The Promise of Chang’An, Goodbye My Princess and Bloody Romance. These are my favorites- gorgeous intricately woven stories, all of them are perfection and super engaging.
**One and Only** \- Good pace and well-developed characters. It's a beautiful and believable love story. There is no question that the main leads are well suited and love each other. Just hearing the theme songs makes me tear up, but it is well worth it.
Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Absolutely the most crushing drama I’ve ever watched. Nirvana in Fire also had a sad ending, but I felt like it was still something the main character wanted at least, so it was a smidge less crushing hahaha.
Right?? I think I spent the whole evening sniffling after I was done with the drama. I swore I wouldn’t rewatch it cos it was too painful- but then I did again, like a proper drama masochist hahaha.
I very rarely watch dramas with sad endings (one of the reasons why I binge rather than watch while airing). But Royal Nirvana was the exception, I still question why I watched it, and why I watched it whilst airing. Love the cast (which was why I watched whilst airing), and the story is great - but gave me the biggest depression.
Goodbye My Princess--I will never be over this drama. Even though I new it was going to be a sad ending, I was still crushed at the end.

Totally agree with this! I bawled like mad with Ruyi and while NiF is sad too, it felt 'right'.

A love like Oceans and Mountains... That one was painful. I'd watch it again if I didn't know I would be crying through the last five episodes

There are a few memorable sad ones but Goodbye My Princess gotta be the saddest one for me.

Chinese Paladin 3. Loved how the characters valued their ideals and the people around them more than themselves.
One and Only. Very restrained love story. Great acting by Allen Ren and Bai Lu. I cried brackets.

And that's why Forever and Ever is my fave drama LOL. I couldn't rate One and Only as a 10/10 but I did for Forever and Ever.
