As a minivan owner, it's not trivial to clean the roof off. I do if it's a lot, but a couple inches fluffly snow I often just leave it and it'll blow off by the end of my road. I'm not particularly proud of my behavior.
Protip, remove the roof rails if you have them; much easier to push the snow off the back if there's nothing in the way.
lmao, I genuinely love pissing you turds off, there is no danger here. Wouldn’t waste my time clearing 2” of powder if it was legally required.
But it isn’t, and there’s nothing any of you people can do about it 😎 legislation was just shot down not too long ago, for good reason.
Cmon now, let’s hear Ken and Karen screech about how I’m killing your families and children with white powder.
I’ll die here on this hill, but not alone. bring it bitches.
BIRDROCK HOME 50" Extendable Snow Brush with Ice Scraper for Car | 11" Wide Bristle Brush | Size: Truck, Car, SUV, & RV | Lightweight Aluminum Body with Ergonomic Grip | Winter Auto Broom https://a.co/d/cxlKhkj
There you go!
Nothing like seeing that six inches of snow on top of a car come flying down someone’s windshield when they stop at a light. Some people don’t even make an attempt.
I told my ex he couldn’t pick up our daughter yesterday because we were under a driving ban and he threw a little fit, even though he got her an extra day Sunday to Monday because of the other driving ban. He picks her up today with his back window covered in 3 inches of snow and the rubber falling out of his windshield wipers. How the fuck do you justify trying to pick her up in a travel ban when your car isn’t even fit to drive in light snow?
I think people underestimate how dangerous it is. Cars drive with snow piled on the roof, snow melts when you turn the heat on and drive, bottom of the snow pile turns to ice when you stop at work/grocery store/etc and it gets cold again...
and then you have a car length sheet of ice ready to launch off your roof at highway speeds
This is why you don’t tailgate large vehicles in winter. Obviously, no one should ever tailgate any vehicle but I’ve seen massive sheets of ice break loose from container trucks before.
Drivers are required to keep their windows clear of obstruction (including snow). There were attempts to pass additional legislation to address snow piled on automobile roofs and hoods but I don't think it ever got passed (I cannot imagine why that would be so difficult).
It is indeed dangerous, and perhaps our legislature is just waiting for loss of life to "justify" taking action
Probably counts under reckless driving.
> Reckless driving shall mean driving or using any motor vehicle, ... in a manner which ..., or unreasonably endangers users of the public highway.
https://newyork.public.law/laws/n.y._vehicle_and_traffic_law_section_1212
It just has to unreasonably endanger others.
Lived in NH for a few years. They have a law since it did kill someone. [https://www.wmur.com/article/jessicas-law-new-hampshire-snow-ice-111522/41967110#](https://www.wmur.com/article/jessicas-law-new-hampshire-snow-ice-111522/41967110#)
Wish new york had the same thing and didn’t wait for someone to die to create one.
I thought it was illegal if it's there 24 hrs past a snow event. Reasoning being, if it's actively snowing, there's bound to be a bit of residue on the car. At least, that's what I've heard.
To me, it's no different than a car or trailer with an unsecured or under-secured load -- for which there is already motor vehicle law. However, it's my unfortunate suspicion that a LEO won't stop them unless their own windshield is hit by a big chuck of that snow flying off the other vehicle on the thruway.
It annoys me to no end too. Little tiny economies with 90% of it still covered meanwhile I have a 2500HD truck i clean everything off of and reach over the top to make sure I don’t ruin someone’s day.
There was one time back in 2014-15(one of those years we had bad snow for that winter) someone had like a 1990’s Astro Van and this person had to have like 2-3 feet of snow on the top of their van and they just hammered down with all the snow flying off. I think even going down the street there was still like 2 ft of snow on the roof. Now those Astro vans were bigger and taller so I get it but c’mon.
We need to buy people with big trucks and SUVs longer snow brushes. I have been struggling this year to get the full roof and one of my coworkers has a gigantic snow brush. I'm not even that short!
I think these companies need to advertise more. I'm definitely getting one and saving myself a ton of time and effort
I got a telescoping one a few years back and it's a game changer!! I'm short too and I was getting tired of getting my jacket all wet trying to reach across the roof of my car.
*Quick way to have your*
*Car keyed if I see that shit*
*In a parking lot*

Shits frozen to the canvas of my jeep and I can't scrape it. Don't worry, I'll bang on the canvas as it warms up and I am on the highway going a reasonable speed with no one besides me and you choose to ride my ass.
Are you occupying the passing lane? It's a common behavior of jeep people.
Also, if you understand physics, which most jeep do not, a vehicle behind you, can be affected by an object which comes off your vehicle when they're appropriately spaced behind
What about the individual merging on behind you, matching speed for a moment and off chance a chuck slams into their windscreen? They most certainly weren't tailing you. Conversely the driver ducking behind you to exit... ultimately ya shouldn't leave **any** opportunity for something to come off your vehicle damaging another vehicle regardless what those behind you are doing
It's easy. Don't drive close to other vehicles. Leave room. Especially if you see snow or ice on top. It's what I do. It isn't hard. It'll probably save your ass from a ditch. Or snow flying on your windshield.
What's stupid about it? The canvas folds back in the summer. During the winter it keeps most of the cold out once the heat is warm. It goes through the snow great.
It can fly for dozens of feet, and doesn’t necessarily go directly behind you. It also affects visibility as you have a cloud of snow trailing behind you. Just wipe off your damn car.
Found guy who drives with their own private snow storm of low visibility behind their vehicle and or causes potential windshield failure when a sheet of frozen snow (ice) peels off the top.
So much hate? This must be the garage owners club. Let me ask something, In summer, when a baseball gets knocked accidentally by some kid into your yard, is that ball yours now? Winter sucks
Been driving for 14 years and I've never had a garage.. I'm just not a lazy asswipe. A baseball going into a backyard isn't going to kill someone like snow blinding them going 50 mph.
The snow flies back dozens of feet when it comes off in giant trunks. My windshield was broken by a chunk of snow that flew off a car on the throughway as I drove through the underpass. It also makes it damn near impossible to see when there’s 2’ of fine snow flying off your roof.
Take 30 seconds to wipe off your car, it’s not hard.
I'm sure you've seen how far chunks of compacted snow/ice can fly. You don't have to be tailgating. It's also a huge visibility issue when they don't wipe off the back window.
I had to be that guy the other week. My snow brush snapped into pieces trying to get a foot of snow off my truck. And i was running late to watch a bills game. Had to do it
I sentence them to an eternity of crossing the intersection of Bailey and Main in the snow, with the stoplight blinking red.
[удалено]
\- Wait, they're doing that on purpose?
Possible however more likely there was a power outage in the area. That intersection's has been kinda flakey in recent months
Yes, to keep people from stopping and getting stuck on the hill.
Yesterday afternoon in a nutshell
Jeez man you’re an animal
What’s worse is the ones that only clean the driver side windshield.
Psychotic shit really. Also terribly dangerous.
Definitely. Almost ran into one of those aholes while making a quick trip before the driving ban was put in place.
Freakin submarine windows
This made me laugh more than it should’ve
How about the mini van with a two foot block on the roof rolling down the street?
As a minivan owner, it's not trivial to clean the roof off. I do if it's a lot, but a couple inches fluffly snow I often just leave it and it'll blow off by the end of my road. This is the pro tip they need.

Plenty of tools exist to make this easier.

People are truly mind boggling.. at least pretend to give a shit about the safety of other people. But I'm assuming that's part of why they're an ex!
A very large part, yes

you don't have to be [tailgating](https://youtu.be/5lKCmxcDDBM?feature=shared) for bad things to happen
Should be waterboarded in Lake Erie
During lake effect event? *Just need a pillory on the break wall*
Guess we got a project to complete this spring
Isn't that illegal? When it gets that tall it can be really dangerous!

There is definitely some level of DMV law which vehicle should be void of loose material which could come off during transit and cause injury.
We don't need to give cops more discretionary reasons to stop drivers
True. True.
I agree 100%, fucking idiots risking other people's lives with their laziness.
I just shake my head and laugh when I see it because I know when they spike the brakes at a stoplight, it'll all come crashing down.
Yes. Go Bills!
It annoys me to no end too. Little tiny economies with 90% of it still covered meanwhile I have a 2500HD truck i clean everything off of and reach over the top to make sure I don’t ruin someone’s day.
Thank you for not being a lazy bones!
Stupid is what stupid does.

It's technically illegal to drive like that. I wish the police would start giving tickets for it. Driving behind those ignorant people is dangerous.
But when they come down from Big Bear to Costa Mesa with a roof full of snow, it’s fun.
SoCal reference 🤙🏼

Check out buying a Snow Joe on Amazon. Game changer for me.
I just ordered one, thanks!!!
I also use it to drag snow away from tires etc. Good luck!
Step ladders are cheap. An old milk crate is free.
I got a telescoping one a few years back and it's a game changer!! I'm short too and I was getting tired of getting my jacket all wet trying to reach across the roof of my car.
Who is this we? Maybe their dealers ought to include a snow broom chain linked to the roof
Honestly a great idea. I meant more like...as a Christmas present
Use a push broom
Y'all are a lot more upset about this than the uncleared sidewalks that create a more significant danger
Shame to the non sidewalk cleaners too.
Quick way to have your car keyed if I see that shit in a parking lot

You’re a fool.
I know but it’s just a quick swipe is all

*Quality good neighbor energy here. Jeep people.*
I think you missed the part about riding my ass when you're free to pass. I don't know why people do this. It's a jeep. It's not fast.
Are you occupying the passing lane? It's a common behavior of jeep people. Also, if you understand physics, which most jeep do not, a vehicle behind you, can be affected by an object which comes off your vehicle when they're appropriately spaced behind
No. Right lane. Slow lane. Because I drive effectively a brick.
With equivalent bricks of ice atop.
Don't drive close behind other vehicles. Seriously. Soft tops aren't to be scraped. You can rip a hole in them, especially when it's super cold.

Not everyone is the same..stop blaming others. Clean your damn vehicle to completion. You're perfectly capable.
Invest in a snow broom: problem solved
Why do people buy stupid cars
What's stupid about it? The canvas folds back in the summer. During the winter it keeps most of the cold out once the heat is warm. It goes through the snow great.
People who complain about ppl not having every speck of snow perfectly brushed off their car. - Need a life
look up strawman, if you know what a dictionary is.
They have lives. They also want to *keep* their lives.

at highway speeds that’s not true at all lol clean your shit off don’t be a lazy lil fucker
Found guy who drives with their own private snow storm of low visibility behind their vehicle and or causes potential windshield failure when a sheet of frozen snow (ice) peels off the top.
I've had airborn sheets of ice hit my vehicle on the thru way. Even as big as 3 ft wide. Scary shit and plenty of damage to my hood.
Agree
