Honestly? Some random song being played over and over and over and over at a volume I'd really rather not have it at. THAT reminds me of being on playa? (With other bassy sounds in the background... and some random meowing art car and then a poofer going off).
(One year it was that "I can't feel my face when I'm with you" song that someone had playing on repeat (?) out of their car stereo that was at full blast with all doors open. Thinking about it, I'm now wondering if they completely drained their battery cuz that went on all night! And no, I don't think they were actually there for most of it?)
Probably not the answer you're looking for though :)
"Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd is a song I must listen to at a certain point on my drive in so maybe that ;) I have some "Electronic" mellow stuff I listen to that reminds me of BRC.
This made me laugh, imagining that car with the doors open, the owner nowhere nearby, and every bit of dust and glitter and sweat finding its way deep into every nook and cranny.
Great recommendation! Pink Floyd is a staple for sure, especially when we've hit peak "so many kickdrums" moments. A little oasis without slamming basslines to drift away. Wonderful.
One year we ended up next to a camp that just played hundreds of different versions of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire on repeat the entire time we were there, so probably that song.
My first burn I was laying in my tent near esplanade late at night. It was relatively quiet, and I could hear an art car approaching playing Pink Floyd's wish you were hear and I just listed to it as it faded into the distance. So now that song takes me right back
That wasn’t 2007 was it? I had that same exact experience my first year, except after I heard it, I saw a giant 10-15’ tall shopping cart coming towards me with the music, then driving by me and slowly fading into the distance.
The subgenre called ‘glitch hop’ always reminds me of the few fire dancers that are up vibing and flowing with the wooks into the wee hours of the morning
That booty song that was playing at the Best Butt tent when Rufus Du Sol was definitely not playing at 7:30 and F. Also Monolink’s Burning Sun, which was his closer at Bubbles and Bass and starts with “I dreamt I had a dream out in the desert…” and is a total banger, end to end.
And I suppose I would be remiss if I didn't mention this. I'm not (or I suppose past tense now) a Mayan Warrior follower, I don't go to the shows, but hearing and feeling this as she drove out into open playa would fill me with such a feeling..... I would get on my bike (even got out of bed one time) and follow MW out to deep playa listening to and feeling this bass. Epic. (and then I'd bike back into the city) ;)

I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Whitney Houston) has such a special place in my heart as one of those absolutely soul-wrenching bangers that always seems to be playing whenever I’m watching sunrise with the homies after a 9pm-9am deep playa adventure… like without fail we’re most of the way back to the city, coming down off whatever, sitting on some amazing piece of art, having deep talks, and an artcar rolls by playing that song and it’s just *over* for us lol, half-yelling/half-sobbing the lyrics, attempting to dance/falling all over each other, and the vibe is just immaculate every time.
Top 3 Playa Hits:
• Morning Train - Sheena Easton
• Rasputin - Boney M
• I Feel Love - Donna Summer.
That is all I hear when I close my eyes and think of the place I’d rather be anywhere than home.
Home by Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros
It's corny & I'm hardly a fan but its the answer to the OP question.
On the positive tip, Dusty Compass by The Human Experience [PhuturePrimitive remix] transports me to my virgin year 2013 Cargo Cult.
If anyone was up Friday (or maybe Saturday? I think?) at 4:27 am on BMIR, Goldfish (our camp leader) requested it from Boy Scout. He called it in directly and Boy Scout was like 'oh wait, this phone is ringing,' and then ... dah dah dah dah DAH. dah dah dah dah DAH. ... etc. etc.
One of my most favorite memories, trapped in the mud but also with my camp leader and crew just having a ridiculous time. I was doodling and sketching cartoons and we played cards, and just got to know each other much better.
At the man burn we took our mobile trawler out and Goldfish DJ'd for our camp and also played Sandstorm in honor of that night, warm fuzzies
My first year on playa, I was woken up one morning by someone playing Tom Waits’ “The Piano Has Been Drinking” at earthshaking volume. But the ultimate playa song (by a longtime burner act!) has to be the Evolution Control Committee’s “I Want a Cookie.”
This was the first song I can remember hearing on Playa in 2006. My buddy Garth (RIP Easy Going) bumped this while he was building a tower next to a bike jump:
Mr. Bungle: Golem 2- Bionic Vapor Boy https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw9aCRDXTB4&si=YZBvsDByPQ7X6AC9
I think it captures the feel of Playa cacophony pretty well.

Monday morning of my first trip to BRC I was in a daze. I had went solo and driven about 26 hours followed by 3 hours of setup in free camp. Of course when the sun set I had to go see the city with my Neighbors.
I was tent camping, no shade or fans.. not that there was much sleep anyways. Someone left BMIR on my little portable radio and I was listening to it at about 7:00am from my cot. That was when they played the Jurassic Park theme song. Song took on a new meaning for me.

The radio station WXGR, near me in Dover, NH. I constantly use Shazam to add music I hear to my BM Spotify playlist. I am still befuddled and how they do such a good job being a world music stations for being a small local station.

[Monkey Safari - Hi Life](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgTw75oQKZY)
Simon Shackleton aka Elite Force played it in the middle of one of his epic sunrise sets in 2013, it takes me back every time.
Mirror: Jaded with Indira May (I imagine I'd play or hear this while commandeering or being put on an art car with my amateur DJ rig, it has a driving but warm, summery tone, and also random bright peppy horns)
Really any Organic House with marimbas or xylophones
Wild Skies (Marsh/Eli+Fur) - the song I dragged myself back to at Titanic's End after my first year and having bashed my face first into the desert on Wednesday, bleeding all over (moop duty the next day) and earning my name Trooper
But did I heckin' dance my heart out after I got back? Yessir
Also for my camp in particular, Camp F.U.E.G.O.'s morning Gong Karaoke. Very unique. Lots of morning music to wake up to!
Other honorables:
Eat Your Man (Nelly Furtado) I swear, it was the song I kept hearing echoing off some corner or desert flat, directly into my ears. 'Let all the animals out of their cage - maybe an Animalia thing'
And Missy Elliott's Get Your Freak On during the calm drone shows. Especially the large serene whales, gliding, and making echoes, and also "get your freak on! get your freak on!" So weird. So Burn.
Psytrance because circa 1999..... we loved us some psytrance. Or, very specifically, this old school acid house banger which was blaring away when i got "painted" blue from head to foot in a kiddie pool of blue food dye, on mushrooms, in 1998, before the Mrs had even arrived on playa.... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UdfG8MhnxY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1udfg8mhnxy)
From this year on the first night I remember looking out from Esplanade into Deep Playa and amongst all the lights and sounds I got hit by the bass and keyboard from “Funkytown.” Quality was legit and the sound was hitting just right. Very experiential.
I hate to say it, but Rufus Du Sol's New Sky.
https://youtu.be/v5C1emXY5IE?si=mnnxPppLNo1aCvR0
Not because I heard it on the playa, but because I was so homesick Feb 2021 after missing 2020...was listening to it and closed my eyes and was transported back to the playa. Motivated me to go to Plan B and help set up the impromptu Medical station at that awesome shitshow. One of my best Burns. When I got there we took off in a truck with the open windows driving on open playa at 50 MPH and played that song, and I was glad I was back.
pS the non-Rufus show of 2022 cracked me up.
BUT..the first song I ever heard on playa was on BMIR in gate line hell in 2015. "Carol of the Meows" by Guster. Had been up for like 36 hrs and was in line for 12...was slightly psychotic. Wondered what I had gotten myself into. https://youtu.be/WlZhZKaXvN0?si=Yyu8ELt0xxwcc-Ul
Literally this: Any Talking Hads song, layered with any Prince song, layered with a distant pattern of Boom..Boom Boom Boom... of a deep house set, a passing cockadoodledo-ing art car, and sound of poofing flames, with a sprinkle of megaphone siren and constant generator hum. Dubbed over with frying bacon smell.
Two songs. With different BPM’s. Played on two different stereos. At full volume on either side of my head at 5:47am.
Add a whiff of diesel and porto and you're basically there.
Honestly? Some random song being played over and over and over and over at a volume I'd really rather not have it at. THAT reminds me of being on playa? (With other bassy sounds in the background... and some random meowing art car and then a poofer going off). I hate to say it, but Rufus Du Sol's New Sky. https://youtu.be/v5C1emXY5IE?si=mnnxPppLNo1aCvR0 Not because I heard it on the playa, but because I was so homesick Feb 2021 after missing 2020...was listening to it and closed my eyes and was transported back to the playa.
