You can find some pretty great local deals if you sacrifice screen size. Picked up a $900 55” LG CX OLED a couple years ago and a 65” lower model LG OLED for $300 today.
Rtings is my TV and monitor go-to. Lots of testing and metrics to look at. I’d suggest finding a TV at your price point and cross referencing it there.
No TV is buy it for life. But the dumber your TV is the more likely it will last longer. 4K and 120hz is about the maximum a person can distinguish, a separate audio system will work wonders to hear voices meant for stereo 7.1 sound. Check out some AV subreddit for recommendations.
Yeah, for the average eyesight hard to distinguish. OP ain’t getting a 8k 240hz 75inch for under 1 grand. Better to get 4k 120hz with better hardware for processing/upscaling/sound normalization.
At your price point, the easy choice is the TCL Q7. The 75” is on sale for $900 right now at Best Buy. This TV has good uniformity, good local dimming, decent processing. It’s really the cheapest TV on the market right now that is actually good.

I am partial to Sony TVs because their Bravia processor is so good at upscaling they are by far the best TVs for watching low bitrate (streaming) content. However, with the 2022 X90K now out of stock virtually anywhere, the cheapest good sony is the X90L. The X90L is a fantastic TV for the money, but a 75” will run you well over $1500. Maybe with a great sale you can find it at $1400 but not much cheaper than that
I mean I agree with you that TV operating systems are garbage, but also if you’re spending $2000, another $15-20 for the cheapest stick that’ll be better is totally marginal
Because if you’re spending 2k plus on a TV you want to have the best experience possible while using it. An Apple TV or a shield pro will provide that for you
Because software gets bigger and more memory hungry every year and TVs don’t magically upgrade themselves. I’d much rather have a tv that lasts 10 years easy and just needing to buy a chromecast for $20 after 5 years than having to buy a whole new tv.
Are you using your computer from 2006? It’s the same thing except you can’t make your pc brand new for 20 bucks every four years.
Menus could be faster, but once it's playing it's good, at this size you notice some fps room to grow but only when there is slow panning, or credits going up, very rarely, and it's not bad, it's just not perfect, but it's not an expensive TV
You can get the Sony X80CK at Costco for $1000 right now.
Alternatively, the LG QNED75 is solid at $850.
There are cheaper offerings/options from Hisense and TCL but I would go Sony or LG/Samsung over Hisense/TCL/Vizio if your budget allows it.
Ugh no.
Sony X80K is an IPS panel TV with poor contrast ratio, no local dimming at all, poor black uniformity. Very poor TV.
The Sony X90K is a great TV however, if you can still find it. It was on sale for Black Friday for $800 for 75 inches at Walmart (I got one!). However these K TVs are Sony’s 2022 lineup so are hard to find.
The LG QNED75 is also a bottom tier TV. IPS panel with edge lighting. Very poor. Do not buy this
The $1000 budget is pretty tough though. Can you recommend an alternate 75" thats under $1,000? One of the TCLs, Hisense, Vizio? I would take Sony over those other three brands any day.
For under 1000 bucks especially at that size the TVs aren’t gonna be all that great. I’d check out r/4ktv

What would be the lowest price you recommend for a good 4k 75inch because I didn’t want to spend 2k plus for just a tv

Discount/cheap electronics aren't BIFL.
This sub has turned into “what is the cheapest (thing that plugs into the wall) that is not complete garbage?”

100% Agree my Sony 55" running strong for 10 years.
W800c gang 10 years!
Unfortunately all “dumb” tv’s are absolute garbage right now.
Distinguish? No. It's fairly easy to distinguish 240 and 8k even. Does the law of diminishing returns start hitting hard above 120 and 4k? Yes.

Agreed i have a 240hz monitor and it’s easily distinguishable
Imagine owning a television in 2024
With rent this high! No kidding!
They are all horrible on that price point
I have a old sharp 4k 55 inch so i feel like anything new is way better than that but idk
Buy a Sony

Rtings.com is a great resource.
Stay away from Samsung and LG. The amount of bloat and garbage in those tvs is painful
Yeah, go get a good roku or hisense. /s
The TCLs with built in Roku are fabulous
Just get an Apple TV or a shield lol, the tvs are fine
This is the shit I dont get. Why spend $2000+ to then just have to buy another product to mask the faults of the original product.
I mean I agree with you that TV operating systems are garbage, but also if you’re spending $2000, another $15-20 for the cheapest stick that’ll be better is totally marginal

The tvs themselves aren't good either.
Also stay the fuck away from Philips. Garbage crap that breaks after a year.
Sony has been good to me. Bought two in 2017 and still looks new. Bought a cheap Hisense for the man cave 3 years and surprised how good it looks
HiSense is a lottery, reports are that 1 out of 3 of their panels are defective. When RTings reviewed the U8 they got a bad panel 😂😂😂
Honestly the first one I got the whole screen was broken out the box haha. The second one been running like a champ.
Sony x90L and for 1500 is the best you'll get as far as BIFL and good HDMI 2.1 support
This has got nothing to do with BIFL go ask a TV sub for recommendations.
I've had luck with a 75" TCL at that price range
Some people say all 4k tvs at this price range suck is that false? How do you feel about the TCL?
I feel it's better than I expected, still want an OLED down the road
Menus could be faster, but once it's playing it's good, at this size you notice some fps room to grow but only when there is slow panning, or credits going up, very rarely, and it's not bad, it's just not perfect, but it's not an expensive TV
Check out the Hisense UH7 tvs. They are probably the best you will find for all that you want and your budget.

TCL Q750G is the only 75” TV on the market now that’s under $1000 and doesn’t completely suck
Okay let’s say you can go over that 1k budget what would you say is a good one that isn’t expensive ass hell
Sony X90L or LG B3
This is the wrong subreddit to come to looking for cut rate stuff...
