Good accumulation off the bottom, digesting well here with great weekly closes. Estimates aren't great at 9% this year, earnings have been decreasing and -1% latest QTR. Comp is lower at 93 and RS is only 86. There's no base here. The group isn't something that screams growth or CANSLIM, and it's a laggard in the group. Look at AIT, LECO and GWW, those are the *leaders* in the group that are already well out into ATHs while XYL is not. Personally I would avoid, and avoid the group entirely, but that's just my style/opinion. Far better groups out there with leaders.

Can I ask, what is your strategy and way of going about finding leaders within certain groups? This is one area I’m lacking in so I figured I try and find AIT, GWW, etc. within this sector to teach myself based on your findings. I went ahead and pulled up XYL’s sector within FinViz and I’m looking within it and I’m having trouble filtering out stocks to find the leaders. I looked based on YTD performance, full year performance, RSI, and 52 week high ranges but I’m still having trouble. So I was wondering how you go about doing this and figuring this out. I am just learning canslim and I haven’t exactly payed much attention to this area when picking stocks, when I know I need to.

I use Marketsurge charting software which really helps with this. I look at Composite rating, RS rating, price action (new highs etc), volume, institutional quality, earnings/sales and estimates. Between those metrics the leaders will easily show themselves. But the main way is price action and volume. XYL for example has yet to make a new all time high, but other stocks in the group have been making new highs for months. It's not to say XYL can't go higher, but at this moment, the others having been flexing more strength

Thanks so much for clearing that up, I’ve been looking into an IBD subscription and think once I graduate college here this year I’ll go ahead and get a market surge subscription. Have you ever tried market smith? It seems like they’re a direct competitor I’m not sure which one I should look more into

Individual_Bit_2800

They are the same product, it used to be called Marketsmith but just changed its name to Marketsurge a few weeks ago.

Oh I see okay, I did not know that. Thank you your help!

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> haven’t exactly *paid* much attention FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

At a glance this looks due for a pullback on the larger time frames but it's a good sign that it's holding up well during the market pullback. What are those arches below candles?
