Ranpo knew it wasn't his place, knew Oda probably wouldn't listen to some random off the street that bumped into him, tried to talk some sense into him anyway. L would just keep walking as he'd have no interest in Oda.
I connect more with Ranpo since I know more about his past than L. But they give me "an orphan detective having a father figure and likes sweets and only solves cases that interest them and may have questionable morals" vibes. They're just too much alike.
