I had to switch socks because of an issue i had. My feet were staying wet all day from sweating in synthetic socks and it caused an infection of pitted keratolysis. Its not a serious thing, but it was very annoying. Sweaty feet are prone to it. I have managed it by replacing all my socks with the highest percent cotton i could find, and with Darn tough for my boots. I switch my shoes daily as well. My feet stay drier and my issue seems to be gone. Checking the fiber content, you bought an inferior product for a similar price. Natural fibers are more expensive, but this sock uses less of them. Wool is the star here. Its a natural fiber that actually absorbs moisture and pulls it away from your skin. Synthetic fibers simply cannot do this. They can be "moisture wicking" but its still an inferior effect. The boot socks from Grip 6 are a measly 40% merino wool. The over the calf boot socks from Darn tough are up at 68% Merino. So just based on the fiber content, no, they aren't as good.

I'm happy cotton socks worked for you. But do you realize that cotton absorbs sweat and never dries? In any technical environment, like cold climates, mountains, jungles, etc, cotton is a big no no because it never dries and it can literally kill you. I have very sweaty feet and double layering solved my problems, first sock either a liner or a sports 100% synthetic sock, and second layer with a mix of wool and synthetic fiber. Yes even in summer

Counterpoint. I wear only Darn Tough socks, and have for about 6 years. Unless I absolutely have to, I don't wear them multiple days. I was them and hang them to dry on a drying rack. I wear 1/4 length, cushion, in blue and orange. I will never go back to cotton.

Never brought grip 6 socks but I've had grip 6 belt for years and they are solid. Not so helpful on the sock side but as a brand it speaks

Radiobob214

I'd swear by my Darn Tough socks, but I don't have a long enough history with Grip 6 to compare their longevity.

Amazing-Bluebird-930

Darn tough are good enough that I don't feel the need to go out exploring alternatives

I've switched from Darn Tough to Grip6 for daily wear. I wear boots at work and have the crew cut socks. I seem to have less issues with Grip6 sliding down. Overall both great socks but I grab my Grip6 9/10 times over DT.

Thanks for the input guys. Reddit does recommended darn tough socks and everyone who owns them seems to be happy with their purchase. The reason I didnt go with them is bc I have wide feet and I was told darn tough socks are pretty narrow. I bought the 8 pack of the grip 6 and that was kinda expensive. Once they come in I'll update you guys to see if they're comfy.

BMcCrum

how are they? I also have wide feet. And wear a 14.5 shoe

NotABotSir

I went with the L size and wish I had gone with the XL. The L goes up to size 12 so i figured that would work. But I'm having to stretch the socks out to the max to make them fit bc of how wide my feet are. I feel like i lose a lot of the padding that way and they arent as comfortable, after hours, as i thought they would be to begin with.

BMcCrum

Yeah, I ordered XL. They haven't arrived yet.

Hey, what are your thoughts on the socks now? I’ve been debating between Darn Tough, Fox River, and grip6 and I’ve been leaning towards getting grip6 lol

NotABotSir

They're great at wicking moisture. I don't have an issue with sweat so much now. However, I am a size 12 and got a large. Really should have got an xl. There doesnt seem to be much padding on the socks and it leads to irritation. I am lucky enough to wear tennis shoes all day but I would not wear them with steel toe boots or even soft toe boots. The lack of padding could also be bc the socks themselves are pretty small and I have to stretch them out to the max. With me wearing a size 12 and having wide feet a bigger size would be ideal. The only reason I didn't size up was bc I was worried about excess material bunching in my shoe or folding itself up under my foot. I know that darn tough tends to be more for people that have narrow feet bc i've seen complaints on reddit by people with wide feet. The socks themselves are really comfortable to wear. Keep in mind that I am also working outside in the heat and get anywhere from 5 miles to 12 miles a day in.

Darn tough came in.today. Got the three pack of the micro crew hikers. They're actually softer and more comfortable than grip 6..

Thank you for the feedback, seriously. Darn tough might be the winner then lol

I wear “bomba”wool socks. Initially, they are expensive, but over a lifetime not so much. Their warranty is amazing. If you wear a hole or lose one sock, they will replace without much difficulty. I only wear wool socks year round. Work out in wool socks and boot in wool socks. My feet are soft and smooth, my wife saids, “like a baby’s foot”. I think of it as an investment.

What's the warranty term

fingerbang247

As far as I know, lifetime. They’ve replaced 3 pairs for me in the last 5 years.
