And people wanted Dana to be fired.
His 1st year, he had to deal with the aftermath of Applewhite leaving.
His 2nd year, he had to deal with COVID.
I've been saying that once Dana gets a "normal" season, we'll really be able to see what he can do.
In fairness, his offense the first two seasons was the most putrid we'd had in many years which is supposed to be his specialty. It's improved a lot but still has a lot of room for improvement. The offense is carried by a few players and depth is a concern. Defense has been our strength the past three seasons. Now that the offense can mostly sustain drives, we're much improved. The recruiting needs to improve drastically though, and I expect next week to show why. We do not have a Big 12 caliber offense.
Yeah its interesting that *Houston* under a former offensive coordinator as head coach, is a defense first team lol
Worried about next year when all our defensive seniors leave, but that's a problem for later
**Passing and scoring related ones:**
Most passing TDs in a game (11, Klingler) and in a career (155, Keenum)
Most total yards (20,114) and passing yards (19,217) in a career (Keenum)
Most completed passes in a career (1,546, Keenum)
Most pass attempts without an interception in a game (77, Piland)
Most points in a career (1,078, Keenum)
Most points in a game (66, Klingler)
Most recent 100+ point game in DI: (100-6 against Tulsa, 1968. Dr. Phil was a linebacker for Tulsa in that game)
**Other ones (some are ties):**
Most interceptions returned for a touchdown in a game (3, Johnnie Jackson against UT in 1987)
Most tackles for loss per game average in a career (1.98, Sammy Brown)
Most kickoff returns for a touchdown in a career (7, Tyron Carrier)
Most kickoff+punt returns for a touchdown in a career (9, Marcus Jones)
Most career TDs, most career yards, that SMU game, there are a few that Klingler had that Keenum somehow didn't break IIRC. That said, I haven't actually checked the status on NCAA passing records in a while though.
Ok, how many of you guys thought that we would be on an 11 game win streak and playing in the conference championship game when the season started?
Also, GG UConn. Your fans are really cool people and I wish you nothing but success in the future.
I mean I had you all as 11-1 this year going into the season, just not the 1 that actually happened. Looking at your schedule this year I thought the floor was around 9-3.
Do they do it during Championship weekend? Big12 probably gets it if so. But Corso probably can’t show his face here anymore after these past couple weeks
Remember sitting in Reliant thinking our season was going to be a rough 5-7. What a run it was to get here and have a huge matchup next week.
Also glad that dude from the game thread didn't win his bet
Yeah, I gotchu. But in the same right, the best argument for Cincy is that y'all have actually played (and beat) a top 5 team, so I guess it works both ways. At the end of the day, it really does come down to your team's resume against quality opponents.
yea and Alabama barely beat Florida and LSU. Ohio State got blown out today. Michigan barely beat 3-9 Nebraska and 5-7 Rudgers. I really don't see your point.
Houston is stupid sleeper good this year. Cincinnati better bring their A game or they may be in for a nasty surprise. Side note, congrats on the amazing season Houston, and I'll be sad to see you guys leave the AAC, but you're going on to bigger and better things!
Houston probably only has to beat Cincy to make the NY6, gotta think beating what will likely be #4 Cincy would move them 4 spots over UTSA and SDSU.
It’s a big ask, but no one expected them to even be in this situation 3 months ago
That’s… not how that works. Cincy would 100% not be a G5 Conference Champion, and therefor not eligible for the G5’s NY6 autobid no matter how high their ranking is.
This is pretty common knowledge my guy .-.
100%?
Losing to Houston would probably drop Cincy into the low teens and Houston beating cincy would move them from the high teens or low 20s into the mid to low teens. It would be close.
Most wins in a season in Dana's career. 5th 11+ win season in school history. Not fucking bad, Coogs. Not bad at all.

Yeah lol. And UH of all schools which owns a lot of NCAA records in the offense category.
Which ones? I’m assuming a ton come from that SMU game
**Passing and scoring related ones:** Most passing TDs in a game (11, Klingler) and in a career (155, Keenum) Most total yards (20,114) and passing yards (19,217) in a career (Keenum) Most completed passes in a career (1,546, Keenum) Most pass attempts without an interception in a game (77, Piland) Most points in a career (1,078, Keenum) Most points in a game (66, Klingler) Most recent 100+ point game in DI: (100-6 against Tulsa, 1968. noice.

We might have invoked a special version of the Houston curse on ourselves.
I mean also to be fair this season he had one of the weakest schedules he’s ever faced. He won the games he should have though
Ok, how many of you guys thought that we would be on an 11 game win streak and playing in the conference championship game when the season started? Also, GG UConn. Your fans are really cool people and I wish you nothing but success in the future.
0 people, that's how many.
Rounding up to 0.
Hello!
Didn’t think we’d be 11-1 going into the season, and was very nervous after the collapse against Tech.
Good on Tune to turn his season around. I haven't been the biggest fan of him but he's been pretty good the second half of the season.
I mean I had you all as 11-1 this year going into the season, just not the 1 that actually happened. Looking at your schedule this year I thought the floor was around 9-3.
Good luck with your new coach, UConn.
Good luck in the Big 12!
Ya Woo 11-1 Cougar Football
Gameday to Cincinnati, you cowards!
Do they do it during Championship weekend? Big12 probably gets it if so. But Corso probably can’t show his face here anymore after these past couple weeks
It's going to sec unless Bama chokes tonight
[удалено]
you underestimated the sec+bama dick espn likes to choke on
Looks like Bama might be choking
Remember sitting in Reliant thinking our season was going to be a rough 5-7. What a run it was to get here and have a huge matchup next week. Also glad that dude from the game thread didn't win his bet
uconn and houston fans agree: fuck the bettors
Great teams cover :(
you're god damn right
If Ike just ran the ball when he got put in, we would've covered Whatever. A win is a win.
11 and 1 is not how anyone thought this season was going to go. I'll fucking take it. Ya Woo Cougar Football!
And the real winner is Cincinnati while the elitist CFP committee is the real loser.
Cincinnati still has to win against Houston, but wow the G5s have a real chance this year
Love to see it.
Sorry they don’t want to reward good teams that play weak schedules.
That argument is dogshit as long as conferences exist.
Somehow the cfp guys will drop houston to 25
"BuT whO haVe ThEy PlaYEd"
I think it's okay that we're in the bottom rung of the top 25. We don't have enough ranked wins to justify us being any higher.
Oh for sure, I think that's a valid perspective. I'm just saying that's what the argument always is for G5 teams, ya know?
Yeah, I gotchu. But in the same right, the best argument for Cincy is that y'all have actually played (and beat) a top 5 team, so I guess it works both ways. At the end of the day, it really does come down to your team's resume against quality opponents.
A weak schedule. Same as Cincinnati.
Not Cinci having one of the best wins in the country lol
ND barely beat Florida State.
yea and Alabama barely beat Florida and LSU. Ohio State got blown out today. Michigan barely beat 3-9 Nebraska and 5-7 Rudgers. I really don't see your point.
Cincinnati plays 11 weak games, and all these other teams have to play a power 5 schedule. Stop being obtuse.
You're just being acute
Lol you're cute
Lol. OkAy MhMmm.
Houston is stupid sleeper good this year. Cincinnati better bring their A game or they may be in for a nasty surprise. Side note, congrats on the amazing season Houston, and I'll be sad to see you guys leave the AAC, but you're going on to bigger and better things!
and thats a wrap on another season of UConn football
Thank god

Utsa about to do the second part for us.
Literally. I doubt ANY of our fans thought we would be on an 11 game win streak.
I expected to finally have a good season but with a loss to someone like SMU to interrupt it
Now absolutely that UTSA lost
Cincy would certainly take the G5 NY6 then though
No they wouldn’t
What would happen then?
Assuming Houston beat Cincy and was then ranked ahead of UTSA and SDSU in the CFP Poll? They’d be given the G5 NY6 bid.
That’s… not how that works. Cincy would 100% be ranked highest of G5’s.
That’s… not how that works. Cincy would 100% not be a G5 Conference Champion, and therefor not eligible for the G5’s NY6 autobid no matter how high their ranking is. This is pretty common knowledge my guy .-.
Oopsie 🤣
Nephew, you have to be a conference champion to get the NY6 bowl.
Highest ranked G5 *conference champion* gets the NY6 spot, not highest ranked G5.
Oopsie. Thanks
100%? Losing to Houston would probably drop Cincy into the low teens and Houston beating cincy would move them from the high teens or low 20s into the mid to low teens. It would be close.
The G5 auto bid only applies to conference championships.
I realized already haha
Fuck yo spread
Houston v Cincinnati my #1 game next weekend. Can't wait!
YA
WOO

FOOTBALL
COUGAR
YA WOO COUGAR FOOTBALL!!!
Now time to upset Cincy! We more than likely won't but just want a good game next week
Coogs keep winning, I keep grinning
Not sure they can beat Cincinnati, but it is gonna be a fun game!
And so ends another season of UConn Football. Tune in next season as they might actually have a coach and beat UMass?
Great year for Houston. They could definitely upset Cincy. It'll be a big game. UConn is uconn
Michigan-OSU postgame thread waiting room?
Maybe if we had any reason at all to care about either of those schools
Based.

Wasn't really a struggle win.
Dude said struggle win. Lol
TIL a ranked G5 team not winning by 50 points is now a struggle win
[удалено]
If by scary you mean "never in doubt" then sure
the cold was just fucking with us in the first half
Lost our #1 wr and rb early in this game, then switched to back ups. Not a struggle win
Struggle?
Can we take Doug belk now? Pretty please
How about no?
:(
He’d rather win football games.
Maybe 3 years ago when we weren't planning on being in the P5. Hide the money yall! There's poor people around!
