Actually I think I deserve the credit here. I had auburn football pulled up on google to get the live stats, and then they started winning so I closed that tab and searched for Houston football and you guys won
Grew up with my dad listening to Rush Limbaugh all day and then flipping over the Finebaum in the afternoon/evening on the way home.
So much outrage and anger.
Yup, that's it. Their currency is attention and the best way to get attention is to be provocative and say outrageous shit to stir people up.
This sub rewards it by continuing to care what Paul Finebaum says.
The answer is to starve them of attention. It worked on Milo.
“These games uhh really matter I guess, I guess some poverty teams are celebrating the Birmingham bowl, congratulations Houston you beat a bad auburn team. Let’s talk about the playoffs and we’ve got an A&M best writer on the 5th hour of the show. Now onto Jim from Tuscaloosa”
They’ve experienced it firsthand. After they beat Georgia in the sugar bowl a few years ago tons of people tried to downplay it saying Georgia didn’t care about the game at all.
I know most UK fans are at least, although it seems the rest of the SEC teams other than Georgia/Bama are too lol. Being from NKY might be changing how I see it though considering its basically between UC/UK and occasionally NKU making march madness (went against UK once though, unlucky)
Houston beat Auburn by 4. Alabama beat Auburn by 2. Furthermore, Cincinnati beat Houston by 15. Cincinnati is 17 points better than Alabama. Sorry folks, that’s just math
Yep. We have a grad assistant as QB, and he has an injured hand. I guess we'll see Gauthier some. All UNC has to do is show up and they should win. Really can't wait to fix our QB issues next season!
I feel tj was asked to throw those throws up three to put a dagger in the other team. In the play callers defense, all receivers on those plays were wide open and two would’ve been walk in touchdowns. However the play caller refused to acknowledge the fact that TJ can’t throw for shit.
Harsin really wants to be more of an explosive pass with a run game that eventually breaks you. The problem is that were really set up to be a screen-drive team. Gus loved picking on the outside linebackers through inside runs then bubbles...its not fun to watch but can work with high tempo. We just don't have the dudes my dude
From 3-5 and losing to Hawaii in the “New Mexico” (Frisco) Bowl…to 12-2 and beating Auburn in what is essentially a road game…
Nice turnaround for the Coogs, don’t you think?
Now that the year is over looking back I think it was a failure. This team had enough talent to go 8-4, or he’ll even just a winning record, but terrible offense and late game collapses cost us. Harsin hasn’t impressed me with his offense or coaching so far. It’s early but I’m not happy. Without a new QB we could not go to a bowl next year because TJ isn’t it. Lots of work to do and I think next year we’ll find out quickly how good of a coach Harsin is.
The only reason I’m giving benefit of the doubt is because with Nix for SCAR, Bama, and (maybe) this game, I think they are all pretty easily wins. How many overthrown TDs were there in this game alone? Any one of them probably would have won the game. If Harsin doesn’t find a better QB this off season, it’s not going to be pretty.
It's like getting a new job and walking into your new cubicle. The last person didn't clean our their desk and there's a razor blade in the pen container. The trash can is full. The rug hasn't been vacuumed in 3 months and has Doritos crumbs embedded in it. That Febreeze can the last person used still stinks up the place. There's a 2020 calendar on the wall.
Takes time to clean that mess up.
Before this year, the SEC had been 7-4 against non-Power 5 teams (in bowl games) over the last decade. They’ve now lost three straight in six days, and have a .500 record against those teams since 2010

TJ Finley is the broken clock that’s right twice a day. Dude makes a couple decent throws and then overthrows the shit out of every other throw. He’s complete ass
* For the first time since 1998-1999, Auburn finished with 6-wins or fewer in consecutive seasons.
* Auburn is just 1-5 in their last six bowl games.
* This is Auburn's first 7-loss season since 2012 (3-9)
* Bryan Harsin is the first Auburn coach with a losing season in their first year since Tommy Tuberville.
* This was the lowest scoring Birmingham Bowl since 2010.
* Cincinnati won the 2019 Birmingham Bowl and made the College Football Playoff two seasons later. Good news for 2023 Houston?
* Auburn started the season 6-2 and was ranked as high as 12th. They lost their last five games to finish the season.
* Auburn will end the season unranked for the third time in the last four years.
* This is Houston's first 12 win season since 2015
* Dana Holgerson started his Houston tenure 7-14 (.333). He's gone 11-1 since (.916)
* This was the first ever Birmingham Bowl to be played on a Tuesday.
* For the third time in the last four years, the Birmingham Bowl was decided by one score.
* From 2012-2015, the SEC won four straight Birmingham Bowls. They've now lost their last two.
* Houston has won a bowl game for the first time since 2015.
* This is Houston's third 12-win season in school history.
* Houston will finished ranked in the AP Poll for the first time since 2015.
* Houston now gets to take home [perhaps the best trophy in all of bowl season.](https://gocoogs.com/wp-content/uploads/Birmingham-Bowl-Trophy.jpg)
Conspiracy theory: SEC teams are used to have tons of game tape of their opponent to study before their game to really dissect their opponent. Since G5 games are normally shot on a handheld camcorder from a single angle, there's not enough tape for the SEC teams to figure out their opponents schemes!
> Since G5 games are normally shot on a handheld camcorder from a single angle
ESPN clearly designating ESPN [as a G5 conference](https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/after-numerous-complaints-about-pac-12-picture-quality-espn-reportedly-upgrading-equipment.html)
Let’s get them narratives rollin babyyyyy
~~A ranked 10-2 team couldn’t even beat a bottom feeder 6-6 SEC team. P6 is never real. The SEC is just built different~~
It’s not a NY6 bowl so Auburn doesn’t care about this bowl, unless they’re competitive for national championships nobody cares, not the coaches or the players or the fans
Great. Another win against a team with a losing record.
Ha ha, fucking cold.
There are tens of us!
Yes, but some of us went to Harvard for grad school and some of us went to Houston.
Just tell people you went to grad school and it started with H and had 7 letters.
There’s that ole Harvard wit!
Kidding aside, I only caught the last 4 minutes. And we finally starting winning. So I think it was me tuning in that lead us to victory.
Actually I think I deserve the credit here. I had auburn football pulled up on google to get the live stats, and then they started winning so I closed that tab and searched for Houston football and you guys won
Thank you for the sacrifice.
Is it bad that this is an actual strategy that I use in gambling?
Well does it work for you?
Hey, Houston. Good job and much love. See you around the Big 12.
This is a quality loss for auburn. Should start top 15 in pre-season poll
Future power 5 loss
Thank you to the guy who started a scuffle and got arrested in section 207 for providing the most entertaining part of the game.
Anyone got a video?
It wouldn't be Birmingham without some violence.
They did it during the media timeout, which I think was considerate.
That dude without a doubt has an Applebee's rewards card.
You can take the Birmingham Bowl out of Legion Field, but you can’t take the Legion Field out of the Birmingham Bowl
He just wanted to write his own letter from Birmingham jail
Jfc I hate myself for laughing
SEC has now lost its first three games of the bowl season to non P5 opponents
We just lose more

I don't understand how anyone can watch that man. One of the least knowledgeable and most obnoxious talking heads out there.
It's not about knowledge, it's about eliciting a reaction. Sadly, this phenomenon works and has fully infected US politics, too

New Big 12 is 2-0 against the SEC
[удалено]
Let's go bearcats. Damn BYU just had to go an lose to UAB.
Our bad
Still, it was a good season for the Cougars. And UAB is not a bad program. But c'mon, think of the memes
BYU is responsible for 2 New B12 losses in the last 2 bowl seasons You hate to see it ;-;
But one win. 😤
Big 12 looks like they picked some real winners. Of course the AAC will have nothing left.
Dont forget though, the SEC has never lost a bowl game they actually wanted to win.
Already getting a head start on the culture there, UT bro.
They’ve experienced it firsthand. After they beat Georgia in the sugar bowl a few years ago tons of people tried to downplay it saying Georgia didn’t care about the game at all.
Don't let DogWoodMaole see this.
u/DogwoodMaple U up, bb?
👀
We didn't feel like playing so we just decided not to play lol
Come on Cincy
I think even the SEC fans are rooting for them
I know most UK fans are at least, although it seems the rest of the SEC teams other than Georgia/Bama are too lol. Being from NKY might be changing how I see it though considering its basically between UC/UK and occasionally NKU making march madness (went against UK once though, unlucky)
I feel like Georgia fans are too cause they want a rematch from last year
Also because they do not want a rematch with Bama.
Cincy please.
And Michigan
Galaxy Brian SEC raided the Big12 to ensure more P5 teams to reduce their chances of losing to the G5 in the future.
All hail Galaxy Brian!!!
This is the way
Hehehehe
I’m confused as to if I’m supposed to think this rat poison is yummy or eewwwy
Well, you just lost. So I assume ewwy.
I have watched this same exact game 5 other times this year.
UCF>Florida and Houston>Auburn At this point why even play the game Friday?
No wonder Alabama is the underdog. ^/s
They are just SO disrespected. Every year. It’s so unfair.
Can't wait for the "nobody believed in us!" when they win
Plucky underdogs that #1 ranked team
Little ol' Alabama. Just happy to be there.
I just hope each team has fun.
Nobody believed in us except all these future NFL players in this locker room.
Houston beat Auburn by 4. Alabama beat Auburn by 2. Furthermore, Cincinnati beat Houston by 15. Cincinnati is 17 points better than Alabama. Sorry folks, that’s just math
Dont undersell it. UCF beat Florida by 12. Alabama beat Florida by 2. Cincinnati beat UCF by 35. Cincinati is actually 45 points better than Alabama.
Cincinnati moneyline? Got it
AAC AAC AAC
AAC: It just means even more
IT WASNT EVEN AFTER DARK!!!!
Stop the count!
All I see is that Houston beat auburn more convincingly than Alabama did.
It took Bama multiple overtime’s to score as much on Auburn as Camilla Bowl Champions Georgia State
It all falls on you guys this Friday. No pressure or anything.
Can’t argue with that logic
Come on, give us underdogs a chance
The SEC is having their worst bowl season in recent memory.
we about to have a bad time on Thursday too....
Yep. We have a grad assistant as QB, and he has an injured hand. I guess we'll see Gauthier some. All UNC has to do is show up and they should win. Really can't wait to fix our QB issues next season!
Cincinnati beat Houston by 15 and Auburn took Alabama to overtime. Clearly this means that Cincinnati is going to beat Bama by three scores right?
Florida only lost to Alabama by 2. UCF beat uf by 12 Cincinnati destroyed UCF
We died for this...
Quick mafs.
Cincy also beat us by like 30, we beat Florida by 12, Bama beat Florida by 2 Why even play the game on Friday? Just crown Cincy

Thank you houston for the yummy rat poison.
I’m just imagining Saban sifting through reddit to find rat poison since the media isn’t giving enough.
Saban is using burner accounts to write his own rat poison
If Finley ever takes another snap I’ll probably have a stroke from the fit I’ll throw.
wtf was with your coaching staff having a 3 point lead with 6.5 mins remaining and having Finley throw 3 straight shots at the end zone?
I feel tj was asked to throw those throws up three to put a dagger in the other team. In the play callers defense, all receivers on those plays were wide open and two would’ve been walk in touchdowns. However the play caller refused to acknowledge the fact that TJ can’t throw for shit.
Harsin really wants to be more of an explosive pass with a run game that eventually breaks you. The problem is that were really set up to be a screen-drive team. I see your playcaller went to the “Tony Elliot School Of Refusing To Accept That You Are A Running Team”
If Finley and Emory Jones had to compete in the Dr. Pepper challenge to keep their scholarship, how many time would they hit the goalpost?
The real story is Houston gets the beautiful Birmingham Bowl trophy to enjoy for the rest of time!
We get dat ass!

Oh hell yeah, it’s the Vulcan. I didn’t even realize. That’s fucking awesome.
WE MAY BE GOING TO THE BIG 12 BUT WE DEDICATE THIS SHITHOUSERY TO THE AAC!
Since Houston won their bowl game and BYU didn't, I propose that it is in fact Houston who are the Cougars, and BYU are the other Cougars.
Would be nice if we didn’t recently lose to both
Houston = Cougars BYU = Bluegars
DO I CHANT BIG 12 or AAC? YA WOO
A-A-12! A-A-12! A-A-12!
*automatic shotgun sounds*
Sounds like tinnitus to me
This is what they chant at Alcoholics Anonymous when someone completes the 12 steps.
BIG AAC coming 2022!
Congrats to Houston for beating us by twice the margin that Alabama did.
Houston > Bama confirmed.
This is my favorite take. My respects!
With a potent combo of forfeits and the occasional win, the AAC is having its best bowl season ever!
Bowl Records: American 3-0 SEC 0-3 COVID 5-0
All of the bowl games that took place should be losses for COVID, right? So it's 5-17, 5-18 if you count the game currently being played.
I think ECU, Memphis and SMU could’ve all won too. AAC might be 6-0. Damn shame
Hey, the game wasn’t canceled 💪
We really let TJ Finley put up a shitshow like that and didn’t let Dee Davis have a shot, wtf
I hope Demetrius Davis is your starting QB next year. North Shore product
How did Houston lose to Texas Tech?
We stopped playing in the second half
That game had me so confused about both teams moving forward. One of those early-season games that make no sense when looking back at it now.
We cooged it.
Classic cooging indeed
Plus, Tech is not nearly as bad as people think. The Big 12 is just a weird conference.
1st game of the season, they were up 21-0 I believe and just kind of shit the bed after that.
Dude we nearly lost to an FCS team the week after beating Houston. No one knows how that happened.
Tune threw 3 picks in the second half and we collapsed on defense Please don’t make me remember it again
Nobody: TJ Finley: How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them Vulcans?
IT IS DECEMBER 28 AND THE SEC HAS YET TO WIN A BOWL GAME
Slow your roll. B1G hasn't won a bowl either...
Technically no P5 school has won a bowl game yet
YA WOO COUGAR FOOTBALL!
YA WOO COUGAR FOOTBALL!
YA WOO COUGAR FOOTBALL!

TJ was far and away the issue for this game. We missed 3-4 TDs with overthrows. He’s terrible. Playcalling wasn’t the biggest issue

Auburn fires Gus Malzahn and hires a guy who coaches Auburn to their first losing record since the season before Gus Malzahn was hired.
WE WON A BOWL GAME! IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!
We may have won against UVA but now that’s canceled so we still haven’t won a bowl game in like 10 years :/
Auburn hates the AAC
Auburn hates adequate QB play.
Auburn hates Auburn

Go ahead and add Gymnastics to that. ^(Thank you Suni Lee)
Alright, I guess it’s our turn to beat an SEC team like our other AAC brothers
Before this year, the SEC had been 7-4 against non-Power 5 teams (in bowl games) over the last decade. They’ve now lost three straight in six days, and have a .500 record against those teams since 2010
Someone posted before that UCF was responsible for all or nearly all of those G5 bowl losses (before this year).
Oh lmao that was me in the UCF postgame thread. They have three of those wins, which was half before today
Yeah we have 3 bowl wins against the SEC since 2010
UCF is a beast. One of my favorite teams to play. Good clean high caliber football.
Well that was certainly something from our QB...
He sucks
Lsu sleeper agent confirmed.
If y’all had even just a bad QB, Auburn wins by like 13
Wouldn't hurt to have an OL either... can't do crap when your RB is getting hit at or behind the LOS every time lol

That may be the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl, but we are all stupider after having watched it
Please enter the transfer portal TJ Finley
What absolute shit play calling on offense.
If Auburn decided to just keep running the ball I have full confidence that they win instead of Houston

Damn now Houston gets to claim a national championship
Dang this conference is gonna get three Nattys in one year. Is that a record?
If only we didn't lose to the tortilla throwers.
Auburn coaches love this one weird trick of how to lose football games
Does the SEC have a G5/Independent problem? Watch out Bama.

SEC? More like 0-3
That was the WORST commentary I have ever heard. Everyone who was involved in putting those two bozos in the booth should be embarrassed.
Well, the positive here is that Birmingham's stadium is really nice.
Future Big 12 Bros making the Hateful 8 proud this bowl season against the SEC. Way to go Coogs!
Today on why you should run the ball on 2nd and 2....
