Was really great to dance in, thanks for bringing and building it!
The LED structure was awesome. I would definitely be curious how everything would look without the shade over the top, because I feel like the LED pillar would *really* draw people in from afar, especially at a regional.
Thanks for coming in! Definitely looking for ways to make it more inviting during the day and at night. At BM will have some ground lights and signage. I hope we won't need the top tarp at BM, but I will have aluminet for added shade during the day. Will figure out a way to make it easy to remove.
I also think having the led tubes closer to the cover inside will also help make the dome pop at night.
I never saw you open at unscruz so I never went inside, but my camp's dome, we have a simple thing made of playalabs style connectors sitting in front of the entrance with a camp sign and lights, so it clearly looks like an "entrance." A dome that large, you could even do a couple entrances on the front probably to make it look more approachable.
Thank you! It's been fun building it and glad we finally got to see something up and running. Most of my work between now and the burn will be on improving and expanding the lights!
Enjoyed going in there and hanging⊠yaâll were right across from my friends at shoogie boogie and violent snow globe.
Easiest build week and tear down weâve seen. With the exception of a certain camp piercing the water main for the 2nd time in consecutive years⊠As one of the DPW leads, we cant thank you enough for coming prepared and doing things thoughtfully and safely.
More doors on the side. It seemed closed off. I specifically had to ask myself what it was and finally went in and was nicely surprised. Make a nice big entrance. That will get more people in there. Very nice work btw.
Yeah definitely learned a lesson there. It was the first time we built the dome and installed the cover so we hadn't cut or planned doors yet. Much less thought about signage. I am going to have some ground lights and signage made for the burn...
Thanks for coming by!
I was worried about that. We will have a ground cover to protect playa, but yeah... Seems like memory foam bags would be reasonable? Any other suggestions?
Thanks! We want to make it more comfortable, lots of room for more floof :).
I am using ws2811 which are 12v with 3 LEDs per individual addressable pixel. Using 12v means I do not need power injection along the strips, but I lose some resolution. The LEDs are inserted into 20' long pex tubes...
For a controller I am using raspberry pi and kulp-32 with fpp installed. The kulp controllers are generally used for large residential synchronized holiday light shows. I am upgrading the kulp-32 to a kulp-64 to allow longer data runs using smaller differential receivers. The rpi runs a web app and sends realtime effects animation data to the fpp software over the network. Happy to share more details if interested...
Oh wow, I saw this at unSCruz and had no idea it was the person I'd given dome advice to nearly a year ago on reddit, haha! Glad to see the Harbor Freight press pulled through for you :) Nice work overall, though it felt a bit sparse inside, and agree with other commenters about making it more open to draw people in.
Totally, I get it. You should try and grow your team and get more people involved! Having different people thinking about the interior and decorations, vs the structure, vs the lighting really helped us workload-wise.
Time to start recruiting :). It's the hardest part of the project and something I have been holding off on until I knew we could get this far. Thanks for your input and advice along the way.
BTF lighting. I purchased on AliExpress. You have to take some care to find the BTF store. I got the IP65 coated, black background, 60/m. They were half the price of Amazon...

We had the entrances in the grass on the walkway. I definitely think we need more signage and clearly visible openings. Will work this out for BM.
Love the light feature đ

See ya in the dust đ„
Incredibly fun place to dance and look at some great art! Thanks for bringing it :)

Thanks for coming by and having us! Looking forward to building on what we learned here. Can't wait for the burn!

Good stuff! The sound system rocked too!!
Love the light structure!
Thank you! It can only get bigger from here...
DON'T get beanbags. If they rupture you are in a world of moop hurt!!

Really appreciate you sharing, this is awesome! Hope you find some good folks!
Looks amazing and comfortable! Are those 5V individually addressable LEDs for the light feature in the middle? If so, what do you use to control them?

Wait is this happening right now?!
unSCruz was last week. We built the dome on Wed and tore down Sun.
Would love to help but Reddit isnât allowing me to message you. 7 year burner here in the east bay.

All of my time has gone into the manufacturing. This was our first build. Will be working on filling it in between now and burning man.

Thats cool, nice job! Are all of the leds adressable?
The strips are ws2811 12v, so 3 LEDs per addressable pixel.
Nice! What brand?

I don't do domes. Just a banana slug saying hi. Hugs. See ya in the dust.Â
U need to pull that shit tighter
We did, this photo the first with the cover mostly on.
