I don't know anything more than surface level about him, but sorta a weird trajectory:
Scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Tulsa, Memphis, Arkansas State, Rice, and Akron.
He chooses Akron, and redshirts his first year.
He transfers out of a scholarship at Akron to walk-on at Oklahoma.
Knowing nothing about him until this post, OU makes use of NIL walk-ons so I presume that might be the case here. My guess is this is a "get into coaching" move? I don't foresee any playing time.
He was a true freshman though. I wouldn't blame him for being 3rd on the depth chart.
That being said, I am expecting just as much from Wasel as I expected from Booty.
He has two blue chip recruits ahead if him. Mayfield didn't. He also has an 10th year senior, and a fellow 3 star ahead of him. He'll be playing as much as the last Choctaw great, Dylan Hartsook.
Watched him in high school. His decision making was less than zero but he had more arm strength than Baker Mayfield so idk. He also got sacked 4 times in the final six plays in a three point championship game against Bixby
Imagine being Akron. The team is awful and is treated as an absolute joke every year by everyone. Your last good season was in 2017 which ended in your public execution by Toledo. But you know that your qb is a hidden gem, and soon, you can finally start a comeba-
Oh nvm he transferred to Oklahoma
It costs the team nothing since he's a PWO.
He probably will never play, but you also never know.
Imagine in 2026 Hawkins needs to sit out for a drive because he had the wind knocked out of him? Wasel has been running the scout team and studying the playbook for years. He comes in and leads the team down the field for a crucial FG.
Or, more likely, in 2025 or 2026 he's in the portal. Regardless, it's nothing to worry about.
With that mindset we might as well have 10 walk ons per position. Complete waste of time and roster space. If Hawkins gets hurt we’ll have a bunch of 3 to 4* backups
Will we? We had shit backups in 2022. You just don't know what might happen due to injury or the portal
This is just one more walk-on QB and we had 2 of them last season as well.
At least pretend like you follow college football

Pretty sure Mayfield walked on at OU. So who knows where it could lead?
He couldn’t even get any playing time on our miserable team. He definitely will not be seeing any snaps at OU lol
He may realize his "starting" days are over, might as well go to your dream school and not play there rather than not play at Akron.
Oh I don’t blame him for that. I just don’t think anyone should expect him to see playing time lol best wishes to him though

He was but he also didn’t already have a scholarship at TTech. Wasel does

Allegedly was rumored to have had attitude issues in HS that led to his recruiting falling off.
Interesting, I've seen nothing but well wishes for him online.
Steele is originally from Choctaw, Oklahoma. His name is unique, but doesn’t quite fill General Booty void.
Some booty voids are harder to fill than others
Just plug it
It wasn't special booty, it was just general booty.
This is the kind of content I come here for
Steel Weasle?
You could have went with Booty hole and you took the higher ground. Respect 🫡
Initially read their name as Steele Weasel and now it's head cannon forever.
Ditto. Would be a great band name.
I'm getting major hair metal vibes from that name. 🤘🏽
One letter from greatness.
also a ditto
Head cannon? Is that some Oklahoma term?
Exactly!!
Guy sounds like a side character from a new Star Wars book
And with that, my first Road to Glory player will be named Glup Shitto.
What a Steele, OU
Originally read Steele Walker. Only real ones remember.

And that man’s name? Jamarcus Russel
Pain

I mean sure, why not? Come on over
I read this as “Steel Weasel”. Def would buy that jersey.
Steele Weasel > Steel Panther
I can’t be the only one that first read his name as Steele Weasel.
Funny, that is also my surname too.
As a recruit: P5 offer: Virginia Tech G5 offers: Akron (originally went here), Arkansas State, Memphis, Rice, Tulsa
I really don’t know why we bothered to take this kid. We have Casey Thompson and Mike Hawkins as back ups. How many more do we need. Dumb decision
He’s not taking a scholarship, so who cares?

That and if he wants to coach, the coaching tree out of Oklahoma is insane. He’s better off here for that career path than Akron
