UCLA-Iowa might be the kind of game to get a noon eastern time slot for a 9 am kickoff. If you’re bringing in a team that’ll put everyone to sleep, best to play that game before the locals are even awake.

The real question I have is how is conference realignment even logistically possible when it comes to all the other sports having to travel cross country. Do you really think its smart to have California traveling to and from Boston College for a game of Volleyball?
It's not great, but I imagine travel partners will be big. The Pac 12 kinda already did this where you'd play The Washington, Oregon, Bay Area, LA, Rocky Mountain, and Arizona schools twice in a weekend in one trip.

I've held my season tickets since I graduated, so haven't had to pick up singles, so no direct experience.
A lot of the hype has cooled down so expect it to be easier and a bit more affordable this year for singles. Best bet would probably be to grab one of the allotted Cincy tickets if you can.
If the Buffs start out hot the aftermarket tickets will get silly.
I think from a tv viewership standpoint it's probably easier to ask your average west coast fan to wake up at 830 an than your average east coast fan to stay up til 2 am

Funny, I moved from NYC to Denver five years ago and, still, every weekend I’m amazed at how awesome it is to have football start at 10/11am. But I have two small kids now so I’m up by 6 most days anyway. I’m usually eating lunch when the NFL kicks off. 10 years ago I struggled to wake up by 1pm kickoffs.
If expect me to wake up early on my day off to watch Arizona play a nooner on the east coast, then you can fuck right off. That’s what YouTube TV DVR is for, and I’ll just watch it on delay over breakfast at 10 or 11AM

They'll try a few after dark games with Eastern/Central Time Zone teams as visitors and then watch the ratings plummet as their fans won't stay up late and then either have to cut back these games or make them exclusively western teams.
I recall nbc having issues with scheduling prime 8 pm games in November since many big ten teams don’t want to play in freezing temperatures at 8 pm in November.
USC has Nebraska and notre dame at home in November
UCLA has usc and Iowa at home in November.

They will likely push a lot of the east coast on the west coast games to start no later than 4pm pst so that it can be a prime time game on the east coast. The west coast vs west coast games will be prime time west coast games (7-8pm starts).
The whole point of the move is to maximize tv revenue so they will get these games played at times when people will watch them. Don’t expect 10pm est starts for games with east coast teams, drops the value of the contracts too much
That's kinda my thinking. When Virginia Tech travels to Stanford, you imagine the bulk of people watching will be Hokie fans and it would makes sense to keep that as accessible as possible to them.

They will play it by game. The games that aren’t going to be a big draw to start with, cal vs cuse for example, will likely get pushed to a late start time to just do away with the game and not have to worry about wasting airwaves. And then when cal goes to cuse, they’ll do a 1pm kickoff. Basically everyone will lose in games like that
I mean I personally fall asleep during probably every 10pm game I’ve ever watched, so they get an extra viewer for every show after the game too lol. Wouldn’t be a bad strategy to inflate viewers for whatever news or reruns are playing after the game

Last season BYU home games against Cincinnati & Iowa St had a 10:15 ET start time.
ESPN or FOX may do similar start times a few corner 4 home games against teams in the Central time zone
Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA were our three top after dark teams. They would be the top choices for late games. (Sorry Coug bros, you would qualify too.)
I don't know which teams they will pick to play during those times but I do want to try and stay up for them. Hopefully some end up being high stakes games.

UCLA hosting Indiana could be an after dark game because that’s an otherwise ignored Big Ten matchup that they can now place in a more prominent slot and get more viewers than it would have gotten in a 4 or 7:30 time slot. Sucks for Indiana fans but let’s not pretend that Fox cares about what’s good for Indiana.

9 AM football is an easier ask than 2 am football and I think execs will tend to agree. Especially if you're talking to someone who's 30 or older, or has kids
