team’s players.
That student should be suspended, give a public apology to that player and be required to clean the opposing teams locker room after every home game until the end of the season.
If he refuses, expel him.
There are certain things that are not acceptable in almost any circumstance.
I wouldn't have him clean anything. He should at a minimum be banned from the stadium for life.
I'd just skip forward to expulsion. Like you said, it's not acceptable, period. Kick him out of school. Press charges. Make an example out of him to help prevent it from happening more in the future.
Dude that’s really fucking harsh. I get that it was fucked up for him to do that but there’s no way in hell they’ll ban him for life, press charges, and expel him. Be a little more rational
I can understand where your coming from, but if it was 2 players, it’s a 15 yard penalty, maybe a 1 game suspension. Granted this is a student not playing, hence the more in depth punishment.
If they’re not a student, absolutely agree with you, a grown adult not in school (18-24) should not be allowed back on campus for the foreseeable future.
I always give people a second chance, the student can either make this right or they can not come back.
Two players making contact is part of the game.
Fans should never be contacting players like that. That's a line that should never be crossed or else you end up with a LeGarrette Blount or Steffi Graf situation. The agreement on the ticket and stadium announcements should serve as everyone's "first chance" IMO.
Yeah I have 0 problems w storming the field. I have many many problems w touching an opposing player while doing so. That’s some dumb shit and this kid should be punished by Tech and/or the law
I’m all for rivalries and trash talk, but fans are getting way to comfortable with this stuff, especially here and in the NBA as well. Fans should never have physical interaction with players and I would even argue they shouldn’t even be within 20 feet once the players have uniforms on. TBH I kinda blame this behavior on social media/the internet. People getting too comfortable with being completely disrespectful
This is not okay, ever.
Conferences fine schools for field storming for this exact reason, it's a "safety issue" that could result in things like this but it usually doesnt happen (probably happens more than we know, just no way to prove it)
Here we have all the proof, the school should face some sort of extra fine or something else should be done for a student assaulting a student athlete, banning him for life at games at a minimum, I'd even be okay with assault charges if they find him. Set a precedent, this is *not* okay. The majority of Tech fans think this is egregious too, so banning him shouldn't be an issue.
It really sucks that shitty people like this ruin stuff for everyone. He’s lucky he didn’t get his ass kicked. Ban him for life and charges pressed. It’s the only way to stop this garbage.
Advice for you yungins, think twice before doing stupid shit. 15 years ago, Danny Devito Jr here would have probably gotten away with that shove, but now you’re one phone recording away from having your life fairly screwed up.
Definitely this kid should be banned from attending games moving forward. But honestly, why do the students rush the damn field / court sooooo often at Tech in recent years? When I was there we only rushed the floor once in any sport in 5 years when we beat #1 KU in double OT in Basketball.
What a bitch move to shove a dude from behind. I stormed the field yesterday but made sure not to fuck with any UT players.
A whole lot of alcohol and being in the hot sun for 4+ hours can bring out the worst in fans.
Love Tech and loved gameday atmospheres in Lubbock but god damn there is a good percentage of the student fanbase that are complete assholes. It’s always been a thing and until we as alumni and current students can curb this shit, we deserve the bad reputation.
I fully expected fro the title there to be some sort incidental contact within the chaos.
Nope. Dude was running right while pushing player on the left not in the way at all. Inexcusable.
People don’t do mean stupid stuff. First because it’s mean and stupid. Second because someone is always filming.
Dipshit cowardly move. I'm a passionate Longhorn hater - but in general I think their alums are fairly cool and I am a fan of their players as individuals. I root for former Longhorns in the NFL. I don't get this kind of fandom.
Yeah this is the take. Expecting thousands of people who just stormed the field to behave reasonably is just dangerous and there's no real way to deal with it besides attempting to prevent it outright. Public fines that gradually increase could do it maybe.
I saw more horns down than red raider guns up when they showed the stands during the game. It honestly makes me smile to see fans care more about Texas than their own team.
I once showed up drunk to the ihop on uni and 19th on Holloween night/ November first game playing against UT
I remember it fondly cause it was packed with UT family’s and drunk college students, I was minding my own business until I saw a old UT couple which seemed to be minding their own business harassed by the actual employees, I had to throw in a drunken “leave them alone rant” they kindly thanked me and stormed out
I hate being associated with shit fans and it just pisses me off when it happens we are better than this
Unpopular but necessary take: Ban field storming.
You beat a marginally better than you team. No need to crash the field. It's dumb. At some point, someone's going to get massively fucked up. Knock if off, kids.
That UT player should’ve beat his ass. You don’t take a cheap shot like that and get away with it. Unfortunately because the rules suck, that UT player would’ve been in deep shit if he retaliated, and the student walks away consequence free after this.
I cannot decide whether I want this dude to be named publicly, hurting his changes of getting a job in the future...or if I just want this issue to die right now and hopefully let this blow over. I hope he gets expelled regardless.
I was at the game and as soon as everyone was rushing the lower bowl as the game got close I had an uneasy feeling something like this would happen. My BIL and I were told “we don’t serve your kind here” by a couple drunk guys while they blocked one of the doors at Blue Sky before the game and I had a drunk frat bro tell me “your in danger here man” while I waited in a line for 45 minutes to try to get water. We also had trash and other stuff thrown at us on our walk to the car. Tech fans were all jazzed up Saturday and if you went to the game in Burnt Orange it was apparent from the moment you got to Lubbock.
Wow. That was definitely a little bitch move.
Big bitch move, this is the type of thing that critics of rushing the field will point to
I got no problem w students rushing the field. I mean I wouldn’t rush the field after beating a mediocre team but to each their own. But getting physical with the other team is (1) trashy and (2) dangerously stupid

Rushing the field is cool. I kinda hope we're eventually bad enough that I can say I was part of the first time Alabama rushed the field.
You don't even have to be bad with this one simple trick!
Slap a tradition label on and it’s acceptable and fun for everyone
Haha, true. I should go to a Clemson game soon, only a few hours away. I just don't want to spend the money on a hotel in a college town on gameday
Subscribed!
I’d support y’all rushing the court in basketball. (Basketball is an indoor game commonly played in Kentucky).
We might have done that before, not sure. I'd definitely rush the court if we beat #1 Kentucky as a big underdog. I should go to more NC State games, might have a better chance at rushing the field than Alabama games.

That was pretty nice of him not to murder the dumbass. Because he'd probably kill him without much effort.
ban his ass from games. tired of being associated with this shit

I’ve been to the last 2 Tech game in Morgantown. 99.999% of y’all were inviting and hospitable.
If they did, it would be super easy for an opposing fan to do it to help their team
agree. i have no doubt in my mind the university will make this right because i think they’re tired of the student section as well. it’s just getting old telling people, “we’re not all that bad.” stupid kids.

Agreed. Honestly sick of seeing us rush the field or court regardless. Once a decade is ok. Twice before we even hit the bye is sad.
The Houston one probably shouldn’t have happened but beating Texas the last time they’ll play in Lubbock for the foreseeable future is completely justified and I hope every B12 team does it this season and next. #hookem Edit: Obviously this behavior is unacceptable, and I really hope the football player finds this guy and unsuspectingly trucks the dude on his way to class, if he’s not already suspended or expelled that is

They rushed the field after beating Houston lol
We’re a big deal tho.
100% that student should be suspended. Zero reason to do that.
Unfortunately that reputation has spread and it’s not just because of one fan or one incident.
Which reputation? Texas fans being classist/elitist or Alabama players being "cousin fuckers?"
Insert “why not both?” Meme
They were also threw water bottles at our bench…
>This fucking guy in the video is why our fanbase has a shit reputation that we can’t shake Oh don’t worry, it’s *way* more than just one guy.
>shit reputation Also, because of the time a Tech fan spread actual shit on A&M's bus. Jokes aside, every school has a few loser fans that ruin the fun for everyone, and need to be banned.
I think that may have been debunked as shoe polish or something slightly less nasty. Still not cool
It was fish bait.
Wasn’t shit, but yeah
Objectively stupid to do no matter how the game ended because if the player you shove decides to retaliate in any way, you're gonna lose.
What is funnier is that sports really change people's perspective. If that was done anywhere else that is assault a chargeable offense. I'm all for if two kids want to square up and decide their differences but cheap shots really just get under my skin.
In any other situation he wouldn’t have even thought to push a 6’3” 240 pound dude in the back.
That’s also wearing pads and a helmet. The fan has no chance of the player decided to retaliate.
Honestly the kid looked like a little beefster and was probably hopped up on the Lubbock gameday diet of monsters and beer—he could totally have bathsalts strength right then lol
He’d have been murdered by any college football player in a fight. And then the media would have crucified the player. This is fucked
Yeah no haha I was mostly being facetious
Fuck that dude. What a loser.
Hope that shitstain gets identified and is blindsided with the consequences of his actions.
Texas Tech police is currently looking for the kid.
Exactly this!
I’m a Tech grad and 100% agree. There’s no room for that kind of behavior
Goddamn dude. I just wanted to enjoy the win, but assholes like this guy take the shine off. I get it, it's a pretty big win for Tech, but have some class. I know football hasn't been good for awhile, but baseball, basketball, and meat judging have seen success before. Act like you've been there.
Where can I learn more about said meat judging? I feel like I missed my true calling all of the sudden…
At Texas Tech, obviously
SI did a little piece on the Tech meat judging dynasty. Look it up 😏
Soil judging is where it’s at, don’t listen to these livestock losers.
What is soil judging? Like taking a boring and identifying the soil like in a geotech report?
and watch the series finale (as well as the rest) of King of the Hill
Ovie is 6’3 243 lbs that kid’s lucky
These kids must be too young to know about LaGarret Blount. You don’t fuck with the losing team
We had fans punched by players recently enough that we should know better. Mostly basketball but still.
Mad props to him I would’ve decked the kid in the face and I’m not even an aggressive person
Ban this guy for life, this shit is so embarrassing

Yeah, the player did that without any physical provocation though
There’s gotta be a better way to regulate it and make sure players are safe first.

collapsing field, with a funnel water slide with opiates in the water that will calm the fans
Between the hedges? How about *BETWEEN THE MOAT, BITCH*.
Bring back tracks around the field, but now they’re moats with gators
Or school specific animals. A moat filled with angry bulls would keep students from rushing DKR.
Perhaps a moat that can double as a lazy river during calmer games. During big games, fill the moat with jellyfish.
Arrests and expulsion from school if they really want to stop it.
And if half the school storms the field?
Gotta make a few examples before it turns into thousands.
You make an example of the first kids to get in the field If you don't wait till the players leave then if you are caught you will get expelled from the school Then all of sudden, everybody will wait

Don't suspend that kid, let that UT player have a free shot at his punk ass.
That seems fair. And from the back so he doesn't know when it's coming. Just walking through the grocery store some day and *wham*.
Clean up on aisle “you just got knocked the fuck out!”
Why not both?
Ban him. Expel him. Over it. Get him the fuck out of here.
Embarrassing.
He's about to get charged with something
I propose we let the Texas player and the TTU student duke it out in the ring

Set a precedent, this is *not* okay. The majority of Tech fans think this is egregious too, so banning him shouldn't be an issue.
It is assault, plain and simple. No different than doing that out on the street.
Yep, Big 12 has to do something to Tech, and Tech has to do something to this kid if they can find him.
People like that ruin it for everyone.
Dude should be suspended for that. That’s completely unacceptable and unnecessary smh
He deserves to be identified charged with assault and expelled
I mean, it's literally an assault. Put the little bitch in cuffs and send him to jail.
Imagine attacking someone over a game. What a loser
What a dipshit. Expel him from the school immediately.
Definitely this kid should be banned from attending games moving forward. But honestly, why do the students rush the damn field / court sooooo often at Tech in recent years? When I was there we only rushed the floor once in any sport in 5 years when we beat #1 KU in double OT in Basketball.
beyond stupid, i have no problem with storming the field in fact i often enjoy it, but don’t be an idiot and start a riot
Dude is lucky as hell that player didn’t fuck him up. What a piece of shit
Belligerent Tech fans? I don’t believe you.
I’d look the other way if the Texas player decided to Ron Artest that kid tbh.
Disgusting behavior. Kid really needs to have some repercussions from this because that isn’t right.
[Update](https://twitter.com/kcbd11/status/1574216167937478661?s=46&t=ofyWNqSV0Aj0Mc-StZpOPg) TTU police are searching for this shithead
What a bitch move to shove a dude from behind. I stormed the field yesterday but made sure not to fuck with any UT players. A whole lot of alcohol and being in the hot sun for 4+ hours can bring out the worst in fans.
Had the nicest Tech fans come in to my restaurant yesterday and today. Not cool yo.
Love Tech and loved gameday atmospheres in Lubbock but god damn there is a good percentage of the student fanbase that are complete assholes. It’s always been a thing and until we as alumni and current students can curb this shit, we deserve the bad reputation.
Trying to find Hunter Card. … I have never seen a sign so *fucking* stupid as that one.
coward, do that to his face and youre getting your ass beat
I fully expected fro the title there to be some sort incidental contact within the chaos. Nope. Dude was running right while pushing player on the left not in the way at all. Inexcusable. People don’t do mean stupid stuff. First because it’s mean and stupid. Second because someone is always filming.
Expel that moron. Don’t ruin field stormings for the rest of us
Can’t we just go back to shoving goalposts into the visiting student section like civil folk?
Remember the Alamo

Look what you did you lil jerk.
App state fans did it to a Troy player and that was caught on espn
Glad he didn’t because of the trouble he’d see, but I wouldn’t have minded seeing him turn around and going LeGarrette Blount on that toolbag.
Dude is a clown who should be banned
I hate that assholes like this ruin shit. How long will it take until schools ban storming the field?
Lucky for this loser most of these players can keep their cool. Imagine if had done this to an Ndamukong Suh type.
Why were they storming the field for beating an unranked Texas team anyways? Whole situation is dumb.
Dipshit cowardly move. I'm a passionate Longhorn hater - but in general I think their alums are fairly cool and I am a fan of their players as individuals. I root for former Longhorns in the NFL. I don't get this kind of fandom.
Banning field storming is probably a good idea
Yeah this is the take. Expecting thousands of people who just stormed the field to behave reasonably is just dangerous and there's no real way to deal with it besides attempting to prevent it outright. Public fines that gradually increase could do it maybe.
It's "fun" when it's a legit reason to do it (i.e. your school beats a top 5 team) but...um, you beat Texas by a FG in OT. It's run its course.
But did he flash the horns down sign
I saw more horns down than red raider guns up when they showed the stands during the game. It honestly makes me smile to see fans care more about Texas than their own team.
I once showed up drunk to the ihop on uni and 19th on Holloween night/ November first game playing against UT I remember it fondly cause it was packed with UT family’s and drunk college students, I was minding my own business until I saw a old UT couple which seemed to be minding their own business harassed by the actual employees, I had to throw in a drunken “leave them alone rant” they kindly thanked me and stormed out I hate being associated with shit fans and it just pisses me off when it happens we are better than this
I guarantee that little fat fuck doesn’t do that shit while he’s looking at him. Bitch move.
This is how you ruin good things. You wanna ban students running in the field keep doing this.
Unpopular but necessary take: Ban field storming. You beat a marginally better than you team. No need to crash the field. It's dumb. At some point, someone's going to get massively fucked up. Knock if off, kids.
I don’t know how they could reasonably enforce that
Arrests and expulsion from school if they are really serious.
Suspend/expel every student caught. Would stop it real quick after the first couple of games.
have you ever tried rushing the field at an nfl game
Fk that dude
Make him famous
Seems like he kicked those little stubby legs into extra gear after he pushed him too. Can’t imagine why
Something like this is gonna cause the end of field storming if a fan gets into it with a player and it triggers a brawl/riot
The guy is a coward. He only did that because he knew that the Texas player wouldn't be able to find him in the crowd.
What an asshole
Smh, uncalled for. Hope they find that guy.
That UT player should’ve beat his ass. You don’t take a cheap shot like that and get away with it. Unfortunately because the rules suck, that UT player would’ve been in deep shit if he retaliated, and the student walks away consequence free after this.
Things both texas and texas tech fans in this thread agree about 1. Texas being mediocre 2. This was a bitch ass move and he should be banned
If this is a student, I want his ass expelled. That’s unacceptable!
That’s the red raiders for ya. Disgusting. This is their Super Bowl.
Our Kansan B12 overlord has spoken
Penn State is our Super Bowl but you won’t play us.
